If you need new stuff for your home kitchen, small cafe business, or full-fledged restaurant, MK…read moreKitchen should be one of your first stops for supplies! This kitchen superstore sells all kinds of tools and equipment from the smallest, most specialized eating fork to big industrial kitchen appliances! It's a warehouse/surplus shop style place too so everything's very much affordable and not weighed down by brand names. But the items are still of good quality! They import their products from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Italy, the US, among others. And like i said, they specialize in supplying for restaurants and even culinary schools, hotels, resorts... Basically any establishment with need for a kitchen. They offer after sales services too, as well as kitchen design consulting. It's really a one-stop shop for all your kitchen needs. They have several branches in the city already-- this one in Robinsons, one in the Farmers Market in Cubao, one in Pasig right across the URC offices, and one in Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong, which is their main warehouse. It's so cool to visit here because you always find interesting new things-- even small stuff you wanna have for your own house! Nice mixing bowls and chopping boards like those ones you saw on Food Network, that strainer thing you saw in some Japanese restaurant, those cool salt & pepper shakers you noticed at a cafe, that chafing dish you saw at an event's buffet... It's like StumbleUpon, kitchen world style! Haha. If you love cooking and baking at the very least, you're gonna have so much fun checking out this place!

My sister and her husband are in the final stages of building their house. It took years of saving,…read morelots of bickering and some headaches here and there before they got to this point. The 2 have very different tastes. My sisters wants the house to have a colonial look while her husband as my sister puts it, wants the house to look like an office. And because I was the 3rd adult in our tiny family, I had to intervene from time to time. They both agreed on one thing though: the bathrooms should be beautiful at all costs. So, one Sunday afternoon with my nieces in tow we went to the Dexterton Showroom in Quezon City. Here we found an impressive lineup of everything one needs to build a home. They have top brands and designers, fine designer, chandeliers, lighting fixtures and more. No need to go anywhere else when you're here. Tips: 1. Come here early and bring a camera! Take photos of the things that you like. 2. Try to bring a blueprint of your house just in case you need to give the attendant some specs.

Panicking, the man dragged me along to Alabang Town Center to help him find a gift for his lady love. We went from one store to another. He had absolutely no clue about the kind of gift that he wanted to give his girl. I advised him that the least he should do is give her something that she could use. We ended up at Gourdo's of all places. Gourdo's just sells a lot of stuff that's related to cooking and baking. We ended up getting here a cookie cutter. I forget the pattern, but a year or so later I can distinctly recall here giving us a batch of cookies cut out in the shape of the cookie cutter that we bought that day.

Basically, it will be a baker's heaven, with every ingredient, equipment, and packaging I could ever dream of for my kitchen, there for my taking. Unlike Kitchen Elf and Chocolate Lovers where I regularly (read: OFTEN) buy stuff, Gourdo's is more of a special occasion kind of thing. Why? Well, let's just say I need to save up for most of the products they offer. They have, for example, my dream Kitchenaid mixer (in mint or fuschia, please) for Php 27,000. They also sell a wide variety of Wilton products that are proven and tested when it comes to baking, but come at hefty price tags, too! If you're on a tight budget like me, I recommend that you visit Gourdo's during the holiday season (starting November). They're generous with sales toward the end of the year. Last year, I was able to score some Wilton frosting tips and a jigger/shaker at discounted prices!

In fact, I thought that he, being a member of his college football varsity team, had a bigger chance of becoming a member of the Azkals than becoming a chef and a professional baker of pastries and cakes at that. To show my support for his chosen career, I like to give him gifts that he could use at work. He's most happy when baking or making French macarons, so I gave him measuring spoons, cookie cutters, colorful cupcake liners, and other cake decorating products. All these things I bought from Cooks' Exchange in Glorietta. The store is small but it sells many interesting kitchen stuff. I love their cake candles and toppers. They even have colorful glasses and pitchers that are Moroccan-inspired. Actually, there are some items in the store that I want to buy for myself one of these days. My wishlist includes the garlic press, meat thermometer, and colorful chopsticks.

Although we were still students at that time, we were aware of what cooking equipment would cost. It's not cheap and most of the time, it would be expensive. But chefs know why these things are expensive. I always have a fun time in this store because my cousin would explain what a certain equipment would do. It's always a fun educational stop whenever we're here. I love also how this place doesn't only sell "serious" looking equipment, it also sells fun and colourful utensils for the kitchen! If I were more knowledgeable about the kitchen, I would definitely buy my kitchen stuff here. To chefs who are not aware of this place, do pass by this place and I'm pretty sure you will have loads of fun.

It's a huge store, so there's all sorts of stuff to look at and keep boredom at bay, like giant shiny jacuzzis and model kitchen units. Now that I'm older, recently my dad asked me to come with him to help shop for pipes and stuff for the extension we're building for our house. He's getting older too, and needs an assistant. So on my last visit, I was able to appreciate how completely stocked Wilcon is. Tiles, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, garden tools, locks, even pet supplies, it's all under one roof. It's the ultimate in convenience among hardware stores.

The more time you lose, the more money you spend. This is why it's important that you choose a hardware store that has everything in it. You don't want to run around and drive to so many places just because one doesn't have a specific pipe and vice versa. You're better off at settling in 1 store where you can keep your sanity intact and your gas tank right above low. So where is this hardware that promises to give these things? It's the Wilcon Depot at Filinvest City in Alabang. My brother-in-law swears by it, and believe me he is the most anal person when it comes to these things. I came here yesterday to help him buy locks and other things for his almost finished house and it took us a few minutes to find everything we need. I would have loved to walk around more because of the nice tile selection inside but we didn't have a lot of time. So, if you're building a home or perpetually fixing an old house (like me) AND you live in the South, come to this branch and make it your home base.
