A GEM ON THE LAKES!!!! While visiting the Chicago area, my Brother brought us here, and we were absolutely delighted. The beach is different than at "home" in Florida, but still one of the best I've been to. I won't go on comparing this to Florida beaches, but I will say this lake was actually swimmable, due to there not being gators. :) The owner has done a fantastic job of making the beach hospitable, providing picnic benches with umbrellas, and lounge chairs. The most surprising part to me were the bathrooms. I was expecting sandy, dingy, smelly, wet restrooms. I was pleasantly surprised at being greeted with wood floors, no sand, and no water on the floor!!! The cabins were cute, but we did not go in. We loved swimming in the lake and jumping from the docks!!! I highly recommend Cypress Resort and Marina for the beach. You can thank me later!!! :) read more

Gave this place 1 star only to be to write a review. Upon entrance 1st stop bathroom, only to run into the owner who started talking about penis's in our initial conversation, with kids in the bathroom as well. (Found VERY uncomfortable)... room was nice though it's obvious they have never cleaned the tub or mirrors. Left the place looking same as we got especially considering we were barely in there and did no cooking or eating in the residence. And certainly didn't want to use the shower. Upon arrival home I learned they kept 100 of our deposit which blew me away. Working in the exact same business, I have seen how rooms have been left and would NEVER not clean up after myself) But when I called to ask why she accused us of leaving cocaine on the counter so it needed a deep clean. Personally I don't think I've ever been more insulted. Being in my 50s to this day I have NEVER done cocaine. UNBELIEVABLE! How insulting can you be? I asked for photos knowing this isn't possible and she sent me 1 photo of the 3 white spots of paint we saw that clearly came from their crappy painters drip marks.. My husband and I both wiped that counter off when we got there on separate occasions and even talked on the beach how they should have had a more professional painter. I am so APPALLED! Of course I disputed this charge but I'm just not happy with that. How dare this lady accuse us of such a thing? We witnessed 2 employees smoking pot, and said nothing with it being legal and the area, so clearly this woman has no issues with drugs, but for her to accuse US FOR AN EXCUSE TO TAKE 128 DOLLARS IS ABSURD! (YES somehow she took another 28 the next day) I WILL fight this beyond getting my money back. Such an unprofessional place with an owner with no class and workers who would rather smoke pot and sit on the beach drinking wine verse cleaning bathrooms is not a place for me. And the WORST part was how I was treated when called to asked about the charges. The lady was belligerent, rude and clearly unsure of what she was talking about. My suggestion! OMG best place ever! If your looking for a great place to relax this summer or need a get away come on up and stay here in one of the many cabins available. The owner Amanda and her team have transformed this place into something you just can't find anywhere else. Beautiful beach front with all the toys kayaks, canoes,paddle boards , and after a fun day on the water you can relax by a nice bonfire. The cabins have everything you could want from room for two up to full family cabins we stayed in #5 the tiny cabin and it was perfect so we'll decorated it just feels like home. Stayed here for a family reunion. This place was amazing. I grew up on the ocean, so this was a nice introduction to lake life. Amanda was incredible and was on top of any request or issue right away. Tons of floats and water toys to play with. Paddle boarding was a ton of fun. The cabins were even nicer than I had thought they would be. Weather was perfect. Had a nice fire circle behind the cabin each night. definitely looking forward to coming back some time. read more

My husband Brian and I were lucky enough to get married here Labor Day 2015 (perfect venue) and have been going back to visit, host family/friend picnics, attend parties, & hang out on the beach as often as possible ever since. We stayed in cottage #2 for our wedding weekend and felt right at home. At that point, it was one of few cottages available for rent, but Amanda has been very busy rehabbing ever since and now has a number of cozy, beautifully updated cottages available for rent. Each unit has its own unique and personal touches that highlight the original charm while still being modern and fully equipped for a very comfortable stay. The beach at Cypress is the best on the chain by far, & it's a great place to spend a summer weekend just hanging out, floating around, & using one of the many lounge chairs, picnic tables, and/or BBQ grills. There are clean bathroom facilities with hot showers available, which definitely come in handy. Last but not least, Amanda is an amazing hostess and her genuine love & passion for this place (& all of its historic charm) is part of what makes it so special. She's so friendly and welcoming and just one of those people people are drawn to. She has a really awesome thing going at Cypress. Overall, this place is definitely the hidden gem of Petite Lake, if not all of the Chain o' Lakes & Antioch as a whole. read more

We stayed in house #1 for a birthday weekend with a group of 6 friends. This resort was absolutely charming and looked recently remodeled with very chic, cozy decorations. The resort has houses/cabins located on beachfront property. We were given access to use canoes, kayaks, row boats, and build a bonfire next to the shore. What a beautiful place! We had a party of 17 that stayed here for a long weekend in summer of 2019 (13 adults and 4 kids), spread across 4 different cabins. It was a great set-up to have a little private area for individual families, but to also be able to walk just a few feet to each cabin and to share the campfire behind the biggest unit each night. In addition, the beach area was a blast for kids, and we docked our boat right on the property (there's a launch there as well). Perfect and affordable for our large group, and Cypress Boss Amanda is a badass who took great care of us and the property. If you're lucky, "Uncle Larry" on the grounds will fry up some fresh fish for you! read more

GREAT FOR PARTIES!!! We just had our 20th HS reunion here and it was amazing! Outside has a great big white tent overlooking the lake so you can be outside, but in the shade if you want. 4 big picnic tables. Bonfire pit off to the side. Only downfall...very steep hill that doesn't have any kind of posts or ropes as a precaution- not the best for kids or people who've partied too hard (especially at night). The Boat House inside space is super cute with plenty of room for people to stand and mingle, as well as sit at pub tables or on couch. Has a small bar with a full size fridge/freezer. Does have bathrooms, access located on outside of boathouse. Has a gravel driveway/road, but parking is in grass. Would image if it's rainy season this might not be the greatest. I didn't actually use the beach or cottages, but people said both are great! Kids love playing on the beach having hours of fun while parents sit back and relax. Cottages are super cute. read more

We stayed at Cypress the weekend of july 10th and had an amazing time. The cottages interiors rustic-vintage are 5 star top notch, beds were super comfy, kitchen and bathroom had everything needed . The beach was great for the kids to enjoy safe water activities and the marina with own launch pad allowed me to get my boat on the water easily. Short and easy trip from Chicago this is a gateaway destination I surely will come back. Amanda the owner is super nice and a cute great host, she even got us a beach soundbar for music on the beach. Place has small grills everywhere and we barbecue every single day. This property is on shores of petite lake on the chain o lakes area, water is swimmable but no clear, anyway kids spent all day on water. I will recommend to my friends. read more

My family had rented the #1 cottage for three days and it was wonderful!! The view of the lake from on the top of the hill was beautiful and so peaceful. We stayed at the Cypress with our family of 11 and had the best time. The cabins are decorated perfectly, and the atmosphere of the resort is laid back and welcoming. Beach items are free for guests (kayaks, paddle boards, inflatables, fishing poles, etc.), and we made ample use of them. Our kids are 12 - 17, and each one had a great time roasting marshmallows, petting baby bunnies and running free. We'll definitely be back. Amanda, the owner, is terrific. read more

Went up to the chain for weekend and looking for a good place to stay and stopped here to let the dog do its bathroom to see how friendly everyone was and it was horrible. The owner/lady came up asking, "umm can I help you" when I was just trying to let my dog go pee before heading back out on the water. It's a shame because petite lake is great but this hotel is horrible and the people that work/live there are unfriendly and unhappy with life . DO NOT GO THERE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY. Plenty of other places on the chain that have much nicer staff. Please do not waste your time and go here. I WANT TO WARN EVERYONE BEFORE WASTING THER TIME AND MONEY. read more
