My daughter wanted for her birthday a Keylime pie I couldn't find it anywhere went to seven different pastry shops and none were open because it was Monday. Macaroons and goodies was open and I didn't think they'd have a Keylime pie but they did and it was marvelous. Mikado cake (coffee, chocolate, walnuts) Montelimar cake (nuts, nougat, pistachio) Peach Frangipane (almond cream) I happened to be in the area of this local bakery/sweets shop. Easy to see storefront and streeparking right infront of the store. Staff was friendly but not overly so - she asked if it was my first time in and answered my questions when I didn't know some of the fancy Fench lingo. So many different sweets and treats and everything looked lovely. The space inside was also nice and would be a great place for a date for coffee and a sweet treat. They also had some really nice gift ideas such as jam, macarons, cookie packets, and even halal beef gelatin. The Mikado cake was Delicious. Moist, well balanced, not too sweet, with a nice crunchy walnut element. The Montelimar cake was the best. Not too sweet, creamy, cake was moist. Definitely one of the Best pistachio-based mini cakes I have ever had. The Peach Frangipane was pretty standard in my opinion. Curst was a little dark for my liking, super crumbly and rim was super dry. Centre was the sweet almond-flavored custard but a little dry and not very flavorful for my taste. Overall cakes were some of the best I've ever had, the decor was lovely for dine-in, and the appearance of the desserts/sweets was immaculate. read more

Macarons & Goodies second location recently opened up in St. Albert. Boasting over 21 flavors of Macarons and dozens of other house made French specialties! Faves for me include the Lavender honey, raspberry, & salted caramel Macarons. Close runner up to pistachio! I have yet to make my way through tasting all 21 varieties so an update will be required ;-). The quality was much fresher here than what I had bought at the downtown YEG location - traffic was busy here. Everything looked great and the taste was generally good, but it wasn't the best experience. The raspberry chocolate cake was half frozen when we cut into it about an hour after purchase and the macarons were very inconsistent. Five of eight macarons exploded on impact and crumbled into a thousand pieces while three were perfect. Not comfortable returning as the quality didn't match the price for me. read more

Yaaaaay! I'm so happy this is right here in my neighborhood. First impressions? Pretty neat looking place. I love the Victorian-style decor and the big windows. The food menu is extensive, albeit a little difficult to read. I have yet to try the meals, but I'll be sure to update my review when I do. As for the baked goods, everything looks delicious. I had never had a real, proper macaron before coming here, but I imagine this is exactly how they're supposed to taste. There's what seems like a million flavors to choose from, which means there's something for everyone. The lattes are lovely and will keep me coming back as well. Macarons & Goodies does have to contend with a neighboring cafe a few doors down, but I feel hopeful that the excellent word-of-mouth that this place has been getting so far will keep it busy! read more

This one was odd. Grabbed a large amount of macarons to share with friends and family. Some were amazing some were awful. I had one that I thought was one of the best I'd ever had, then a second that tasted stale and soap like. Wife did not enjoy hers, some of the kids loved theirs, others hated them. Very odd. Everything looked amazing. Took my daughter for a daddy daughter date. We were excited to look at the incredible selection of pastries offered. We both selected the cinnamon swirls.. however due to technical issues the credit/debit machine would not process the transaction. After multiple attempts and the good cooling down after being warmed, it was suggested that I leave and get cash... I left. read more

This French style bakery is much like the famous Duchess Bakery without the huge line ups. I visited on a quiet weekday afternoon and was impressed with the selection of baked deliciousness that looked at me through the display case. I chose an eclair and a truffle. I am a bit particular when it comes to baked goods. Both were of excellent quality and seemed fresh. I did not see the price of the eclairs but the truffles were $1.25 each. Seating is very comfortable and elegant with French provincial style couches and tables. Now for areas that can be improved, the number one area would be customer service. The girl who served us was somewhat unapproachable and seemed stand-off ish. After we ordered, she seemed to mellow out. Later on, a customer came in and I observed that the customer waited an unacceptably long time before anyone came out of the back to assist her. The same employee who served us was somewhat abrasive towards this customer when she asked a question. Again, the employee mellowed out as soon as the customer ordered. Besides an Improvement in customer service, I found the menu on the mirrors very difficult to read. Hopefully I'll be back one day and see a more friendly interaction with employees. Based solely on product quality, this place deserves a 4 star review. read more

This place is absolutely delicious. i found it through skip the dishes and it absolutely covers the delectable dessert cravings. The only reason I chose 4 instead of 5 stars is that that prices are on the higher end. But so worth the price tag haha So for me it will be a once in awhile thing. Today I got their carrement chocolat, vanilla, lemon poppyseed, strawberry maple and cotton candy macorons, and their caramel milkshake. The first one was so rich that I could only eat a couple bites haha and that means it's the best there is that I have found in 20 years lol ladies?? If you are craving chocolate something once a month? I highly recommend this dessert!! Pics of the little cake/mouse included in this post. The Macarons are simply perfect. They melt in the mouth. They are vibrantly coloured and one is more than enough :) they are not overly sweet so that's a huge plus haha huge shout out to this hidden away dessert heaven. Well done. read more

This is the most fabulous place for any baking treat in st. albert I have been there about a dozen times- it is my first choice. I have also introduced their business to about another dozen friends. They are friendly, professional and caring. Their coffee is great but you do have to pay for refills. Their prices are a little high but defintely worth it. yesterday- my daughter in new york did an on line order for mothers day- she said they were the only bakery in town that offered deliveries. She had no idea that she had picked the winning place but now she knows and so do lots of others. Here is the picture that I sent of the items to lots of people. The delivery person forgot my strawberry lemondade and the owner Fadoura personally delivered it to me on her way home after a super busy day- it does not get better than that and that lemoname was the best ever with fresh strawberries in them. I challenge everyone to at least try it- you will wonder why you never did it before. Lots of people dont know about this place so I hope this review helps. read more

This would be my 2nd home if the staff were more welcoming. I think on a few occasions they were but the other occasions were truly off-putting. They do have tasty treats but the freshness is hit and miss. I like the ambiance and decor. Please up your game! read more

So, I wrote this review on Google couple days ago, and the owner responded by saying "The owner does not have time replying on fake profile"? They just respond to bad reviews with such rudeness. If it's a bad review, they refuse to deal with it. This place was really good when it first opened. Cake was always fresh and tasted good. Then, a couple months later everything changed. Overnight, cake and pies shrunk and prices went up. The pie crust tastes like the frozen one you get at the store and is definitely different from the one they used to make. The cream in the cake tastes weird. I learned later on they freeze their cake and microwave it in the morning. Also their croissants are NOT made by the cook. They're the frozen ones you get in bulk!! This is very disappointing given the prices and false advertising! I know the owner will probably respond by saying all their food is freshly made daily and all but I know it's not. They think the customers won't notice these changes... read more
