Pizza marinara. Buonissima!

Amazing service and food. I was there with two Italian friends, who were also impressed. The pizza marinara was incredible, in all its simplicity. Will absolutely come back the next time I'm in Florence!

Diabolical pizza...amaze balls!

The best pizza I've ever had, seriously! We didn't have reservations so grabbed some wine and waited @25 minutes on a Tuesday evening. I'm sure you'd need reservations later in the week. Started the meal with melon and prosciutto which was simple and delicious. We had the Diavola for our pizza. The dough was unbelievable and had just bright amount of spicy salami and olives. The house red wine paired nicely and they even had a bottle of IPA (yes, people from the PNW love IPA) which was from Amsterdam and very good. I rarely order dessert but we asked the waiter to bring the best and while I have no idea what it's called it was FABULOUS!! Our clean plate and happy palates are all that was left. Make it a point to go to Da Gherardo, you will not regret it!

This place can be tricky to find if you don't know exactly where to go. It is mostly locals and the menu is in Italian but you really can't go wrong with any of the pizzas. It is traditional wood fire pizza and is so good. Very fair prices on everything including their delicious house wine.

The area is pretty safe and fun to walk as it is tourist oriented with multiple shops and plenty to see and do. Great ambiance, we were greeted and sat down at a table immediately when we arrived. The waiter was helpful and provided good service. The food was great! My wife and I enjoyed our plates and even decided to trade half way through meal to experience both dishes. Luci ordered pasta fagioli, I have made pasta fagioli in the past as a good friend of mine had taught me how to make it. This dish was delicious and well seasoned, the consistency was a bit thick but I actually loved it. I ordered a Penne Pasta with shrimp and fresh tomatoes. The pasta was al dente, the shrimp and sauce was delicious with a hint of spiciness which created a great balance of flavor. We ordered a bottle if house table wine to enjoy with our dinner. At first, I was not sure about the wine, once it aired out for 15 mins it was great! We definitely enjoyed our dinner. At the end we were given a complementary shot of limoncello. Delicious as well. Great experience.
