I can't believe there is not a Yelp page for this restaurant.. it was AMAZING! Byfar the best meal I've had in London yet. If you go before 7pm they have a two course prix fixe menu for under £10... get there after 7pm and the menu price nearly doubles. We had the two course prix fixe menu and it is a total steal. I had steamed mussels with a garlic sauce for my first course and then a warm salad with a baked cheese (can't remember the name sorry) with a champagne dressing. Both entrees were huge and each tasted fantastic. Their house red was robust and full of flavor.. I almost wanted to buy a bottle and take it home, it was that good. The decor was typical for a French Bistro... candles on each table, dark red walls with French art, ect.. Our waiter was super friendly and easy to talk to. It took a while for our dessert to come, but otherwise the courses were well timed. This meal was so good I just had to spread the word.. the place cannot die in this recession!

An amazing meal, and a lovely respite, from the busy west end. We each chose a two course meal, and shared a bite or two with each other. The food was amazing, the day we went there was a check in offer, so we each got a glass of presecco. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Wow! Very underrated establishment. A proper brasserie in the heart of Soho, with the whole outdoorsy dining European vibe - felt very French indeed :) No idea what any bad reviews are about - one person's bad review shouldn't put you off coming here. It certainly wasn't our experience. - Very unpretentious, yet a still warm and intimate atmosphere. - Friendly, attentive wait staff - Great location for pre-theatre dining - Very good sized menu - quite varied with many tasty looking options, but not too huge to cause a problem The main event: the food. Boy-oh-boy - we simply did not expect this level of quality. Truly outstanding grub. - Great flavour combinations - the fois gras, apple and nut crunch in particular was superb. - The attention to detail on the plates was amazing - beautifully presented dishes. - The cooking itself was excellent - meat nice and pink in the centre, the egg still runny etc :) Lastly, the price was very very reasonable for what we had - £25 a head for 3 courses. No complaints there. Superb meal - for sure we'll be back soon.

Quite a surprise find in the area. Difficult to find such good lunch for £11. Onion soup and duck confit were delicious. Bonus point for no wait time on a saturday afternoon.

They went out of their way to make forthright suggestions about items and the wines by the glass. The winner was the pea and mint soup. The delicate balance between the fresh mint and the creamed peas was remarkably well done. The cafe is beautifully designed, warm and welcoming. It's the sort of place where you could sit and let the hours pass as you look at the cafe windows and the passersby.

We made reservations at 3pm but it seemed like they had several other tables available for walk-in. The server asked if this was our first time for high tea (not sure if this is protocol or if we were dripping with American vibes). Either way, they were great at walking us through everything to make sure we didn't have any questions. The table settings and overall vibe made me feel like we were super fancy! I ordered the Egyptian Chamomile tea and my husband ordered the Earl Gray. The menu had descriptions of the types of teas which can help you pick out what you'd like. I think we both liked my Chamomile better with a tad of sugar which was on the table. We happened to visit during the Chelsea Flower Show time, so they had 2 different types of specialty desserts- we ordered one of each. The sandwiches were all delicious- I loved the salmon and my husband wanted to ask for the Coronation Chicken Salad recipe. The scones were out of this world, and I have a new favorite food called clotted cream. The desserts were so, so good and had a little bit of everything- chocolate, tarts, fruity...you'll find something you like! To be quite frank, we did our due diligence with finding a place to have high tea. There were some that were almost twice as expensive as this place, and I have a hard time believing they would have been twice as good. If you're looking for a simple afternoon tea experience, make sure to add this to your short list. Brasserie Max is elegant, simple, and delicious- highly recommended!
