As other reviews have noted, this is not the cleanest nail spot on the block. That said, what they lack in aesthetics they make up for in the quality of work they put in, especially as far as gel manicures go. In my experience, this is the best price you'll get for a gel manicure that lasts well into week three. Sure, it's a little run down, but you can't beat the value, selection of gel colors and work that they do here. I've had hit or miss experiences here with walking in and being able to be serviced immediately, so if you have somewhere to be I'd recommend making an appointment ahead of time. The place wasn't crowded for a Friday afternoon and they took me immediately as a walk-in. I picked my color and sat in the pedicure chair. Looking around the place was a bit rundown and not the cleanest. There are chips in the paint on the walls and supplies just seem thrown around. There was some dust on the nail polish racks. The lady doing my pedicure told me to put my feet in the water. She was a bit rude, barking orders at me. It was scalding hot! I immediately took my feet out and told her it was too hot. She insisted I put my feet back in. I did and immediately took them out again and started yelling that the water was burning me. She rolled her eyes & finally adjusted the water, but she was obviously annoyed with me & made it freezing cold. I was already over the whole experience and didn't say anything. Then she pulled out a filthy, used nail file to file my toenails. I pulled my foot away and asked her to use a new file. She rolled her eyes at me again & took out a new file. She pulled out the cuticle nippers and I told her my skin is very sensitive. She proceeded to cut my second toe on the left foot. I felt the cut & jumped, but she didn't say anything and put pressure on the cut to try to stop the bleeding. She kept trying to cover the toe so I wouldn't see it, then dabbed the blood with a paper towel several times. She never acknowledged the cut or apologized for it. Then she applied the nail polish, which upon closer inspection is uneven and doesn't fully cover the sides of my nails. Complete botch job. I sat to dry for ten minutes, paid, and left. I will NEVER return to this salon. Their sanitation practices are nonexistent and they are rude. I'm just hoping I don't end up with an infection from the cut. read more

Warning! I visited this place for the first time this evening and first and foremost I have to say that it's very dirty and the sanitation is very questionable. Everything looks dirty and dusty. I watched will I got my service and no one was cleaning, wiping anything down. Even the towel she used at first I thought was used but it's almost like they air dry them so they look wrinkled and they are grey and hard. There are stains that are NOT paint on the walls it looks like food or something. There was a technician sneezing over her client without washing her hands. I was in such a bind because I had to leave for vacation the next day but I won't be back. BIG ISSUE: I used my card to pay for my service within 15 minutes of me leaving the salon someone used my card number to make online purchases at Target. 3 back to back purchases totaling over $1k. My fraud alerts were blowing up as I was driving home. I had to remember back-I gave my card to the technician who walked away, charged it and brought me the receipt-the timing is insanely ironic. I had to close my card and reset everything. Everyone knows how annoying that can be. Go elsewhere they have some cleaning up to do in all the ways. I should've not come back here! I went back this time giving it a second chance and it looks worse now (appearance and work style). The ladies had a terrible attitude when checking in. The lady doing my pedicure rushed the cleaning of the toes and REUSED all the materials. She rinsed the pumice with the same water I soaked my feet in and threw it back into her toolbox. The toolbox is incredibly dirty. The cost of new filers costs almost nothing but here the ladies reuse the filers. The person also did not clip my toenails straight see images. I took my sister for acrylics and the lady who worked on her set was charging me extra money for a top shiny coat. Be aware that they can be sneaky, I clarified with someone else at the place and they told me there's no charge for a top coat. This place gives you the best service for the most reasonable price. The employees do such a good job on your nails for such a low price. The establishment isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, in fact it almost seems grimy, but that is just part of the charm. The most important thing is that it is clean, the tools and equipment are cleaned and hygiene is rightfully intact here. For a gel manicure it is only 25$ when it is usually 35$ in most Manhattan or Brooklyn establishments. The women working are sooooo pleasant and personable. The wait was short which was a first. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Woodside and I remember waiting 30-45 minutes with appointment and all. The manicure was quick, and I honestly did not like how my nails turned out. See the pic for yourself. I had a girl ask me if they were my nails or if they were nails that I pasted on. And that's exactly what is looks like because the polish is almost covering my finger. When these grow out a little more the cuticle part is going to look horrible. I came here on 07/2/19 (my first time here)around 8 to get a pedicure, I waited about 25 mins for service, I brought my own sandals and everything, An hour after I did the pedicure, I decided to put my sneakers back on, When i take them off again, my right foot's big toe is completely scrunched up like a blanket, I was so sad. I have plans after work on 07/03/19, So therefore, I went on my lunch break where I had 30 minutes (from when I got there) My plan was to go, they fix the mistake, I allow it to dry until I have to go back to work and they can wrap it! Easy Fix, I was not upset. It was 12:55 pm, I get to the salon, I let the lady know sitting on the left chair facing in what happened, I let her know I am only on break and I ask how long it will be? She tells me, ok, get ur color, sit down, there almost done. I do exactly that, I would think they would show sympathy and act as if my time is also important, Once she finished her customer, She started snacking, talking to other customers, looking at paperwork. I approached her, very politely saying excuse me, I have been waiting 25 minutes now, I came just to fix my big toe. Her response was "I am not skipping everyone for you" Which was completley rude on its own. However, I replied with "I understand but I was already here, you already took my money, all I need is my big toe fixed, you told me "almost done" which give the impression of 5-10 min wait, not almost 30 minutes, had you been honest about your wait time, I would not have spent my entire break here, I would've left from the start, because u said they are almost done, I decided to wait, you need to be honest about the wait time. Which she proceeded to say," You should have just went to the person who did them then" (As if knew this was an option!Which would be skipping!!) I replied and told her "I didn't know I can do that, you did not give me an option" and she just shrugged, I proceeded to say all i needed her to do was be honest about the wait time so my time isnt wasted, She tells me I put on my shoes and messed it up to which i replied, I put my shoes on after over an hour, i have gotten penty of pedicures, it does not take an hr to dry, She says " Well, I dont know how many layers the lady put" Which i replied that that would not be my fault, As a customer, I paid my hardworking money for service that messed up after an hour and all i needed was for that one toe to be fixed, she tells me she will do it now, as soon as she sees me shes like where r ur sandals? Which I didnt have so shes starts saying well how are they supposed to dry, it's not going to dry , So i explained It is because I was under the impression that I can just have someone fix my one toe within 5-10 minutes (almost done) and that will leave me with 20-25 mins for drying and then she can wrap it, she replied saying no , now it's not enough time, come back later, like OBVIOUSLYYYYY now it isnt enough time, She was not empathetic, She was not kind, She did not make the situation better, Because of her I won't even dare attempt a different, more expensive service. I shouldn't have a second visit the very next day to begin with, yet I walked in with a perfectly good attitude, the lady who did my nails originally could have out 30 coats, she was still nicer! She ruined my mood completely. I paid my money, The reason I went during my break was because I have plans directly after work and I couldn't go back so for her to easily say "come back later" she really has no consideration for other people's times. Being that it was their error and a two minute fix, they should've been more than willing to fix this for me, instead they caused me even more of an inconvenience than I had to begin with, stuck here pissed off with my toe still messed up, looking like a blanket. I LOVE my nails!!! Jessie does acrylics mostly, if you don't need acrylics go to Coco. I LOVE her for my gel mani & my pedis. Now, the pedi, oh baby....$13 for a reg pedi, $25 for callus removal where they really go IN. This lady made my feet so freakin smooth I loved it. Great polish selection too. I don't need to hold conversations with my nail lady, that's why I have friends. Both of my techs were professional & didn't bother me with small talk which is MUCH appreciated. The gaudy rope lights framing the windows should be strongly reconsidered because they just don't mesh with the calm and pleasant interior. They carry the typically large collection of Essie and OPI polishes, including my new favorite Essie: Size Matters. :) The massaging pedicure chairs are super huge and luxurious and my nail tech was efficient and sweet. She razored my callouses, which I've heard they're not technichally supposed to do, but she made my sandal wrecked feet soft as a baby's bottoms, so I love her. NO NAIL ART DONE HERE!!!! I came here from the other side of Ditmars because I read in Time-out that this place does Nail-Art. When I walked in on a Monday 11am and no one gave me eye contact. I tried to explain I wanted Nail -Art done and they kept saying Yes Yes. I sat down for my pedicure the technician had gloves on -which I hate. But some people may enjoy. I have gotten my nails done here twice now and not sure if I will go back. I agree with many of the other reviewers and say that customer service definitely needs work! Having to stand in the entrance for 3 min before being acknowledged is a big no no. Different girls did my nails each time and on both occasions neither of them spoke more than 2 or 3 words to me. I don't really like small talk but at least a "hi, how are you?" Would be nice. My first visit was to get permanent French tips for the holidays and it was fine so I came back for the fill in. The girl just seemed very bored and uninterested. I had to ask her several times to fix something or to even trim my nails and I never got any nod or reply to let me know she heard me or was going to fix it. I've gotten my nails done many times and know the standard procedure for a fill in and either the nail technician was inexperienced or just didn't give a damn. In the end my nails are bumpy, uneven, and look like they need to be done over. I've come here twice to get a mani pedi. Each time I have to make appointment so make sure you do as you will have to wait over 20 minutes minimum. Their prices are very reasonable $35 for gel mani and regular pedi, I was shocked. The estheticians spend a good amount of time on nails which came out great. They also last over 2 weeks with no chips :) I do love coming here as it's close to my place and is very clean. They just opened over 2 months ago. Only thing is the wait, even when you make appt. so it looks like they are short on resources and also a bit disorganized. This has been my go to nail salon for a while. I haven't gone since the holidays and was looking forward to going after work last night. I should have made a reservation. I really didn't know. When i entered Dahlia's I did not ask how long the wait was because I only saw one person ahead of me in the full salon. I said hello and took the basket of gel colors and sat in the waiting area. I saw employees not doing anything and soon realized that every person coming in had an appointment that the employees were waiting for. After 40 minutes I asked how much longer and i was told another 20 minutes. No apologies, no empathy. While, it wasn't their fault that I didn't have an appointment. I'm upset with the lack of communication and the waste of my time. I should have asked how long, yes. They literally did not care about my business. I always tip very well so I know it wasn't personal.. they just didn't care or remember me or both. If you only take appointments tell the walk-ins! If the wait is an hour long and someone walks in - shouldn't you tell them? In the very least say hi and ask me what I am there for? warn me? value my business? Let me know they see me? Apparently not. This salon has a huge selection of colors. The color gel basket definitely needs some TLC because the nails are falling off the swatches and many colors are missing. My last visit here this past December the colors were all wrong and they couldn't find the one I wanted. The manicurist still did a beautiful job. I like it here because it's different. The employees are adorable and punky and they seem to like their jobs which is important. Sometimes it does feel like they are speaking about you as they communicate to each other in a different language; sometimes it feels clicky in there, and sometimes there are some very loud cell phone talkers that make for a less than relaxing experience. Personally, I can't stand when people get their nails done and blab on about their lives loudly while I'm trying to relax. I wish this wasn't allowed but I understand that you can't please everyone. If I come back here I will either make an appointment or come during a slower time. I am more likely to try H&K nails across the street. I went to them after foolishly waiting at Dahlia's. They were also packed but at least they acknowledge me and gave me a time estimate. I didn't have time to wait at this point. I went home feeling pretty sad and made an appointment for a salon near my job in the city for the next day. read more

$7 manicure at Dahlia Nails was a really nice treat for me. At around 5:30 pm, the place was pretty happening and every lady was occupied. That said, it was only a few minutes before someone got filing and soaking for me - this place is efficient! Its also bright and clean, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Mandarin), and definitely worth every cent. Extra points for the loyalty card. That said, the ladies here are all business and not very chatty. If you go to the nail salon to gossip, this isn't you're place. I also didn't get a shoulder massage. My polish started chipping 4 days later, but I didn't pick a high end polish and I lost in a battle with some bobby pins. Overall, I'd definitely come here again. read more

Pretty sure this salon uses MMA - an illegal polymer for acrylic nails. I say this because (1) all the liquids are in unmarked containers (2) When I went to soak off the set, IT TOOK 2 HOURS. EMA acrylics take 40 mins MAX. I have not returned here in over a year and never will. read more

Although the owner Jesse is wonderful. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for her staff, she was on vacation so I made an appointment with someone else named Snow (usually works in the first chair to the door). I first made an appointment for 4pm but followed up to see if I could move it later to 4:30. They assured me this would be alright and told me she had someone else at 5:30. I came in at 4:35 and she already had someone in the chair and had already applied a full set. She went on to look at me confused and rudely tell me I was late and someone else could take me. Mind you it was 5 minutes past the appointment time and there was no way she had started this other girls nails only 5 minutes earlier. Anyway I would've appreciated if she had been polite and owned up to her mistake or at least tried to accommodate and reschedule. My cousin took me here and we both got color gel manicure. The girl who did her manicure was very fast and good. My lady was pretty good too but her English is very poor. Besides, she did not even give me a shoulder massage like the other lady. It just seems a little inconsistent. I might come back if I live in Queens.
