This is a fairly busy DQ, so I started visiting a few weeks ago. the treats are very good. the staff are very friendly. I have had a few blizzards and shakes. Love them I recently got a couple or regular cheese burgers. I didn't ask to hold mustard and ketchup..big mistake. The Chef drowned the poor little burgers in them..it was sad. I'll try again soon and update.. I did stop by the next day and picked up some biscuits with eggs and cheese..that I have a photo of..excellent quality. On par with any made anywhere. Everytime I come here the drive thru takes over 20 minutes just to get to the window. It's insane.

I have ate as this location many times over the years, the good and the service has always been consistent. I don't think I've ever had a problem with my food or an order. Recently I discovered that they serve breakfast, and I ask myself how have I not discovered this sooner??? The breakfast is now my favorite meal here. The homemade not frozen biscuits are delicious!!! My go to is bacon and egg, the bacon is always cooked just right ( crisp but not burnt). The sausage and egg biscuit is tasty as well. The breakfast plate is more than I can eat in one sitting, but also delicious. There biscuits are definitely in my top 3 in the Oakwood Flowery Branch area. The location and access is is the only negative thing as it's not on the main road so you have to go out of your way to eat here. read more

I don't know what the negative reviews are all about but I had a wonderful experience tonight. The food was excellent and the staff were quite sweet, if not a little tired due to it being 9:30. I used to come here with my mother when I was a child and lived in the area and it's nice to not only see this place still running, but just as good as it was many many years ago! We decided to give the Dairy Queen on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood another try and I'm sorry to say that they didn't disappoint to disappoint again!!! My original order was medium cup of chocolate with sprinkles, but unfortunately this store, which prime product is ice cream, was out of chocolate. So changed to vanilla. The picture below is what I got. Looks just like the small I ordered a couple of weeks ago. My husband ordered his usual banana split, but they were out of bananas. So he ordered a large strawberry sundae. The pic below is what he ended up with. Looks like same size as my "medium". Also no whipped cream. I guess since this is the only ice cream establishment within a 10 mike radius they figure they can phone it in rather than give their customers the classic Dairy Queen experience. Worst DQ I've ever been too. Asked if I could get a banana split in a large cup and they said they didn't know how to charge for that. Then the manager grabbed the mic and told me they couldn't do that. I just said charge for a regular banana split.. Got to the window and asked for the manager and he said they couldn't make that but they could put it all in a cup and make a blizzard?????????????????? He told me at least 12 times he was the manager and what he said goes. He got mad and slammed the window and did a refund and threw my order in the trash. Food was good, but the place is nasty. I regret we walked inside. Had to wipe a table to eat. Y'all might want to walk in your bathroom and read your promise to your patrons. Get someone from behind the counter to get out there keeping tables and the floor cleaned up. We definitely won't come back to this one. Terrible! The only thing nice I can say is the lady at the drive up window was friendly. I decided to give it a shot & wanted some onion rings. Worst lunch, had to throw away. The burger was old / overdone and the onion rings were so hard I couldn't bite them. Oh. This place. Lots of good memories here from back in the day. Although this place doesn't have the greatest location, it's pretty popular since the college is nearby. I guess since it's located at the perimeter edge of a pretty dead complex, the location doesn't give it much appeal. Overall a pretty okay place for ice cream and other sweet treats. Service is adequate. Parking is plentiful because the location is in a large and empty complex. The actual restaurant isn't large, but there's both an indoor and outdoor area. read more

This past Friday, I visited the Dairy Queen in Oakwood. After the employee Angel Olvera advised me they wouldn't honor by birthday coupon, the manager told me to "go to the library and print if off, if you want it" because I didn't have a paper copy (it's 2018...) so, we walked out to the car and he started laughing about how he told us no. So, I called corporate. I asked for his name and he refused to give it to us at first but once we told him I was on the phone, he finally gave it to us. Then he proceeded to FOLLOW ME OUT TO MY CAR AND ARGUE WITH ME. It was all recorded on the phone. The owner was supposed to reach out to me and he did. This is his response: Tiffany; I am sorry you had problems at the DQ in Oakwood. I talked to the man you interacted with, both that night and the next night also. I explained that he should always be polite, no matter what. He is an extra nice guy and I don't know how the two of you had trouble. I did talk to him at length about being caring towards customer's concerns. I also warned him how dangerous is to go out to someone's car. I am sorry we do not have a scanner to use on your telephone, but there are several great DQ's around close. The DQ's in Gainesville and the DQ in Cumming do not have scanners, but the one in Braselton or Buford may be able scan your phone. Again I am very sorry you were greatly disappointed in your visit to our DQ. Thanks THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! This place is incredibly slow, I ordered a blizzard but had to wait 20 mins because the car in front of me food took forever to cook. Their system doesn't work. Instead of everyone waiting they need to have a car pull up and wait for the food to better service everyone else. read more

Update. I lied. We went back last night to do the drive thru and get a couple of cones. 8 cars in line in front of us. The line moved about every 5 minutes and clearly the staff had no idea how to take an order and get people to park to be out of the way. By the time we go to the spot we could pull out of line and leave, we did. (It easily would have taken a half an hour to get to the window.) We zipped down the road to McDonald's; one car in front of us, ordered our cones and an empty one for our pooch, paid, and were on our way. As we passed DQ to go home we saw the truck that was in front of us not even at the window yet! Forget this place. They need a real overhaul! My wife and I decided to stop at this Dairy Queen tonight. We were going to go to the Dairy Queen near Green Street off of Highway 60 but we were in Oakwood so we stopped at this location. I immediately recognized the manager because I had had an altercation with him when he managed the store over by 60. This guy is a real jerk. The store was filthy just like the location at Highway 60 used to be when he managed that store. This guy is short, he has a nasty attitude, and a really smart mouth. If I weren't a Christian, I would've punched him right in the mouth. I cannot possibly understand how this jerk still has a job as a manager. The owner of this location should fire this guy immediately and get somebody professional in there to replace him. We will never go back to this Dairy Queen again. It's filthy, the employees have horrible attitudes, and that manager is the biggest jerk I have ever seen in my life to manage a restaurant. read more

I went to this location with family after dinner because they had a buy one get one $0.99 deal. We ordered 6 blizzards and at the end of ordering we asked if they could make a blizzard when we were about to leave so we could bring one home to someone. We sit down, wait a few minutes, and they bring out ALL the blizzards we ordered... even the one we asked for them to make later. The worker handed me the blizzard that was supposed to be made later instead of the one I asked for. It didn't taste like what i ordered so I had one other person try it to confirm. We took it back up to the counter and said it was the wrong drink so they took it and gave me what I ordered. About to leave, we go back up to the counter to ask for the last blizzard and they tried to give us the SAME blizzard 2 people already ate out of!!! On top of that the blizzards were so melted!
