    Beef Cheek Bourguignon
    Darlene Y.

I wasn't aware there were a few locations, but I really enjoyed my dinner at Cote. I had the BEEF CHEEK BOURGUIGNON and it was cooked so well. It's a 6 hour slow-cooked beef cheek, with mushrooms/ bacon lardons, and the most amazing potato purée. I wish I had more space to try more food, but the one was perfect. ENJOY!

    These can kill... Unreal...

This was the single worst meal I've ever had in Europe. And it's not even close. How do you serve unopened mussels? How do you serve a steak tougher than a birkenstock? They absolutely do not care about quality here. It's a volume game. Our useless server took our 3 course order when we sat down. After he cleared our entree plates, he asked what we wanted for dessert.... We ordered that 30 minutes ago, Garcon... But the food was so awful, we told him to skip dessert. So he brings the check and, surprise!! There's our 2 dessert orders. That took another 10 minutes to clear up. The owner of this place should be ashamed and should, at a minimum, immediately fire all management here. They're going to kill someone with those bad mussels

Kir Royal for me and a cidre for my hubbie

We really enjoyed our dinner here although the service was slow especially waiting for our dessert and again for the check. Our waiter was Italian instead of French so we didn't have the opportunity to practice our rusty French. Extensive wine and drink menu. I had a kir royale and my hubbie had a bottle of Bolée d'Armorique cider -- both lovely. For appetizer I had the Charentais melon with prosciutto, just delish! My hubbie had the tomato, shallot and basil salad which was quite good. The baguette that came with our appetizers was perfect in crumb and flavor, nice and chewy. For mains, I had the fish Pamentier in a dill cream sauce topped with a crisped crust of mashed potatoes, good with lots of fish. My hubbie had the wonderfully succulent sirloin steak with Roquefort butter, a bit of watercress and pommes frites. For dessert, my husband loved the Crème brûlée au Citron. I so enjoyed the Coupe Noire with a wonderful vanilla ice cream and a pitcher of warm chocolate sauce on the side. Don't visit if you're in a hurry, otherwise enjoy this wonderful bit of France in the heart of London.

So many options and the servers are helpful/ happy. We enjoyed our entrees which were beautiful and fresh. See our photos for a review of entrees and give this place a try.

    Lunch salad...it was delicious!

My favorite spot off Strand! Beautiful space and absolutely delicious food - consistently! Go for lunch during the week and you will find a bustling brassiere with attentive waitstaff and flavors that make you swoon! Seriously! We ate lunch here on two different days and also stopped in for dinner. Lunch seemed to be more organized and efficient. The prix fixés menus for lunch are perfect portions and well priced. Dinner was disappointing from a quality of food, preparation and service perspective, but maybe it was just an off night? Either way, I recommend this place for a great lunch or pre-theatre nibbles!

For a truly splendid taste of French fare, go to Cote Bistro. One evening, my roommate and I discovered this newly open restaurant and stayed for hours. From the moment we entered, we were warmly greeted by the host and were able to sit near the front widow to enjoy the view of Covet Garden. I ordered the Pissaladière, a delicious warm flatbread with caramelised onions and reblochon cheese to start and for my main course, I had the Duck leg confit which is reasonably priced at £10.95. The restaurant is simple, yet chic. It spans over three main dining rooms and would be a great place for a private party or romantic evening out. The service was impeccable, as our server offered useful suggestions and our food was prepared in a timely manner! Ask for Paolo or Claudio.

The breakfast was 5 stars. I was their first customer. Early Sunday. After serving me espresso, I waited a long time to order. But once I did, 10 minutes later, one of the best Benedict style egg dishes of my life. Eggs Royale, with smoked salmon instead of ham. I think this was the best hollandaise I have ever had in a restaurant.

Horrible food with terrible service. Yuck

I just want to say that I think Cote's steak tartares are better than the ones served at the Wolsely....which is a huge compliment!

They went out of their way to make forthright suggestions about items and the wines by the glass. The winner was the pea and mint soup. We made reservations at 3pm but it seemed like they had several other tables available for walk-in. The server asked if this was our first time for high tea (not sure if this is protocol or if we were dripping with American vibes). Either way, they were great at walking us through everything to make sure we didn't have any questions. The table settings and overall vibe made me feel like we were super fancy! I ordered the Egyptian Chamomile tea and my husband ordered the Earl Gray. The menu had descriptions of the types of teas which can help you pick out what you'd like. I think we both liked my Chamomile better with a tad of sugar which was on the table. We happened to visit during the Chelsea Flower Show time, so they had 2 different types of specialty desserts- we ordered one of each. The sandwiches were all delicious- I loved the salmon and my husband wanted to ask for the Coronation Chicken Salad recipe. The scones were out of this world, and I have a new favorite food called clotted cream. The desserts were so, so good and had a little bit of everything- chocolate, tarts, fruity...you'll find something you like! To be quite frank, we did our due diligence with finding a place to have high tea. There were some that were almost twice as expensive as this place, and I have a hard time believing they would have been twice as good. If you're looking for a simple afternoon tea experience, make sure to add this to your short list. Brasserie Max is elegant, simple, and delicious- highly recommended!

I wanted to try this because if it's proximity to the West End theater locations. Initially arriving at 5:45 PM without a reservation, the only tables available with the outside café tables. Thinking quickly, I while at the outside table perusing the menu. I brought up the restaurant website and noticed there was a reservation available within 15 minutes of the time we arrived so I went ahead and tried booking it. After mentioning it to our server and checking with the manager, they graciously reseated us inside at our new comfortable table. I think some of the selections have been simplified in order to moderate cost of each item. For example, the escargot is served sans shells. The duck over moose is tasty, but not as rich as a true pate. The braised calves liver was excellent as was the duck breast salad, dauphinois potatoes and haricot vert green beans with almonds. A classic tarte tatin, and a raspberry crème brûlée capped off a wonderful impromptu meal. I'm glad for the service accommodation, so do note. It's best to make reservations before planning to come here to ensure availability as it is a quite popular place because of its pricing. The prix fixe menu has about 75% of the full à la carte menu. But they always give you the option of adding anything you would like as an à la carte item so never feel like you are limited to one or the other menus.
