Not a fan of the co-op down the road this is the best place to get produce, eggs, meat and just about most things you can think of to fill your fridge and cupboard. The upstairs even has large freezers with ice cream and baked goods, and more meat. The people are very friendly and everything is quite affordable. I am so happy to be able to support my local farmer. They'll soon be starting a delivery service as well!

My husband was able to find whole oats here (called Jumbo Oats) which he couldn't find in any of the major grocery stores. The meat prices are extremely good especially for being so fresh and local, and the frozen meats are a super bargain! We bought some just-picked seasonal strawberries yesterday and they were amazingly delicious. We still need to get some things at a bigger store like some familiar national/international brands or particular varieties of groceries, but Radmore Farm Shop is definitely our new place to walk for fruit, veg, and meat. It's perfect for those "What are we going to have for dinner" afternoons because I can grab meat, onions, mushrooms, and whatever veg suits and cook something up fast. We are definite fans and plan to shop here routinely while we're in town.

The meat for sale is of the highest quality, most of which is sourced locally, yet surprisingly good value. I can particularly recommend the different varieties of home-made sausage on offer, the steak mince and stewing beef as well as the home cooked ham. They also have a selection of cheeses for sale as well as fresh free-range eggs and a small supply of basic groceries, such as spices, condiments and freshly pressed fruit juices. The butchers who work behind the counter are able to tell you exactly where each cut comes from as well as how best to prepare it! They are always willing to source a special piece for a dinner party, given a few days notice, as well as taking orders for Christmas roasts.

It's no ordinary shop though, you'll find locally-baked bread, ready meals, spices, rices, pulses and fresh local veg. They also have 'healing rooms' where various types of practitioners can give you therapies and alternative treatments. They also supply wholesale foods. They're not some new, trendy company, they've been slogging away since I was a kid in the seventies. Good luck to them and well done for surviving so long!

Their humous and breads are well worth a try. A bit pricier than the supermarket but worth it if you can afford it as the food is much tastier and you feel as though it might actually be doing you some good. One area contains rice and spices in sacks large enough to use as sandbags. Tinned and jarred delicacies from Europe, the Middle East and Asia make excellent additions to dinner parties, and unusual Christmas presents. The seabass ceviche was really excellent. The fish tasted super fresh and was mixed with crunchy lettuce and creamy avocado which made a great contrast of textures. The duck was beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. It came with some very tasty veg and spinach, and a veritable tower of potato. I didn't enjoy the potato tower as much as I could as it wasn't very creamy and had potato skins in it - not really my scene. Along with my meal I had a delicious bottle of red. I can't remember what it was but our waitress took the time to help us out with the wine list. The price was fairly reasonable and I was happy with the service - overall this is a great place and I'd recommend to Cambridge dwellers and visitors. One thing to note: the toilets are outside and then inside another building. Do not be alarmed if a staff member directs you to the toilet and all of a sudden you're in the street!

For the main course I had the fillet steak and came across one of the nicest steaks I've ever had. It took me by surprise to be honest i wasn't expecting it! The chips it came with were nothing special though. The only comment I would have is that I asked for it medium and it came way less than medium, wasn't complaining though I was very glad they did so! The whole meal came to £30-40 each including drinks which wasn't too bad at all considering we all had steak or fish. Overall I had a great time, the staff were friendly and efficient and if I could give it 4.5 I would. It falls shy of a 5 unfortunately though.
