Taylor our lead was always available for questions when we had them and even made a few adjustments when we asked and they were done without one bit of pushback from the team. We had to have the stump ground due to being more exposed than expected once the work started and they coordinated with a company that did it at a very reasonable rate and time that did not disrupt the workflow of the overall project. After talking with several other companies that came out to look at our project and then having to chase them for an estimate, we decided to keep looking for a company that would be more responsive and easier to work with. We found Georgia Oak on Angie (previously Angie's List). We did further due diligence by looking at the reviews on Angie, Yelp and Google as well as checking reviews and complaint history on the Better Business Bureau. They seemed to have an impeccable reputation. So, we decided to have them give us an estimate despite being the only company that charged us a small fee for giving an estimate. That charge is deducted off the project cost if you use them. Brandon showed up on time and gave us the estimate right on the spot which was a pleasant surprise. It was also a firm fixed price estimate. We were satisfied with their price and quickly made the decision to proceed. They handled submitting the building permit and the inspections. In our case, we needed a survey and engineering drawings which they also coordinated. The entire process was very smooth. They scheduled our project in a timely manner. Carolina, Candido and the entire crew were a pleasure to work with throughout the process. They were quite flexible to adjust design details along the way without any talk of additional cost. The only additional cost that we paid was when we made the wall a good bit longer than originally planned, which is only reasonable. In summary, Georgia Oak does what they say they are going to do. They show up when they say they will. They do good quality work and are very easy to work with. They coordinated the entire process including permitting, engineering and surveying. I realize that charging for an estimate may deter some folks from using them, but I'm glad that we didn't let that stop us. My experience with this company could have been avoided had we agreed what the size of the parking…read morelot was before the project even started. I gave them a map of the size of the parking lot. It was 750 square yards of asphalt. Once we started we quickly realized that the job finished covering half a driveway. Which clearly left the lot looking unfinished. This was our error. Wish we would have seen it on the map first, regardless they almost had enough to finish the job, but they had to come back 3 days later. All in all they did what we asked and they completed the job, here is where it went downhill. This new addition I expected to be around 100 square yards (really 89 but we went high). This guys comes back with 1240 yards! What?! You telling me we added 400 sq yards. He says no u didn't add that much; thats just the total of the park lot. We measured out that parking lot personally and we calculated at most 845 square yards of total asphalt. We also used google maps to measure out the total yards. We then met the guy out on site to measure the lot. This guy would measure half way between to points and stop (multiple by 2) he says bang thats the length. So we use exact measurements he uses estimates of some abstract point in his head that's half way, and we are still 400sq yards off from each other. We could not agree with his form of measurement and they constantly argued with us on our numbers. We did pay them for 890 sq yards more than what we estimated but less than 900 because we felt google backed up our numbers. After 3 weeks they did cash our check, but we have issues with trash paved in the parking lot. We will see if they back up their one year warranty against defects. It might earn them another star.2.0. It would be lower but his assistant Deborah was very kind. The paving job was solid for the most part other than the one soda can. That said they did beat 2 other paving companies in price. Had we agreed on the square yards before the project started this could have been avoided. However I glad I was forced to measure my lost and find google maps cause Im not left taking the word of someone taking half measurements.
