This is the absolute worst experience I have EVER had with a roofer--or with any type of contactor,…read morefor that matter. I hired Premier South in April 2022 to install a new roof on my double. My initial quote was for a little over $10k. There ended up being an additional $1k charge for damages they found after removing the shingles. A couple of months later, my tenant called to let me know the ceiling in the bedroom was leaking. This bedroom was probably an addition, and there was no plumbing above it, so I knew the issue had to be the roof. I called Matt LeFeaux of Premier South and asked him to go out and take a look. Matt was dismissive of my concerns, stating that it couldn't be the roof and was most likely an issue with the HVAC. I called an HVAC company. They came out and told me the HVAC was fine, and that the issue had to be the roof, as there were two areas in the roof that were concave (which definitely indicates a problem). I called Matt again. He sent someone out who "figured out what the problem was and fixed it," but Matt did not explain what that problem was or how it was fixed. During the next heavy rain, my tenant again reported water coming in through the bedroom ceiling. I called Matt again, who was again dismissive and suggested I call a different HVAC company. Hmm...the leaking is caused by the HVAC, but it only happens when it rains? So I called another HVAC guy. He charged me over $100 to ALSO tell me that the HVAC was fine, and that the roof still had two concave areas that obviously shouldn't be there. By this time, my poor tenant had buckets set up in the bedroom, and the ceiling was nearly ruined. I called Matt again to try and report what the second HVAC company had found. He interrupted me and started once again telling me how the roof was perfectly fine. When I asked him to stop interrupting me, he hung up and refused to answer any more of my calls. So my husband took over. After talking to HIM, Matt apologized for our trouble and promised to send people out to install tarps as soon as the rain stopped, and that they'd also come out and figure out what the problem was as soon as they could schedule it. They covered a small section of the roof with tarps, but it wasn't enough. During the next heavy rain, the ceiling began leaking again. I tried calling; Matt had apparently blocked my number, so my husband again had to be the one to deal with the issue. Which is absolutely RIDICULOUS. At my husband's request, Premier South did send out some guys who covered the ceiling with a larger tarp. Thank god; by this time, the bedroom ceiling looked ready to collapse. Eventually, they sent more workers out, who removed a section of shingles. Supposedly, they found fire damage in that area which they had initially missed. Those repairs, of course, should have been made BEFORE installing the Ice and Water underlay and shingles. They sent us an additional bill for $4000. This bill included the amount for the additional work that should have been done to begin with, PLUS the work involved in removing the shingles and Ice and Water underlay and replacing them the 2nd time. My husband called from his phone. When Matt answered, I explained that we had no problem paying for the additional work, but that the cost of the Ice and Water and shingles for the 2nd installation was THEIR responsibility, as it was THEIR fault for neglecting to do the job correctly at the outset. Matt told me that they would not cover the cost of these items, nor would they reimburse us for the ceiling repairs ($300) or the HVAC bill ($124). My husband requested an itemized bill for the repairs. The person he spoke with initially said that Premier South "doesn't do that." My husband explained that if that was the case, we wouldn't be paying them anything more. We got our itemized bill. From the $4000 charged we subtracted: (1) the charge for additional shingles and the work time for re-installing them; (2) the additional amount for reinstalling the Ice and Water underlay; and (3) the costs of the ceiling repair and HVAC visit. We then sent them the revised amount. They weren't happy about this and claimed that the Ice and Water underlay was "never a part of the original estimate." Not true; I sent them a copy of the original estimate, which clearly lists it. Then they backpedaled, claiming that they only charged us for a single roll, and that normally, it is only used in the "valleys" of the roof, but that for some reason, this damage that they repaired required additional Ice and Water. Yeah. Right. My advice: do not even THINK about doing business with this company if you're a woman. Even if you're a guy, be prepared for the possibility of shoddy workmanship that will require repairs soon after the work is supposedly finished. And be prepared for them to try and charge you extra for correcting the mistakes that THEY made.

Would not recommend this company to anyone! The insurance company agreed to their price, however, they then added almost $6000 to the original price. we protested, saying they can't add to the contract we signed, and that they were just milking our insurance company for all they could get. They claimed it was for "hidden damage" that wasn't visible on first inspection. : that the flashing had been placed under the stucco & had to be replaced, requiring stucco to be torn out & replaced. eventually their rep wouldn't even answer or return my calls. When we got the final bill, it stated we owed an additional $429 out of pocket, even after our insurance had agreed to the additional charges. I argued that we should not have to pay that, as our original agreement was that we only pay our deductible. They then billed our insurance company AGAIN, for the third time. Long story short, they bilked our insurance company for $25,000 on a job that should've only cost about $16,000. (Several other houses on our street with similar sized roofs had them replaced for about $16,000!) Just be very careful because we aren't the only ones who have found that this company adds thousands of dollars AFTER you sign their contract. My advice: give them a hard pass!

It is difficult to find the words to express my thanks and gratitude towards Gulf Coast and all…read morethose associated. It felt like a tragedy when I saw the condition Hurricane Ida left my house in. My husband and I purchased this home 3 years ago as first time homebuyers. It was beautiful and I truly was obsessed with my home and had so much pride in it. But after Hurricane Ida gifted us a fallen pine tree right on top of my 7 year old's bedroom, that couldn't have been farther from the truth. When it was deemed safe for us to move back in following mitigation, I hated my house. It felt disgusting and hazardous and brought me so much stress. I was overwhelmed with the anxiety of what to do next and how to go about it all. I knew my first steps necessary were filing an insurance claim, and finding a contractor sooner rather than later, seeing as thousands of others were all probably in the same spot I was. Not only am I a female, but I'm also in my early 20's, and I knew contractors & construction workers would see me as nothing more than a walking, talking opportunity to screw over. I had to watch my back every which way I turned, especially since my husband is military and was gone constantly during all of this. I had just me, myself and I. I started working with one construction company that demoed all my interior damage and treated for mold, until suddenly that company became flakey and unprofessional before they finally went incognito. I cut ties and stressed about my chances of finding another contractor that late in the hurricane game. I was lucky to have found such an incredible roofer that referred me to Gulf Coast Contractors, and for the first time in a long time I could see the light at the end of the dark tunnel. There is so much that goes into a catastrophe insurance claim process, and I can assure you that if I were a contractor, I would avoid clients working with insurance like the plague. Immediately after contacting Gulf Coast Mike France came to assess all the damage, and assured me how much worse off I could've been, and that strangely helped the stress of it all. Mike was absolutely incredible and shortly after, Connie and their demo team came and sealed off the most damaged bedroom to keep my children away from anything sharp or dangerous. Connie was so kind and sweet! And after that the ball just kept rolling. I worked mostly with Mikey as he was the one managing all the work being done to my house and I can not say enough positive things about him. He was kind, understanding, relatable, and ultimately made sure that I was comfortable and overly satisfied with everything. If I had any large or minor issue with any subcontractor or their work, Mikey solved it for me immediately. He asked me constantly if I was happy with the various subcontractors work and assured me confidently to not hesitate voicing to him any concerns I had, and that it was his job to deal with them. Tim filed my insurance supplement for me and made the insurance process so understandable and easy, even through working with 5 different adjusters. I'm not sure what kind of magic Tim pulled but he ultimately doubled my total claim amount and was able to get 100% of my house's flooring replaced. Doing this by way of insurance was by no means a quick process, and it absolutely took its fair share of "squeaky wheel" calls and emails from both Tim and I to my adjusters but it certainly paid off in the end when we were able to get the insurance to pay for virtually all we were asking for with little to no push back, assumingly because Tim knew what he was doing, and he knew what and how to document damages appropriately. Tim handles the money and he was incredibly easy to approach with any sort of questions and concerns whenever they arose, seeing as, I have obviously never gone through this process before. He would spend hours if it were necessary running through the numbers with me and explaining every confusing insurance obstacle. I had forked out so much money out of pocket prior to hiring Gulf Coast, but with them, they got paid when I got paid and they never asked me to pay them a dime out of pocket. There wasn't a single time I felt in jeopardy working with Gulf Coast and they restored my house to even better than it was before the hurricane. I have already sworn by Gulf Coast to anyone who mentions needing a contractor! They are honorable, trustworthy and magnificent at what they do. Their business card on my fridge is here to stay.
