I also would like to give a special thanks to Christopher, the employee who works in the photo department. Overall, I highly recommend this location to families, friends, or solo venture goers who love nature and a fun holistic experience.

Made it back to utilize my new summer pass. Straight through the parking gate, we were greeted and…read moreallowed in as our pass includes free parking. A good saving of 15.00 per visit. Sunday morning and the place was pretty busy. We were told to use parking lot F for parking. It's a short uphill walk if we wanted to walk but right outside the parking entrance was a trolley stop. It does get full but the trolley run pretty often and drops you right off at the front of the tram station. As we had our pass, one of our friend didn't but we were able to save 10 percent on her ticket. The pass offers 10 percent up to four additional tickets which is a big help. The line wasn't that long for both tickets and entrances. After scanning the pass/ticket, you're greeted with a photographer for the group picture. That could be picked up at the top of the mountain. After that, you're in a room with everyone else before getting on the tram. It hold a good amount of people and run quite often both going up and coming down. The cart is see though so wherever you stand you'll get the full view and it's slowly rotates 360 degrees which offers the view of everything from the mountain to the desert. It was maybe a good 5 minutes or so from bottom to top. At the top you have the photo section where you can collect your pictures. Theres a museum, gift shop, bar, restaurant and cafe and of course the mountains. Hiking is a number one activity as well as camping and rock climbing which we did see loads of people bringing their mats with them. Of all the times I've been up here, I have never once walked down to the trails and this time it finally happened. It's a downhill walk on a flat paved sidewalk but coming back up was, you just wanted to get to the top. The mountain itself was beautiful with a good amount of hiking trail. All with path and directions. We happened to stumbled upon a free hiking tour which was quite interesting and nice. There's two daily that's about an hour and half long. Nick was the main tour guide who is extremely knowledgeable about all things nature and the mountain. That man was like a walking encyclopedia about the place. Very sweet and friendly. The tour/hike itself was fun and learning about things was even more enjoyable. Nature has its beauty, we just have to stop and enjoy it. Also Spencer, another ranger that was pretty knowledgeable too. He was more of the background ranger of the group. These two men know their crafts about the mountain and nature. Just that hour or so, the group took in so much information. To have something like this at the top of the mountain was a surprise as we just happened to stumbled upon it as it started. We saw the sign posted and noticed the group about 100 feet ahead. If you wanted to just do your own thing, it's open for your pleasure. I think if you wanted to continue on one of the main hike, you would need to get a permit at the ranger stations. I think it was free. Camping is also available on the mountain. It was a nice afternoon spent up there just checking out nature and the scenery with an added bonus with a nature hike with Nick and Spencer. I'm not sure if they're the only guides that do the tour, but they were excellent. Finishing off, we enjoys the view of the desert from the top of the mountain looking down to the desert. Lounging for the bit and checking out the museum before heading back down. If you haven't done the tram to the top, it's worth it for an afternoon. And perfect way to cool off from the heat.

Took my first demo/introductory/discovery flight at OC Flight Center. Michael was my flight…read moreinstructor and he let me taxi, takeoff, talk to ATC, do flight maneuvers, and finally land. Amazing instructor, beautiful views, and a surreal experience! $150 is a great price point as it includes both the plane and the instructor. Generally most planes rent for around just that price. They let my wife tag along in the back seat for $35 more. The experience starts with checking in at the front desk and signing waivers. Then you do a quick run down in the office with your instructor of what to expect during the flight. Then they take you out to the airport and do a pre-flight inspection of the plane. Finally you're seated into the pilot's seat and start taxing out. Total time in the plane was about 45-50 min of which 25 min was in the air (from take off to landing). We also lucked out in that they assigned us to their newest plane (a Cessna 172S - N227WC). It came equipped with a G1000, which was awesome! It was so similar to my experience with the Cessna 172 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. :D Michael was a super attentive and encouraging flight instructor. I loved that he gauged how comfortable I was in the plane and let me do so much more then I was expecting to be able to do on my first flight. I loved that he let me make the calls to ATC. Also it was incredibly cool taking off and landing by myself (with his guidance of course). Michael spent a lot of time after the flight answering questions that we had. In total my wife and I spent about 2.5 hours at OCFC. I will definitely come back here if/when I want to start my PPL training--hopefully with Michael as my flight instructor!
