After dinner and visiting a friend, we decided to grab a quick sweet treat from DQ! Sadly, the DQ in Fernley closed awhile back. I honestly think if they had a drive-thru, they probably could have stayed open for business. Of course, I had to get my favorite chocolate-dipped cone! DQ has the best! Tonight, the person taking our order was really pleasant and provided one of the better customer service experiences we've had here. We believe he was also the same person working the drive-thru. He was a young adult, possibly a high school or college student, and I believe his name may have been Lucas? I'm not 100% sure, but if that's correct, I definitely wanted to give him a shoutout for being friendly and pleasant! This is the best Dairy Queen I have been to in so long. The food is great. The service was great and it was perfectly timed after me. My sister and my niece got done at the Churchill County museum. If you ever have a long day and you need a good meal, definitely try out the ranch burger or some of the other delicious items on the menu . The ice cream is great, pretty hard to mess that up ya know. The service though is so bad it's actually shocking. I've never had a fast food worker speak to me like a child until i went here. I had a code i wanted to use for an 89¢ blizzard with another purchase, so I told the worker "can i please get a large oreo hot cocoa and a small oreo blizzard with no oreos." They proceeded to put it into the system as a small cup of soft serve, which doesn't go into the system the same way. And I know this because I USED TO WORK AT A DAIRY QUEEN. Keep in mind I had told her this AFTER telling her that I had a code which would need to be a small blizzard and another one. When I got to the window to pay, they tried to ring me in for $13, and when i told her that wasn't right and explained to her exactly what i wanted, she gave me a condescending smile and said "if you wanted to use your deal so bad, maybe you should've just come inside." I've worked in fast food for so many years and I genuinely cannot fathom speaking to a customer this way, it's ridiculous. This location specifically NEVER stirs more than the top inch of your blizzard. You pay 6 bucks for 3 bites of blizzard and a whole cup of plain vanilla ice cream. Do any adults work here?? We'd been driving over 8 hours and came here for dinner before stopping at the hotel. The person taking our order in the drive through was pleasant but didn't have much knowledge on the food.. "What's on the burger?" "Oh everything" "What kind of cheese?" "Yellow".... yellow?? I asked if it was American or cheddar and she repeated that it's yellow. So we finish placing our order and pull to the window, the guy is nice and gives us our drinks, takes payment, and then asks us to pull forward to wait for our food. 20 mins later he comes outside empty handed, walks up to our car, says "Um.. no." And then turns around and walks back inside! I had my mom with me and she went inside to find out what was going on, the woman behind the counter apologized and then ran out the front door leaving my mom wondering what the heck was going on. Finally the woman came back in but didn't even acknowledge her, just went back to taking orders. After 30 mins of this we got our food. The burgers that come with "everything" by the way were nothing but meat and pickles. I'm not sure if they messed up our order or lied about the burgers but this was not what I wanted to end our night on. And we didn't get the kids drinks. Oh, the ice cream was great though. Hard to mess that part up I imagine. We don't come through Fallon often, but we certainly won't be stopping at this DQ again. read more

Worst DQ we've ever been to. Drive thru made us wait AFTER giving us our Blizzards and by the time our screwed up order had arrived they were melting. Fries were cold as were the chicken strips ordered by my wife. I ordered a simple burger and they gave me a Flame Thrower...I don't like spicy food. Add to that these people expected a tip. Never eating at ANY DQ again and we've eaten at them from Washington State to South Dakota and Colorado. I almost forgot to mention that the "chocolate" chunks on my Brownie Batter Blizzard tasted like rum cake due to being fermented. So bad I had to write my first review. Well, Dairy Queen has definitely won me as a customer!! Specifically THIS Dairy Queen! Shaye is such a sweetheart!! They let us eat our meal in the dining area even though they were closing up. We really needed that break after a long time on the road. We were able to eat our room with plenty of space and time, without feeling rushed. We ordered chicken strip meals, a chicken sandwich, and a 1/3 lb burger. The chicken was really good! (I didn't get a chance to try the 1/3 pounder, but next time I will. Also some Blizzards came with the food.) The next time I come through the area, I'll absolutely come back! read more

I ordered a blizzard this afternoon & there was about 4 cars ahead of me~so I had a wait. When I get to the window and look at my blizzards, it's a hot mess! It is all melted & dripping off the sides of the cup, looks unappealing & its about 3/4 the size it usually is~and they want $4.34 for a mini blizzard :( When I ask what happened to my blizzard, they say it always looks like this. Just driving through Fallon and found A DQ for a quick bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised by our wonderful meal and the great service provided. With many people in the restaurant the food came in a timely manor and with great presentation, and good taste. Had their lunch special and for six dollars I got a chicken sandwich a side salad, a drink and a sundae.... filled me up and made me happy! Dairy Queen in Fallon... So much has changed since its days on Main Street when it used to be next door to JCPenney... Our visit today was for the first time in many many many many years... It was the kids' choice. By the time you get to the Dairy Queen, your fast food options pretty much diminish if you're headed south out of Fallon. We chose drive thru since we were on our way out of Greenwave Land. It was hard to understand the drive thru intercom, as I had to turn off the radio completely and half stick my head out of the window to hear what the lady on the other end was saying. She was cool and patient, though, as I tried to make sense of what my family wanted to order. We decided on a mushroom Swiss burger combo, bacon cheese burger combo with onion rings, Fresh Griller (?) combo, and a 2-piece chicken strips kids meal combo. Our drinks of choice were a lemonade, root beer, piña colada smoothie, and an Orange Julius. We ended up switching out the lemonade for a Sprite, because the lemonade was that crappy powered stuff and it just tasted nasty. The drive thru lady exchanged the drink with no problem, which I thought was really cool. We must've been super hungry, because we ate absolutely every bite. For fast food, our meals weren't greasy. Hubby's onion rings were über crispy and good. Bacon was cooked the whole way through. Fries were perfectly crisp and not over salted. Fry Sauce is all fancy now, in sealed containers. Complaints??? Drive thru was very slow. I had to turn my car off for a while, we were waiting so long. And we were the only ones in drive thru!!! And adding the Orange Julius to one of the combos upped the price by almost $2.00. For what it's worth, though, my family was fed well and our drive thru experience was better than what previous reviewers experienced. read more

Boy, my review will be different than the previous one. Dairy Queen is not a place we often stop, because now that I'm, um, 'older', I see that my much slowed metabolism just can't handle hundreds and hundreds of calories and carbs at a single sitting. BUT, once a year we stop here as we pass through Fallon on our way back from some adventure seeking RV trip through the Nevada outback. I always get a Blizzard of some kind. Blood sugar skyrockets for the day! Nevertheless, we stop anyway and are never disappointed. Blizzards are to die for (in my humble opinion anyway). In my life, I've never used a drive-up window. Never. Especially for ice cream. I figure if you're gonna eat this stuff, you NEED to walk in, just to burn off a few of the calories. Plus, since everyone ELSE seems to want to use the drive-up, that leaves us walk-ins top priority to get OUR stuff. I've seen cars in drive-up lines (everywhere - Mickey D's, Starbucks, etc.) still in line after I've walked in, got my stuff, and walked out. So, no drive-up windows for ME. It took no time for the girl at the counter to get our Blizzards, and of course, she demo'd the fact that she could turn them upside down and they "defied gravity". Ha. We like Dairy Queen for that once in a year splurge, and this one fits the bill. Can't say anything about their 'food' menu, but then, when I think of burgers or such, Dairy Queen just doesn't pop up on the radar. read more

So, I hadn't eaten much all day. I had promised my son ice cream. I figured I'd go here and get some. Worst mistake ever. I paid 20 for moldy rotten food. My whole order was messed up. The hamburger I ordered, which the woman couldn't understand, I said no tomatoes yes on lettuce. I'm allergic to tomatoes. THere were tomatoes. And a soggy bun. And a moldy bun. I could smell it. No I could not eat afterwards. Which you know, ruined my blood sugar, which was already screwed up from not eating. That parts not their fault though. My son's ice cream was...Not pleasant. I asked for a cup of strawberry ice cream with a cone on top. They said they only had a blizzard which is okay. After they had me pulled off to the side and wait twenty minutes, they gave me the crappy food. I sat there trying to ask where my desserts were and the lady had no idea what I was talking about. I pulled out the receipt I indeed bought two. She gave me the 'oh, sh!t' expression before rushing off. She gave me the messed up order. A cup with a cone in it. Ice cream in another cup. My son had to dump the ice cream in the cup since there was absolutely no room in the other. That was as messy as it sounds. In the car. It got everywhere. We stopped in this evening for a a couple of icecream cones. We were told they had no dipping sauce. We ordered something else and when we drove up the the window they had already made the order. I took over 5 minutes to even open the window to take our money then another 7 minute to process the order and hand us our order. Our icecream was partially melted. Who doesn't love dairy queen!! The store is big and I noticed it has a inside playground for kids which is pretty cool in my opinion. I didn't go inside so I can't comment about the inside but the outside menu was clean. The customer service was good and the food was good too. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is the long wait! I was the 1st of 3 people in line and after I paid I was told to pull over to the side and wait, so I did. Drove up for the day from Hawthorne, and stopped in for a bathroom break and an ice cream, since it was a hot day. I waited for between 5 and 10 minutes while the one crew member was taking orders for drive-through. Normally I'm very patient with a place when drive-through is busy, but this girl was consistently shooting me dirty looks. And when the Manager finally showed up she looked at me, turned around and disappeared into the back. The next time I saw her she was running around with a thermometer, and her temp sheet. The entire time I was there, neither of the two people I saw said a word to me, no greeting nothing about the lobby not being open yet. Nothing!!! I use to eat at the Fallon, NV DQ at least once a week with my wife. It's been about three weeks since I last ate here because they burned the CRAP out of our onion rings last time. My family and I eat there often, but the service has gone down hill every time. This last time we went there I wanted to order the shrimp platter and after I ordered it I was informed that it was discontinued. Shouldn't they take it off the menu if it isn't offered anymore? There were what looked like 10 people working there, which I feel is a lot of people, but the service was really slow. Good food. Ate here for lunch after a long day driving through the desolation that is central Nevada! Fallon is a nice little town before that truck stop called Reno, and this DQ is a good place to stop. $5 buck lunches were ready quickly and were tasty. The play area for the kids was a nice break for all of us after being cooped up in the car all day. Nice place to stop for a treat and to stretch your legs. read more
