Entry was a very fairly priced $5 per person. We were given a map, which if I'm being honest, helped guide us to the parking but didn't offer quite as much help later with the trails, LOL. Really they need some better signage up for the trails. More than half the time we weren't sure which trail we were on or if we were even on a trail that was marked on the map... Good thing the park ranger told us we were "free to explore!" Some of their plaques with information on them could use replacing too, as sun or weather damage has made them fairly illegible. (I'm one of those weirdos that actually likes to stop and read those things, haha. I especially enjoyed the one that had the history of the Reimers family on it.) Seemed to be plenty of parking, all paved too. There was a really nice station at the first parking lot with indoor plumbed bathrooms, a shady overhang, picnic tables, and water fountain (it even tasted pretty good!). The trail that runs along and overlooks the river is probably the "main event" for most visitors to this park, however it is also somewhere you can get adventurous with rock climbing, mountain biking, and riding on horseback. Pretty neat! There were also trails that led all the way down to the river, where you were permitted to swim and/or fish. Hooray for somewhere you can do unattended swimming! Sometimes that's a rarity, so I appreciate you can get in, splash around, and cool off here. =) My partner and I really only explored about half of the trails available at this park, so we may have to come back again sometime to do the rest. The big loop looked to have some good elevation changes and scenery that most parks near Austin are mostly flat or boring hills.

Came to Ranch Park in Dripping Springs to see the Mayhem Monster Truck show. I've never been here…read moreand it's been ages since I've seen a monster truck show. Sounded like something fun to do after work. From the main road you can see a sign that says Ranch Park. Just follow the short road to get to the parking lot. There is a small dirt area you can park. Take the stairs down to the building. In front of the building there is parking, but on the side of the building there is even more parking. So, plenty of parking. There was a long line of people waiting to get in. But the line moved pretty fast. Didn't take long before I got inside. My ticket was a QR code on my phone. Easy to scan and go through. They did offer food once inside. Hot dogs, hamburgers, frito pie, IYKYK. Basic food. Nothing fancy. There was a small area where you could buy monster truck t-shirts, and light sticks for the kids. I think when you buy your ticket on line, you can also pay to ride in the monster truck. I think it was $15.00. And you ride in the bed of the truck in the back. The truck goes around in a circle a couple times. The truck named Tantrum was giving the rides. The show was from 6pm to 7:30pm I feel like it started later than that. Tantrum was still giving rides at 6:30pm. When the rides were over the trucks came out to introduce themselves. Then the national anthem. Then, that's when the show actually started. It was 4 monster trucks and 2 jumps. They went around in a circle, hit a couple jumps, and then let the next truck go. There was a motorcycle that came out and did a number of jumps. Pretty amazing the height he got. All in all, it was entertaining. I left a little early just to beat the traffic getting out of there. Worked out great. I am glad that I brought ear protection, just what I use when I'm at the gun range. And that worked out perfectly. Pretty much everyone there including lots of kids, all wore some kind of ear protection. Fun, entertaining night. Both young and mature.

The instruction at Madrone Ranch is superior and the prices are reasonable. While their lesson program is not as large as some of the other barns in Austin, this also means you get a more tailored-approach to your instruction. Madrone Ranch is "new" in the sense that it's only in its 4th year of operation. Since its inception in 2002, Madrone Ranch has grown into one of Austin's leading equine operations. There are beautiful trails to go on along the perimeter of the property, with overlooks out across the Texas Hill Country. Madrone Ranch is also located within an "equestrian community" which means you could have your horse and live there too! There is a sales office on the property if you are interested in looking into the remaining lots for sale.

Oct 28 is Emma's Birthday... so Magnolia Hotel decided to open the doors to celebrate! Free tours…read morefrom 10am-2pm! I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!

We've been regulars for 3 years now…read more Since this is the TX Hill Country, it's easier to grow meat than veggies. ;) But, some wonderful veggie growers come in from the surrounding areas where the soil is naturally deeper. Usually there are 2-6 veggie vendors, depending on the season (more veggies available in the spring, early summer, and mid to late fall, and not so much in the heat of summer, which is with the local seasons). There are probably 4-8 meat vendors each week; they are usually more predictable as the weather doesn't affect their products as much: everything from beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, bison, and sometimes pork. Also eggs and milk. All sorts of specialty food and other vendors cycle through, probably 5-15 vendors per week, from bakeries, to dried fruit, from honey, soaps, jewelry, ginger root beer, ethnic foods, to the Hays County Master Gardeners, the Wild Bird Store, and more. We love the wonderful family friendly ambience with musicians serenading us while we shop, kind and patient fellow customers, and knowledgable vendors. I learn something new every time I come. One of the highlights of our week! Check it out. As noted, because of the TX heat and rain, occasionally the location will be changed to Ranch Park with inclement weather, while during the heat of the summer, the market always shifts to it's summer schedule of 9-12. Brilliant if you ask me. No one wants to shop in the afternoon of the dead of summer! The rest of the year the market is in the afternoon, from 3-6pm.

This is a great weekly farmers market in Dripping Springs. They have a great variety of…read morevendors...farmers, artists, vineyards, and others. There are local musicians playing live music every week. It's well run and managed. Get there when they open for the best selections. They do run out of things, so if you arrive in the last 30 minutes, some vendors may be sold out. Also, produce is seasonal, so it's not the market's fault if some types of produce aren't available in the months when it doesn't grow. I love being able to support local farmers and businesses. I do wish they'd move it back to Founders Park, but it's understandable that it may not be possible.

I shouldn't have wasted my time and just emailed Jim right from the start. He was immediately responsive. Through a series of emails over the course of a week, he offered a couple of options at different price points. I should mention that I was trying to arrange our trip for peak season and was a bit late for booking travel at that time. Unfortunately, our trip was cancelled due to the pandemic. But Jim came through again, helping us to obtain a refund. Through all our interactions, Jim was helpful, informative and pleasant. Perhaps most impressively, he always responded promptly -- I think always within 24 hours. I highly recommend Amazon Adventures and will contact Jim again when we are able to travel once more.
