Holy sports complex!…read more This Ankeny gem is stacked and has something for everyone with 16 baseball fields, 9 soccer fields, 6 softball fields, and 5 football fields, concession stands with restrooms for each of those different sports' fields and 90 acres of turf. There's walking trails throughout with playgrounds, ponds and open space. We were here for the state softball tournament and I'm here to say PRSC did not disappoint! The dugouts were fabulous with tons of room and two entrances. The fields were quality (though they never watered them during the tournament so they were very, VERY dusty). Seating for parents was shaded. Bathrooms were nearby. Hitting cages were available for warm ups. And wowza. The parking lots were spacious and a short walk to your respective field. My biggest knocks were: - It is such a huge park it can be kind of hard to navigate. More signage would have been great. - Lack of shade throughout. (While seating at each field has plenty, the other areas where teams would hangout between games severely lacked it.) - Open spaces to play catch and warmup weren't as plentiful as one would think. Many open spaces around fields weren't even, with hills. Overall-- we enjoy playing at PRSC! It's near a lot of eateries and easy to get to.

Their equipment is up-to-date with all current trend workouts. They offer cross-fit courses here also! Now to the meat and potatoes, I only know a couple of indoor basketball courts in the metro area and this is one of them! This is honestly the only reason I come here, for the indoor basketball! I shoot-around in the mornings and with their two full size courts, at most there is someone else using a half court. You pretty much get the court to yourself and practice as much as you'd like. The owner/manager Dave is very friendly and can help you with your fitness goals. The Orange Planet also offers private basketball lessons, just ask about the details. I believe they offer various other courses too, but I don't have any experience with that.

We had a short road trip to Des Moines and this playground was close to the hotel that we stayed at. We had a little bit of time to kill so we stopped by on a late afternoon. When we are done playing we will walk up to the library located on the same grounds and hang out there for a while! So convenient. Upstairs, they have a lot of cardio machines, racks, weight machines, free weights, a cycle studio, and room to stretch. They offer many group fitness classes which I hope to try soon. I've heard great things about their childcare and how nice it is for families. The facility is kept clean and everyone is friendly. It's not quite as fancy as some gyms, but it gets the job done and isn't too expensive. Definitely the gym to join in Ankeny.

The park also has a big field used for kids sports including soccer and football. The nice part about the field is that there is a walking/bike path that goes around it. The park has two playground areas, one for younger kids and one for older kids. The younger kid side has swings and a play area with smaller slides. The older kids area has lots of things for the bigger kids to climb and play on. All in all it is a good family park.
