Terrible. Whole building stinks like a giant pile of manure mixed in a pool-size blender with some dead cattle/pigs and some steamy trash! They sell wormholed seats, wheelchairs, old jock-straps, ripped clothing, hunting gear with holes, greasy hinges: scratched and damaged merchandise. What the heck is wrong with people who give this place 1 & 2 stars? What are they expecting ... Sack 5 Ave., Bergdorf Goodman??? It's a flippin country thrift store for Pete's sake. There's everything you can imagine there. Yeah the place can be 'stuffy' to put it mildly during a hot summer, but there no way on earth they are going to air-condition the place. I'm grateful they have a heater in the middle of the store during the winter. As one other person put it, amongst some junk there are some real 'finds.' My wife is an art conservateur and she has found paintings the owners clearly didn't know what they were worth. It was a rare find, but it can happen. Discovering a gem amongst what many would consider junk is the thrill. I've found some rare records, tools and office supplies. You never know what you're going to find there. We go there once a month; sometimes more often. read more

This place definitely looks rough from the outside and the inside. But, I did have some luck finding vintage clothing! They do have stains, and maybe a few thin spots, but they can definitely be cleaned up nice! If you are looking for vintage clothes, I would recommend this place. They have a bunch of vintage Avon stuff as well, if you are interested in that. Overall, I would say that this place is a hit or a miss, because it seems whatever they find is just thrown on the shelf, not being cleaned or anything. I'm not sure if I would go back, maybe if I am in the need of some more vintage clothes. But, not my first choice. read more

Lots and lots and lots and lots of stuff. Some of that stuff is great. Some good. Some trash. I don't know if the owners know the difference though. Some items are waaaaaayyyy over priced because they're "vintage" or "antique." Repeat after me: old does NOT mean valuable. And here's another thing that really gets under my skin. As a resident of the area in which D&J is housed, I hate driving by with all their unsellable garbage piled out front of their business. Sandford and Son at least knew what they were doing and had a catchy theme song. D&J just looks like a junk storage lot. There are three other places in Orange that do the same thing and it makes our town look like a trash collection site. Who's buying the crap outside anyway? They leave their stuff out in the rain and snow and still charge $100 for the soaked loveseat! Seriously?!?!?! There are better places to get better deals and it won't feel like you have to pick your own garbage. read more

The building is super-packed and full of all sorts of stuff, junk, donated used furniture, antiques, vintage, etc.. You may experience stimulus overload, but it could be a cool place to rummage and find an unusual item. I always seem to walk out of there with no less than a handful of stuff and the staff is friendly and helpful. For those who love to rummage and the spirit of "junking", it's pretty great. read more

Wow - this place has TONS of stuff! I would agree that they need to up their standards when putting stuff on the shelves to sell. My first thought walking in was that the place was a total mess. Literally, stuff shoved EVERYWHERE. Tiny, narrow walkways, constantly stepping overs stuff - just a hot mess. There is somewhat of an attempt to keep things organized by category of items but there is so much stuff they need more room. Secondly, the prices were WAY higher than any other thrift store I've been too. Shockingly higher. I picked up an old beat up plastic Budweiser sign and it was 25$. I will say, the people were very nice and the parking wasn't bad. read more

I found two dinner plates to my china pattern. They were $48.00 at Replacements. I was thrilled to find them for $2.00 a piece. You have to have patience when going to a place like D&J. Your patience could pay off! read more

This place is AWESOME. Could be very overwhelming for an inexperienced thrifter though.... there is so much stuff that you can barely navigate through the aisles. I don't know what would happen if you were to try to purchase a piece of furniture....it would definitely take a while to move it out. There is TONS of stuff here at GREAT prices, but it is unorganized. I love that you never know what you'll find out here. Definitely worth a stop! read more

I have lived in Orange all my life and this used to be somewhere that you could get quality products at a fraction of the cost. The last time we went in, everything was over prices and not worth purchasing. A lot of the furniture was broken or scratched. In the back, several things were broken, rusty, or dirty. This place is a thrift store in the truest sense. But be sure you've set aside one hour minimum when shopping here. It's jammed packed. Toward the front is mostly furniture, (however among the tables and chairs you just may find sets of antiquated books and VHS tapes). Toward the back are various rooms, hallways, nooks and crannies. There's one room dedicated to books alone. There's a loose organization to the items, but you still need to do a lot of digging. If you're a true thrifter, you wont mind this. Today my husband and I walked out with 8 VHS tapes, several cookbooks, a 4 yard piece of wool fabric, 2 books of charcoal drawings (artist unknown) and a handful of beads for Mardi Gras and 2 pairs of fine Italian leather gloves. Be warned there is very little clothing if any and use the restroom elsewhere. read more

This thrift shop is definitely not lacking the amount of merchandise. I don't mind a little digging through shelves and whatnot trying to find collectibles or unique pieces, so this shop didn't bother me too much. Unfortunately, the heat and dust did. I could probably even deal with the dust if it wasn't just so stinkin' hot! Even so, if you're a thrifter or collector, you should definitely give it a shot.
