I have weeds growing out of my deck boards that sits 5-6 feet off the ground! My deck frame/support boards measure 3", he put a board 2 1/4" on top leaving a large gap for dirt, debris and water to collect and sit on top of my deck frame/support boards underneath resulting in weeds. This will also cause rotting on my deck frame/support boards. Railing boards were cut short and uneven too. He was cussing throughout the whole project replacing deck floor joists, floor boards and rails. He couldn't lift the joists and had to wait for a friend of his to come help him lift them, it took him 4 days to remove the wood screws in my existing floor boards grinding away at screws using the wrong bits or stripped bits. He said it was due to his battery on his drill being low but this happened everyday. I asked him a few time to make sure he picked up all the wood screws so I wouldn't get a flat on my riding lawn mower. I ended up finding almost 20 screws he left around my deck and yard and had to buy a magnet sweeper to make sure I picked them all up. It took him over 2 weeks to complete, a job that should've only taken 3-4 days. I know because I've had this done twice before. He spent a lot of time on the phone answering calls and returning phone calls to people while he attempted to work on my deck. When I told Aaron about weeds growing out of my deck, his response was it will cost me to come fix it and he sent me an invoice. He expects me to pay for his mistakes??? He proceeded to tell me he was a one man show and he has no retirement (his words). Like this is supposed to make me feel sorry for him and an excuse for shoddy work?

The bid was for $4,275.00. When I met with Ed Brogan at the house, the first thing he said was, "I went to the wrong house." I thought he was explaining why he was several minutes late for our meeting. But no. He siad, "I actually went to the wrong address when I was quoting your job," on a house one block over. I asked what that meant to my project. He said, "Well, I'm done. I can't do your house for less than $7,500.00." So he wanted $3,225 more than he quoted. I asked him if he was willing to reduce his $7,500 bid since it was his mistake. He got angry at just the question. I told him I had quoted much work in my career, and if I underbid or missed something, I took the hit and did the project for what I quoted. It was like he couldn't understand what I was saying. He started shaking his head. I said, "I think doing the job at or near what you quoted is the honorable thing to do." His response was to turn his back on me and start walking away. I said, "excuse me," and he turned back, only to say, remarkably, "I'm nice and you're not nice." What? Now he's going to insult me? Ed Brogan is not an honorable person, and in fact sent off all of the vibes of a bait-and-switch con man. Who drives to the wrong address when you have GPS? Who doesn't stand behind their quote? Who won't even try to find a middle ground? Deal with Brogan's Home Painting at your great peril. You are guranteed an unpleasant experience, and with his attitude about customers, who knows what kind of job they will do. The experience was so unpleasant that I wish I could give Brogan a minus rating. It's a company owned by a dishonest person. BTW, I had a witness to this whole conversation.

The worker bees are probably paid minimum wage for working their tails off, so it shows in the quality (or lack there of) in their workmanship, since they don't know what the customer is being charged. I get it, the faster you go, the higher the profit, so you hope the customer doesn't bother to take the time to take a good look. But the lack of attention to detail and prep leaves me with the following advice: "if the price is right and you are about to sell your house, sure, risk it. BUT, if you plan to stay in your house and don't want to have to paint for a number of years, don't use them." I'm new to the Midwest, where painted Stucco front and wood panel sides/back of homes is common. I've watched as other houses in the neighborhood have been painted; there is typically a day I see the house dotted and lined with caulk, and then it is painted the next day. The fact the prep and painting ALL happened in a single day while I was at work leaves me thinking the lack of prep is where time was saved, which I would argue is more important than the actual painting. Simply put, I would not recommend. Earning a profit seems more important than earning a respectable reputation. I prefer a company who just does it right from the beginning, rather than me having to waste my time making a list of touch ups needed. We also discovered that they broke 2 of our sprinkler heads by driving over them.
