Due to Covid restrictions, there are less activities being offered but I did not inquire about the iLab that is there. There is a "Calming Room" for autistic people, which is very inclusive and needed. I'm glad that the DCL includes this service.

Not the case with this library system. Their online system makes it so easy to get holds transferred from other libraries in the county. They are quick and efficient and it's easy to find where your holds are. The library is clean, welcoming, and overall very quiet. They have Toddler Storytime days and Storytime for 3-5 year olds. I used to love taking my toddler there and she had a great time. They sing songs, read books and have a play time after with the library toys. There is also a small sized selection of kids puzzles, a dollhouse, some magnet walls and magnetic tiles. There are also 4 small computers for kids 5+. Computers are also available for adults in a different section near the entrance. Overall it's not the biggest library, but it's beautiful, clean, renovated, and friendly! I love it and I'm glad to have it around.

This is my local library! There are several good places to sit and read or work, and a selection of…read morerooms for groups or individuals. A big open kids section, an iLab, and a sensory room (with tools for people with autism or sensory processing issues to regulate), and a fireplace in the back got added with the renovations that happened a year or two ago. The only thing I'd improve is they don't have many places for book displays, and some of the displays are hidden. The featured teen books are just on a small rotating book stand and some featured non-fiction books are on a wall that's kind of hidden. The best displays are the children's books and Librarians choice books, which are right up front in an open are. Sometimes there's also a table with a book display by the entrance next to all the new books, which is changed regularly, so that's nice. I just wish the book displays particularly for the teen and nonfiction sections were more visible and inviting.

Love this little library more and more each time I go there…read more For one, the first trip I took, I made friends with one of the librarians there (Matt), who helped get me signed up for a library card and explain all the services I could get through the library. Matt always recognizes me (and/or my husband) and will go out of his way to say hi. It's really so sweet. Further, I love the selection available here. Especially of LGBTQ+ books. I anticipate this will be a great boon during the winter months when I end up holed up devouring books for entertainment. I was super happy when I saw the kiosk they created for Pride Month (June) to showcase a number of their books available. I also appreciated seeing menstrual products available for free in the men's restroom. The kids area is super duper cute, with lots of painted murals and such. In the back, there's a large table to work on jigsaw puzzles. They have some books available for purchase books at very affordable prices too towards the front. You can rent DVDs/blurays too. And there are computers you can use. They do occasional classes or events/activities. The library is clean and cozy in good condition. I wouldn't mind spending an extended time there. The checkout process is really simple/easy-to-use and highly automated. So glad this library exists near me!

I'm just starting to experience all the many services Libraries currently offer (beyond book…read morelending). I attended a training class for 3D printing. The instructor, Matt, was very knowledgeable and helpful. In class, we used a modeling software package to make a design. Matt is going to look at our designs and make adjustments and suggestions prior to printing. You can reserve a 3D printer for up to 4 hours. I can't wait to print my design. I'm looking to create some custom earrings. I also attended a Fix-it-Clinic. It was packed! I didn't have time to wait for suggestions on the repair of a speaker but I hope to attend the next clinic or check out another library. Lots of people getting sewing repairs, lamps, appliances, etc repaired by many knowledgeable repairers. Libraries offer so many free services. It's worth applying to their newsletters and checking out a future event.

The library is always super clean and well organized with an extremely friendly staff. The library has a couple of rooms that are always hosting different events and hands on activities. There is something available for all ages which I really appreciate whether that is books, audio books, dvds, video game rental, computer usage or community resources. I am grateful to have this amazing community facility in town and hopefully everyone will do their part to keep it that way. Did I mention yet that the staff is really friendly and helpful ;)

Such a nice little library--I often do not have anything to do to kill a lunch hour over in the…read morehood so I stroll into the library and soak up some sunshine over by the big wall of windows while browsing unusual magazine that I would not normally know about and some that I already love but now do not have to purchase at the grocery store. If I see something interesting like a recipe or product I can quickly snap a picture on my phone too so no longer do you have to sneak and tear out the pages of a magazine that is not yours. They have a very large selection of current movies and books on display. I also noticed that they have such a wonderful area for little ones to crawl, climb, explore and learn the love of books. The library is absolutely fabulous and FREE!!!!!

Attended a college basketball game here. It was extremely confusing finding here the gym even was…read moreas it's not labeled. turned into the wrong parking lots a few times trying to find it. The doors to get in were also confusing as I was cutting through the players crossing from the locker rooms. The gym itself is pretty small. The floor was extremely slippery as well. The players were sliding and falling all over the place. Not sure if the one person working the door was a staff or volunteer but they were extremely slow at getting people in. Waited a couple minutes for them to count out $15 in change (as it was $5 to get in). Also some people weren't aware it was cash only so that caused some hold up. Also once inside it doesn't have clear signage letting you know where the bathrooms are (upstairs).

First the good... I…read moreearned my bachelor's degree via a distance learning program that fit into my full-time work schedule. After moving to Minneapolis, and being temporarily unemployed, I started looking for a college that offered a paralegal program with a reputable program and flexible night classes. Inver Hills had it. The paralegal program is taught by practicing attorneys, public defenders, etc. I feel like I am getting real-life experience and these instructors know their stuff! The campus is conveniently located, easy to navigate and the people working there are helpful and easily accessible. Besides the flexible schedule and easy certificate requirements (for paralegal), they are CHEAP. But, you get what you pay for, which leads me to the critique... I've worked with many corporate and private attorneys in my career and none of them were deliberately vague, inconsistent or careless. If you are working in a law firm or a corporation an attorney knows they are the ones ultimately liable if something goes wrong as the result of their lack of instruction, in this college setting however, some instructors grade on a whim because it's only the student's grade that suffers. Some instructors thrive on "gotcha" teaching, casually mentioning something in class then later severely deducting points by saying, "I said so..." Sometimes it was said, sometimes it wasn't (I think they get confused as to what they say from one class to the next). And it doesn't matter if every student backs you up that a particular instruction was never given. Some instructors don't grade thoroughly or consistently. Half a class might have points deducted for using proper punctuation simply because the instructor personally doesn't like it, regardless of MLA or Strunk & White standards. Be prepared to find the other half of students had the same issue over-looked. I chose to go to school to learn and be INSTRUCTED and not to have instructors play mind games with me. Finally, be careful if you are using financial aid, they are extremely disorganized. I was using financial aid when I was informed I was going to be dropped because of a balance from the previous semester. Waiting 6+ months to tell me my financial aid for that year had run out is beyond ridiculous. Telling me 2 days into the next semester? How can you take an institution seriously? Then I was told because I qualified for financial aid for the current year I could use the refund amount to pay off the previous semester and that I wouldn't be dropped from classes. By the end of the week, guess what happened? Yup, dropped. I also wasn't notified of that, I had to figure it out on my own. But they did give me a 12-hour window to pay the balance and get re-enrolled. So generous. I can't decide if I want to re-enroll or if I've been jerked around enough by this school and finish this certificate elsewhere. Ugh...they're just so CHEAP.
