Wow sugar! This was Definitely! DEFINITELY a sweet spot cafe! The menu was delightful, right off the hop I was engrossed in all the creative work they did with their menu and presenting the desserts. It's beautifully done. Service was alright, seeing as it was our first time here we didn't know if someone came to take our order or if we had to go up to order, and then when we ran out of water I had to go find the water jugs myself. So a little disappointing on that end. We went on a Thursday night and it was quite busy as well. Still got in without a reservation. And there is plenty of parking here in the Manning town centre which is convenient. We opted to try a little something from each category but definitely couldn't finish it all! The funnel fries weee the most interesting, very carnival food. We got the strawberry sauces ones. I personally enjoyed the Croffle the most, we got the dark chocolate and pistachio. And to finish it we were recommended The Hidden Gem, which was a crepe with a lava cake wrapped inside topped with Oreo crumbs, strawberry, banana, Belgian white and chocolate. The fruit on this one was refreshing paired with all the sweet we had going on but the lava cake was just too much for me. Definitely go to split to Hidden Gem it's big! Oh and did I mention like everything we ordered came with a side of ice cream! We also ordered their virgin mojitos, the blue lagoon and strawberry were really tasty. The decor is really cool here, very hip. Nice clean space and bathrooms.just be prepared for a sugar coma afterwards! Haha

Googled this before I went to check it out and was totally boggled at what to order as there are numerous amazing desserts to try. We settled on Lotus buttercream and cheesecake milkshake, sticky toffee pudding cake and vanilla ice cream, and a double chocolate scoop. We had EXCELLENT service with the server bringing samples to try. WOW this was an incredible desert place! Apparently they have burgers, poutine and hot dogs too. My only advice is you must try and go hungry.

Oh goodness, it is a whole store by Duchess filled with the most amazing, well like the name says: Provisions! There are cookie, cake and pie making equipment. A How-To kit for duplicating their famous macaroons. All the gadgets one would need to bake a masterpiece are in this delicious little side venture. They even have a wall stocked with jams, honeys, caramels, chocolates, nuts, salts, sugars and other high end, super must have ingredients to wow your taste buds (and show off to your dinner guests!) I bought a delightful crystallized honey as well as a jar of salted caramel that is so amazing it could be drizzled on a dust bunny and make it taste divine! I also added to my insane cookie-cutter collection, which I hide from my other half so he doesn't think I'm Kitchen Cuckoo! Oh, wait... I think he's on to me ;) This is definitely a must visit store if you are a culinary wizard, or just like to wing-it! It is a go-to destination to pick up that perfect hostess gift or for your super foodie friend. And even a $4 jar of something, in its beautiful package, will make anyone feel like a Duke or a Duchess!

They carry cookware, bakeware, bread making products, books, teas, chocolates, extracts and compounds, preserves, canning supplies, mixers, cake stands, serveware, kitchen linens, aprons and so much more. I can't believe that it has taken me this long but I finally made it! Yelo'd is Whyte Ave's famed…read moreFilipino and Asian inspired ice cream shop and I have heard nothing but rave reviews about them since they opened in 2018. Named Favourite Dessert on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list, "yelo" means ice in Tagalog... And this shop is going to change your whole ice cream world. Located in Old Strathcona, Yelo'd used to be located down the street (on the other side of the tracks) in a much smaller space. They have since moved right into the action and are now in a gorgeous historic building, adding so much to the vibrancy of the avenue. I've watched this building (originally the Dominion Hotel built in 1903) struggle over the years to find the right combination of business tenants and I think that they've finally done it! The interior of the shop is large and spacious but the most striking feature is the elaborately decorated Victorian wooden porch at the entrance. You can just picture yourself sitting out there on a hot summer day with a delicious ice cream in hand, taking in the sights of Whyte Ave. The vibe inside is a bit more modern with gleaming pastry and ice cream cases, mural-covered walls, and neon lighting. The colour scheme leans purple which makes complete sense once you realize that ube (purple yam) is the signature flavour at Yelo'd. The shop feels bright and fresh, exuding an upbeat atmosphere while still maintaining a specific identity. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with the intention to taste and experience as much of Yelo'd as I possibly could! There was only one employee serving us and she was incredibly gracious as we proceeded to bombard her with our large and varied order. I certainly appreciated her efficiency and kindness. Before we even begin the topic of ice cream, it bears mentioning that Yelo'd offers a whole cafe menu of various coffees. This also includes tropical sodas and milkshakes. You could honestly visit just for the cafe aspect and to sit with a delicious beverage (and yes, I will be doing this). Most drinks can be made hot or iced which is handy depending on the season outside. I was drawn to their Iced Ube Latte ($5.50) which seemed like a great way to carry the purple theme into my coffee. Swirls of purple ube syrup mingled with the coffee and milk. It wasn't long before the entire beverage wore a violet hue. I liked this coffee a lot. It was sweet in just the way that I like it and I believe that it may have been made with evaporated milk which would also account for some of the sweetness. The ube flavour (and colour) made this beverage interesting and unique. I could see myself ordering one of these regularly, both hot and cold. Yelo'd also makes this same latte with pandan or yema, which I'm sure are equally delicious. I also noticed that there are seasonal drinks to choose from and that there's a secret staff drink menu??! Clearly, I have a lot more to discover in terms of sips at Yelo'd! There are so many exciting ice cream options at Yelo'd!! Not only do they offer a wide range of hard ice cream but their soft serve has become pretty famous in its own right. However, there's even more beyond that because they make sundaes and ice cream sandwiches as well. No matter what you're craving, they've certainly got you covered. One of the main things that I wanted to try was their straight-up Ube Soft Serve on a charcoal Waffle Cone ($6.50). Yelo'd usually has two soft serve flavours on the go at all times which rotate, but they always keep ube on hand. You can get one solid flavour or a swirl of two. On my visit the second flavour was macapuno (coconut). I decided to forgo the swirl because I really just wanted to try their ube soft serve all on its own (and in all of its glory). This perfectly simple cone was magic. The quality of the soft serve was top-notch and ultra creamy without an ice crystal in sight. The flavour of the ube was nutty and somewhat similar to vanilla, captured wonderfully on this cone. Of course the violaceous colour is part of what makes it so much fun! I loved the crunchy and sweet waffle cone, the charcoal black acting in striking colour contrast. This soft serve is some of the best in the whole city, if not just the overall best. (I sometimes go around saying that hard ice cream is "over" and this soft serve only convinced me further.) Next, I had to try the most popular item on the menu and the dessert synonymous with the Philippines; Halo Halo (Philippine shaved ice with jellies, jackfruit, coconut strings, red beans + your choice of soft ice cream or scoop - $12.00). I find it incredibly exciting that halo halo has arrived in Edmonton and that there are a few places to try it these days. "Halo halo" means mix-mix in Tagalog, which is exactly what the dessert entails - a mix of ingredients that you get to mix together! It's like a big Filipino sundae filled with an array of flavours and textures. Halo halo can be prepared in a bunch

I love how the flavors offered are unique and it stuck to the theme of Filipino icecream. I tried the Matcha Berry and the Keso+Ube cake. The keso+ube cake was so yummy and it was the perfect sweetness. I especially liked the ube cake as it added a delightful texture to the icecream. I wasn't that big of a fan of the Matcha Berry since it was more sour tasting and the matcha wasn't that strong. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to try more flavours though. The truck doesn't have a fixed location so remember to check their Instagram page before going.

Always a great choice for ice cream! Lots of regular classics and a good choice of monthly new flavors too. This local shop is tucked in by the bookstore & liquor store stripmall and across from the restaurants, butcher and coffee on the 4 corners (as the locals call it in Ritchie). As it is a small shop (aka small bench inside), I usually grab a pint or if the weather is nice, a cup or cone to enjoy outside. There's some benches just at the corner and some sitting options if you cross the ave. Parks nearby, including a dog park and Millcreek Ravine. Both not far. Just depends on how active you want to be when you enjoy your ice cream. Price point is average for what is being charged in Edmonton. So this is still in a treat category.

I don't live in this area, so the walk was further than I had anticipated. So I got to Kind Ice Cream already feeling the effects of some heat stroke. And while ice cream isn't probably the best solution (drinking water would be better) it's not the worst, right? Ice cream is a good idea, or the dairy-free alternative is since I'm lactose-intolerant. Kind Ice Cream has three choices for me from their regular menu, and they usually have a dairy-free alternative in their rotating menu. I went for one of their standards Lemon and Jammy Raspberry. I'm a fan of anything Raspberry flavour and this was delicious. My first visit at Kind Ice Cream but not my last. 0 out of 5 for heat stroke. 5 out of 5 for the ice cream.

Match mint was 9/10 good. Overall texture of the ice creams was 10/10 - very creamy, rich, smooth. I also sampled the banana honeycomb and it was 10/10. Just banana pureed but the honeycomb was such a sweet addition. Nice atmosphere to hang out and eat inside or outside on the big picnic table. Overall pretty happy with my experience here.
