The Oklahoman charges for an obituary is rediculously excessive. We placed an obituary with the Oklahoman and they charged $1,312.81; when we placed the exact same obituary in the Tyler Morning Telegraph the charged was $525.40. When I reached out saying I felt like there was an error with what they charged the explanation was: The cost of your obituary includes a variety of components. As you requested, here is a more detailed breakdown based on our system's and the newspaper's pricing metrics: $231.41 - Insertion fee $1082.40 - The obituary takes up 165 lines billed at 6.56 per line = $1,312.81 total cost for the obituary placement into the Oklahoman Ridiculous to take advantage of people at a time like this!!!!! read more

I called to cancel my deceased dad's digital subscription and gave them his phone number that was tied to his account. Later that day I discovered that they cancelled my husband's subscription instead. I called back and was told that they could not reverse their error. We would have to wait until my husband's paid up subscription expires and then will have to renew. Who knows what the new rate will be. AND, I also discovered that they had been charging my elderly father about twice the amount of the published rate. I have tried to call back and speak to a manager and was put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time. I have also reached out on Facebook and emailed contacts on their contact page, but no one has replied back. Terrible customer service! So disappointed. And, I agree, one star is too high. read more

Customer service is the worst. First lady told me I couldn't activate my subscription without a late fee for papers I never received. Next lady lied to me for 30 mins while pretending to activate my account and even said she charged my bank account. Third guy told me that I still don't have an active subscription and there's no proof I ever spoke to anyone before. Add on top poor delivery, no more Saturday service and razor thin news that shows extreme bias in reporting and you have a recipe for a Zero paper. I've been a subscriber for a painfully long time. I don't think there's been one month in which I have gotten the paper every day. There are many missed deliveries. The automated system dances around allowing you to speak to a live person. I've chosen to have the paper delivered the next day most of the time. Only once has that actually happened. I didn't realize that the option after "deliver the next day" is to credit the account. The problem with crediting the account, for me, is I pay automatically every month. So I never actually see the credit because I pay the same every month. A customer service rep has said, "we've extended your subscription." But here again, I never get the benefit of that because "I pay the same every month." The only reason I've endured their horrible delivery dynamic is because reading a daily paper in print media is the highlight of my 92-year-old mother's day. Because of dementia, the digital option isn't an option. So today I've decided to cancel the paper and just go to the store to pick up a paper IF the store gets their delivery. read more

I have been a customer of the Oklahoman for 40 yrs and I am done with them! Horrible and biased stories (always far left) from the Associated Press. Paper carriers are always changing and very difficult to get the paper delivered and I live in the metro. No customer service with the Oklahoman since it is always automated. I have been a subscriber for over 10 years. I am signed up to receive the Sunday and Wednesday paper. In the last year or so, I routinely do not receive my paper. If I am lucky enough to get it, it comes around 10:30 am and this is usually after I have called and waited around 10 minutes to speak to someone. I signed up for a 99 cent subscription to read an article online. When I got my receipt it said it was for $9.99. I called to cancel since I still wasn't able to read the article. I sat on hold for 45 minutes and then was told that it was cancelled. A week later my account was charged. I wanted a copy of a picture that was in the article and had been told to come to the office to pick it up. I went to the office and had to wait for over 30 minutes to find out anything and it all had to be done via email thru the security guard. They wouldn't even come out and talk to me. Don't subscribe to this paper unless you want only the digital version. They have had delivery issues constantly for the last six months. I got 1/2 the papers I was supposed to. If you call because your paper is late you have to call by 8am and even then you may not get a paper. If they credit your account it means they will add a paper to the end of your subscription but if you cancel the subscription you will have paid for that paper and will not get reimbursed. The paper complains people are going digital but the truth is that they are forcing you to. Every one of my neighbors has cancelled their subscription only because of delivery issues. Our subscription was running out and the Daily Oklahhoman wanted $450 for another year which is an insane price hike from $220 last year and the news content is about 1/16th of what it was when the Gaylord's owned it. We went online and they had a deal for an annual subscription of $220 for a year so we got that. Then we started receiving 2 newspapers a day. When we asked them to only deliver 1 paper a day they said we owed them $22 since we did not renew the old subscription (@ the $450 price). What??? read more
