Sometimes you just run into an arts festival on the way to an art museum…read more Earlier in the day at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, a lady asked me if I knew how to get to the Oklahoma Festival of the Arts. As it was my first day ever in Oklahoma, I did not. I also could not find the location for her on a map. Yet, later in the day, I found the festival on the way to the art museum. It was so much fun exploring the park, sampling foods and listening to musicians. Celebrating 60 Years, the festival is a great way to welcome spring to Oklahoma City. Found a parking space near the museum. The festival is just a short walk from the gardens, the park and the art museum. A great festival to spend about an hour or so.

People were dancing all night. The food could have been better (for sure). They had meatballs, pulled chicken sliders, cauliflower, cucumbers, carrots, hummus, spicy pimento cheese and deviled eggs. Next year they really need to do better for $100 a ticket. They had wine, beer and a specialty drink. I did have a good time.

The programming committee does a great job developing a wonderful selection of films, which are then well-organized. You can build your schedule online, and add that directly to the calendar you already use (GCal, Outlook, etc). The films include a wide selection of films by Oklahomans (I think this year there were 27), as well as thought-provoking documentaries, funny narrative features, and a very rich and varied shorts program. This year there were ninety films across five theaters. There are many opportunities to network with filmmakers from all across the country, visiting panelists, and your fellow local film buffs. The parties are legendary - every night of the festival there are at least two fun parties to attend and enjoy. All-access badges are $125, but it's not hard to earn a badge by becoming a volunteer. There are volunteer opportunities throughout the year. There is also a 2-for-1 badge deal when you buy a CityCard, which pays for itself just with the dCFF discount, though there are many other great cultural opportunities within that. This is an annual festival held in the public market grounds just west of downtown OKC. They have…read morevendors selling g all kinds of items, plants, food, antiques and just about anything you can imagine. They have a dedicated food truck area tht even had Maine mobster. There is a nice covered area and the had live local musicians on the stage. Good thing there was a nice breeze or it would have been really hot. Spent a couple hrs walking around and listening to the music. Parking is all around. There are free spots, you just need to look. First place I stopped wanted 20 bucks which is robbery to me but people were paying. Just around the corner was a bunch of free spots. Wasn't too crowded but there was a nice crowd.

I had never been to the Edmond Arts Festival and was glad I did. So many shops downtown I never knew about plus I was able to enjoy all the amazing talented artist, artisans, photographers,jewelers. I wish I could afford to buy so many things. Sunday is the last day and they will be done at dusk. Go enjoy a free event,support your Oklahoma artist and try out some food. They also have a children's play area too. Great time to take the littles out for fun.

Dates/Times: Fri, 3 May: 10am-7pm; Sat, 10am-8pm; Sun, 11am-5pm Details: The 2019 Edmond Arts Festival was held the first weekend in May. Local artists and those from across the US came to display their Arts and crafts. Arts presented ranged from drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, jewelry, and furniture. White tents were set up for the artists to present their work for viewing and for sale. Some artists worked on paintings and drawings during the festival. Bands, musicians, and dancers were scheduled throughout the weekend. Food/drinks: Food, ice cream, wine, and beer trucks and tents were available for merchants to sell their specialties. There were plenty of tables and chairs set up for people to sit, relax, and eat and drink. Misc: There were signs stating "no animals allowed, except service dogs;" but I saw two dogs that definitely weren't service dogs. Oklahoma Craft Beer Festival is an annual event and is not to be missed if you like beer. 2016…read moremarked the sixth year for the festival, and was the second year for the festival to be held indoors at the Cox Convention Center. The festival organizers moved the event from the parking lot next to Tapwerks due to inclement weather in 2015, and it worked so well, it's now the spot (more space and no weather worries). I did not attend the festival at the previous location, but I did attend last year and this year. In my opinion, the organizers are doing a great job of creating an excellent beer festival that maybe someday will compete with the *holy grail. The OCBF is the place to try all sorts of Oklahoma brews as well as non-Okie beers (there were over 300 beers to try this year). Also, OCBF included homebrewers who were sponsored by established breweries this year. I really enjoyed meeting and talking to the homebrewers. The festival also included three food trucks outside this year, and while the food truck spot was pretty cramped, it was nice to have them at the very moment I realized I'd completed my first "power hour" of the day (thank you, food trucks!). There also were multiple water stations around the Convention Center which was great. I noticed the **pretzel necklace made more of an appearance this year than last year, so I think it's catching on here. One of the best parts of a beer festival is getting to try special releases that are only available at the festival. Several breweries did offer special releases during each session and I hope this is an area of improvement in future festivals. I think other areas of improvement are: create a dedicated area for designated drivers with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Have some games, some live music, etc. All in all, though, this is an impressive festival and I'm really glad we have it. Other note: The VIP session goers were given a glass tasting cup.
