This was the first year that Sleepy Hollow hosted a Kingdom of Wizardry. Oh boy was it a success. Or to use a sports metaphor, it was a walk off grand slam home run. The weather was amazing. No rain during the day when we were there but the forecast did have it rain later in the day. Plenty of vendors and activities to keep everyone entertained. Especially appreciative was the adult beverage barn. Half the family went through Physical school. We learned how to do combat with a wand and sword and broom. We also learned some fun conjuring magic tricks. Both sets of teachers were amazing. The other half went through Nature School. They learned potions and magical beasts. The highlight was the Minotaur dancing the Macarena. Since this covers all the types of wizards and witchcraft themes, we had activities like Quidditch that was taught by the Iowa State Quidditch club, ax and knife throwing so you are prepared for battle, unicorn rescues by invading the darklord's castle, broom dancing classes, more battle activities like bow and arrow and melee. In addition to the activities and classes, I really loved the immersive nature of the event. All the staff was dressed in some kind of magic related costumes with many hand made ones. Came to Sleepy Hollow for the Renaissance Faire and I must say they do an amazing job of making you feel like you were transported back in time. There is plenty of parking and it's pretty easy to navigate getting in and out. And there was plenty of staff to direct you to meet he different rows. There are a ton of buildings for shops and good stands which is awesome and really adds to the feel! Negative, in order to get into the Ren Faire you need to cross a pretty scary wooden planked bridge. read more

Stayed for the State Fair. The team was so sweet and super accommodating. The shuttles are so handy. The location is so close. Seems like the next best thing to the fairgrounds. We can't wait to return for next year! read more

Over all this place has some potential. The staff I engaged with was extremely nice. It was very once that they have everything you need there, including boots for a few extra dollars. Only half the area had snow on it. I was told it's because it has been to warm and they needed it to be below 27 degrees to make snow. I found this odd because it has been below that temp for several days prior to visiting. They still charge full price even though only half of the place is available. It seemed a little crowded because of the lack of snow, but lots of people. The slope was a little aggressive for young beginners and I seen a few people, including my son get hurt. If they had more snow and some beginner/learning slopes that would have been helpful. Would I go back? Sure, but not anytime soon, maybe if we are back in the area next year. read more

It takes 20 seconds to get down the hill. There are only a few ways to go. It is filled with 17 year old boys trying to be crazy. You end up doing 50 runs to make something of it. Went there for mini golf... The course was in rough shape... Stuff on the green... No water in the water areas except for the small amounts of dirty standing water to attract mosquitoes which were swarming us. The landscaping bricks were not secure and falling over... Considering how many teen workers were sitting around doing nothing you'd think they could clean up some of that. Also there was recycling bins that had trash bags all around. It's expensive without much appeal. Seven Oaks in Boone is sooo much better. Only 1 tubing lane was open. You have to walk to the ski lift and then back to the tube lane. Seven oaks pulls you back up the hill on the tube and you're right there to go again. The club house is minimal. The concessions are minimal. The over all experience is very lacking. The customer service is decent. However, I'll make the much longer trip to Boone from now on. They have a lodge type atmosphere, better runs and concessions and there's a fire ring for the same money. read more

We found this place online and were excited by the attractions and the rates. When we arrived on Labor Day weekend, the laser tag and batting cages were out of commission. The bumper boats were "too small for adults" so we got an extra go-kart ticket. The mini-golf course was in serious need of maintenance. Bricks were coming loose and the green was torn up. There were no tee mats so getting your ball to stay put for your initial putt was a challenge. The climbing wall was a plywood tower with some footholds bolted to it. A friend said it best: "I feel like this is under second-generation ownership and will not make it to a third generation." read more

The scream park prices online listed gate prices less expensive than they were. Plus when we arrived since we didn't buy our tickets online we were surprised that we had to pay for parking. When I checked online before hand it didn't list a cost for parking and they hadn't charged for parking in the past. After we parked I rechecked on my phone and it still didn't say anything about having to pay for parking. The best part of the whole part was the haunted trail at the start of the park. After that it was really disappointing! It seems like they were drastically understaffed with actors and more than half of the animatronics and special effects were broken and not working. In summer the place has groups of children from day camps, church groups, etc. The Go Karts are fun ans safe. The water boats are also fun and safe. They have miniature golf, and a safe climbing wall. There are three (3) batting cages with various skill levels. They also have several carnival rides. THEY HAVE A PACKAGE DEAL that includes either a Go Kart Ride or a Water Boat Ride. to purchase the package with both is $12 +$7 The area is quite nice with trees and landscaping. I takek my grandsons there every summer. The winter activities are also great. However, I've been there when teen-aged boys did mess things up a bit. They are NOT around during the summer. In winter they can get pretty loud and do things that could cause injury to themselves and to others. read more

Had a great time there snowboarding, but staff was unfriendly and rude. The ski lift oporator chewed me out for a solid 5 mins for accedently sliding into some cones around the lift. Well it was a nice 40 degree day/night so we decided to try out the tubes at Sleepy Hollow. We had SOOO MUCH FUNNN!!!! The hills are extremely fast!!! My wiffe was screaming every time we went down, but she got up every time and went right back up to the top to do it again. One thing I would suggest would be to have a cozy lodge type area for adults to sit around a fireplace, or something to that effect. Now, the one thIng that thoroughly impressed me.....we had only gone down the hill once, while waiting in line to take the ride back up the hill, the equipment used to pull us up the hill broke. The employees working tonight did not miss a beat!!! They sent all of us to the ski lift to get to the top of the hill and used a snowmobile to pull the tubes to the top!!! I was thoroughly impressed that they didn't skip a beat and kept the tubing going!!! They hustled to make it happen!!! read more

Renaissance Faire every September. Mediocre to say the least about all of the Christians gallivanting in cos-play. No authentic attributes for the time period; no pagan or non-Christian influences present...seems to be intentional. Very good performance by the Bawdy Buccaneers, other than that, its not really worth the drive. read more
