I had an amazing Brazilian wax session with Joice! I had let too much time pass since my last wax and was nervous about the pain factor. "I love getting a Brazilian", said no one ever, but I do love that Grace makes the experience as painless as possible. I was a normal customer at Uni-K but the last two times were particularly bad, especially my final visit with an esthetician who was "new to waxing" and left me a bloody mess. A friend suggested I try Grace and after seeing such great reviews on Yelp, I wanted to give it one last try before going back to shaving. Grace's small waxing salon is on the third floor of an office building on the corner of 58th and Lex; there are two rooms - one for Grace and one for Savita. There is a really small waiting area that comfortably holds three and has small flat screen TV. It's easy to get an appointment - you can book online or call directly and you get a text confirmation of your appointment. I was really worried before my first appointment because I had gone awhile without a wax. Grace was really kind and distracted me with conversation while she did her thing. I believe Grace uses GiGi soft wax - the whole process took less than 30 minutes and she had to minimally tweeze because most of the hair was gone. That was January and I've been going to Grace on the reg ever since. The facilities are clean and adhere to extremely high hygiene standards. Grace and Sativa are really nice and always have a smile on their faces. If I ever move out of NYC I would fly back every six weeks to get my wax at Waxing by Grace! read more

Sadly a terrible experience even though Savita was polite and friendly. "Whoops I went too deep" is not something you want to hear during your experience. I had clearly stated what I wanted and she did not listen. I asked for a triangle, she left me with a rectangle, I asked for hair to be left on and that I didn't want it all off and she took off way too much on the top and also on the sides it is completely lopsided and after saying whoops said "do you want me to take it all off? I took too much and now there's not much left" no, I don't, that's exactly why I told you I didn't want that at the beginning, I didn't come here to be made to look like a child and to have someone make mistakes while providing this service. She had said at the beginning she would take off a little bit and then let me look and see if I want more, but she never did that. It is like going for a haircut and having them lop off way too much on one side and saying we'll do you want me to shave it all off since I cut off too much? Also, this was one of the most painful wax experiences I've had, possibly more painful than when I was left bleeding at uniwax. I came home from this experience ready to faint, whereas I haven't had any pain when I went to European wax center. I wonder if part of it is that she uses strips, whereas others like European use hard wax which I like better. Savita is very nice and polite otherwise but I will never be coming back and recommend you be careful before going to see them here. read more
