The room itself had features I didn't expect (like a patio area where I was able to set up snacks/lunch) and the AV was incredibly easy to use. The customer service was also amazing! John helped me out from check in to when I left and made sure I had everything I needed and made sure my clients knew where to find the room I was in. He even sent me a follow up email with a scanned copy of the business cards I accidentally left on the podium in the room! Highly recommend if you need a place for an event, meeting, or need to set up shop for the day!

However, as an attendee, I was pleasantly surprised at what was here in the middle of an industrial area and would definitely keep this on my list of possible venues for events.

With the recent sale to Athletic Brewing, Ballast ceased operations for about 2 years now. The San Diego beer landscape has been changing the last couple of years with consumers drinking less beer, choosing non-alcoholic options and preferring canned cocktails. It was a wonderful space with a large walk bar, extensive dining area and tons of high top tables. The only gripe was the parking which was always difficult to find a spot. If you are a fan of Ballast Point, definitely stop by before they close the Miramar location.

Place was pretty slow around that time, we got seated pretty fast and as soon as we got to the table, the carts came. Food was pretty good as i remembered, and the items that weren't available in the carts were ordered separately and came out very fast. They didn't ignore my water levels this time around. One call out is they're very strict about leftovers during AYCE. So just watch out for that. We had 3 half pieces of eggroll left and 2 pieces of shumai and were asked to try to eat some more haha.
