Larry and his crew did an amazing job rehabbing the exterior of my craftsman home. The job entailed rebuilding the porch, repairing siding, custom mill work, painting and window glazing. All was done with a great attention to detail, craftsmanship and quality. Larry was also great at helping to select colors and provide options. I especially want to call out the crew who took great care of my property, ensured that no mess was caused for my neighbors, skilled carpentry, and left my property spotless when the job was complete. Larry was very communicative throughout the process going over expenses weekly and working with me to make adjustments in the budget. I will begin by highly encouraging anyone reviewing Larry and his company DP Palmer to read the entirety of this review especially if you are in the search for an outstanding contractor who will go above and beyond for his customers. 3 months before my wedding a tree fell on my home and did immense damage. I called over 13 contractors and got too busy, we don't take on projects like this over and over. Discouraged doesn't even come close to how I was feeling. I came across DP Palmer and read the reviews and felt like I had found the contractor who was going to bring me a sense of relief...and did I! Larry called me back immediately and then came over to my house within a day of calling to meet me and my fiancé personally. To introduce himself and get to know us and understand our situation. He knew going into it this wouldn't be an easy job especially dealing with Insurance. It wasn't...but Larry stayed professional and on top of things beyond what I could have ever imagined! I told him my wedding date and he promised me he would be finished in time for me to get married and not only was he going to be finished by September but he was going to fix my home ahead of schedule and he did! When Larry found that my home was way more damaged than expected he didn't waver. He ensured me he would do everything in his power to not just put my home back together, but make it stronger and more reliable then before and he did! He team up with only the best and highest skilled engineers, carpenters, roofers etc. to repair my home! Larry's knowledge and skillset goes way beyond what any other contractor could have accomplished with the damage that was done to my home and I have immense confidence saying that. If Larry hadn't taken on this project I would not be able to live in my home feeling as safe as I do now. Knowing that he and his team of amazing, reliable hard workers spent countless hours to not just repair my home but give me a better one is more than I ever could have hoped for. This was one of if not the most stressful experiences of my life. Planning a wedding while dealing with my home being in shambles. On top of that, dealing with the terrible customer service of my insurance company that lead me to crying on the floor of the bathroom at work while on the phone with them. Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. I'm a pretty tough judge when it comes to getting work done on my house, and Larry and his guys did an impeccable job. We have a 100 year old home that's been neglected by previous owners. We needed scraping, sanding, paint, caulk, wood replaced, windows replaced, and clever solutions to the various misdeeds from sloppy past contractors. There wasn't a single idea or question Larry couldn't handle, in fact everything we threw at him he improved. No headaches, no delays, an absolute dream for a homeowner. Larry was on site every day, his guys worked 6 days a week, always on time and always on task. It was seriously impressive. Additionally Larry really cares about his team and that in turn is reflected by them. The atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed the entire time. I've had some rough goes with contractors in the past and this was truly a healing experience. I can't begin to describe how great of an experience we had working with Larry on an exterior restoration of our house. Our 1910 craftsman home had a big issue with paint bubbling due to many layers of incompatible types of paint used over the years. Our home still had the original cedar siding and we couldn't imagine replacing it. At first we didn't know where to start. Most contractors were either painters that didn't handle the type of surface preparation needed to deal with paint bubbling or siding specialists that only provided removing and replacing siding. Just when we were losing hope of finding the right contractor, we read a very positive review on Angie's list about how Larry and his team were able to help someone else in a similar situation. I called Larry the next day and I am so happy I did. Although we originally reached out to Larry about painting, we were very happy to learn that his team could tackle a number of other projects for our home's exterior as well. We worked with Larry to come up with a holistic plan for a complete exterior restoration that fit our budget. Coming up with the plan was a fun process that got us very excited about the project. It also made us realize how passionate Larry is about making old homes shine! In addition to the difficult surface preparation needed before painting, Larry's team also handled a number of repairs. A section of siding had rotted and they were able to replace just that section with new cedar siding (preserving as much as possible). The back corner of the house is an addition and was originally done with a different siding that didn't match the cedar used for the rest of the house. Larry's team figured out how to replace the siding in this section with new cedar siding and have it blend in seamlessly with the original by interweaving it. The result far exceeded our expecationation of what was even possible! Larry's team also stained our fence, fixed window frames, repaired gates, and the list goes on. The front porch is where we worked with Larry to go beyond repairs and try something new and exciting. The biggest change was replacing a small window on the porch with an incredible piece of antique stained glass that Larry helped source. The stained glass was much taller and skinnier than the original window. Larry's team was able to create a new window frame and install the glass in record time. Larry went the extra mile to make sure the lighting was perfect and had back lighting installed behind the window. The ceiling of the porch was also replaced with new cedar panels with a translucent high gloss stain. Larry's team also created custom caps for the posts on the stairs leading up the porch to replace the warped metal ones that were there previously. The new caps are beautifully topped with amber glass. The combination of the stained glass, the glass caps, improved lighting and the refraction off the high gloss ceiling transformed the space into something really special. We couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend Larry and his team to anyone looking to restore an older home or add improvements in keeping with the home's original style. read more

I can't imagine a better team of restoration specialists than Larry and his crew at DP Palmer. I hired them last year to paint my house and ended up asking them to do so many projects I can't even count them all. Not only did they do an exceedingly great job of painting my house, they addressed every item on my inspection report (including foundation work, electrical issues, fortifying my attic, etc., etc.). And when I moved to CA and put my house on the market, they helped me long-distance, restoring the plaster ceilings to their original 1920s condition, selecting the perfect paint colors for the interior and making the house look so good it sold in under a week. This review has been a long time in consideration and long overdue. I've been engaging DP Palmer for almost 10 years and can not speak highly enough of their quality of work and work ethic. I first engaged DP Palmer on a renovation project at my home. At the time, I had engaged several subcontractors for various projects (flooring, framing, trim, paint, etc) and had experienced varied performance and schedule adherence until coming across DP Palmer. I can not speak highly enough of the quality of their work on this (and many other a) project. The DP Palmer team was first engaged to paint and trim out an attic area. They glazed all of the baseboard trim, windows, did a truly flawless job on the painting itself. I committed that I would not use another firm for such projects in the future, and there have been quite a few. I have a manufacturing company that has also engaged DP Palmer over the past several years. My initial commercial engagement with DP came after another contractor let us down on schedule. They have been engaged for framing, drywall, painting and trim and their work quality has been consistently excellent as with my first experience. I have also come to rely on DP for last minute projects here and there (I called them once on an exceptionally summer weekend when we had to install some emergency window air conditioning units and needed to be installed into non-standard window frames in the same day. They came and worked through midnight, building custom frames for the ACs and helping with the installation so that we were ready for Monday.) I was recalled to this forum after recently hiring DP Palmer again for a renovation of my living room, library and kitchen. They fit me into their schedule with limited notice and the team stayed on schedule (a rarity in Seattle anymore), even working until 9PM in some cases to get the work done on time. I have never been disappointed in their quality of work and experienced the same consistently excellent trim, glazing and quality as the first time working together with them. I hired Larry based on recommendations from other people that had used his team to take over a studs out remodeling project that had gone completely awry. Larry and his team turned the project completely around and brought the entire project under control. His team is well versed in all aspects of remodeling! It was my great fortune to find DP Palmer and Restoration when I had no idea what to do with garage doors I bought on Craig's List 5 months ago. I also got rid of a shed on Craig's list and thought I was on a roll, when I also found a guy (Phillip) who would refurbish the 8ft. and 16ft. doors for $250. I had no place to store them; and the clincher is he lived close by and could hold on to them when I was ready. Four months had passed and I began to be suspicious Phillip had sold them. I came home to find a message on my answering machine from his sister in Everett who said her husband was going to give them away if I didn't pick them up immediately. Shocked and greatly disappointed I found she had painted the 16ft. chocolate brown; not varnished. I talked with paint stores, furniture refinishers, and then professional paint contractors and luckily found Larry Palmer. I didn't know what to do with this mess, but Larry did. Because this wasn't his usual kind of project in scale or scope, he and his crew prepped and painted both doors white to match trim on my new garage in their spare time during evenings.
