Culver lake girl here. Summer always means chicken from dales. The bbq and Parmesan garlic ones are the best, my husband loves the regular fried chicken. Prices can be steep but I am not using this place to go grocery shopping, just for a summer staple of one of my favorite meals growing up visiting the lake! read more

Dale's is our go to market when I'm in town at my husbands family's lake house. Whether it's chips, drinks, deli meats and cheeses, stuff to bbq or just a morning trip for coffee and a Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich. Good selection of quality meats and a decent assortment of product. There's also an aisle with pantry and personal items. I recommend getting their pre-made hot food as well, crispy fried chicken, cheesy and creamy Mac and Cheese and great potato wedges (these sell out fast). Typically has been our go-to place on the way to our campground in PA. Always stop in to pickup sandwiches to go, and they're great. Adults and kids always look forward to digging in to eat! We always order there in person. This was the first time they messed up our entire order (that we called in ahead of time). Things that were supposed to have lettuce/tomato didn't - some that should have had lettuce only didn't, etc. May be worthwhile to have some that speaks more clearly take phone orders. Anyway, based on past experience we will be back again, BUT won't be ordering ahead. read more

Love Dales, EXCEPT when I order a breakfast sandwich. I've seriously had it with their nomenclature corrections. The older staff feel the need to correct my order of pork roll to Taylor ham EVERY time. It's SO annoying. No, I'm not kidding & not trying to start a verses war. Ordered a sandwich on Monday am & the tall thin gray haired lady kept repeating back. So you want "Taylor ham, egg & cheese". Even the other customer standing next to me was rolling his eyes. I drive by the Branchville location several times a week, and I am always wanting to stop in. I would rather support local small businesses. But, I finally stopped today and the prices are absolutely ridiculous. I will never stop here again. A pack of taco seasoning that is $.95 in other stores is $2.75 here. I stopped for lettuce and just paid $6.99 for a head of lettuce. That is unheard of in my world. I don't even think it's organic. The store is clean. The employees were friendly. More of a selection than your average convenience store, but the prices are unreasonable. read more

Been going there for over 20 years, customer service is getting worse as time goes on. I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes on a saturday morning with 3 employees right on the other side of the counter. No one of them acknowledged me, not one said "I will be right with you", nothing. Now I know why the place down the street was packed full and Dales had 4 cars in the lot. read more

The only game in town. They have a decent selection of groceries for such a tiny place. Their deli is awful... Greasy, bland, gross. The store is dirty and in desperate need of a renovation. Still, the staff is polite, the produce are fresh, and they usually have the staple items that you need. read more

Sorry to say this but Dale's sent me to the hospital with an intestinal infection that required antibiotics. A month has gone by and still feeling the effects. Roast beef on a hoagie with lettuce tomato mayo nearly killed me. This was a rare event for me to get a sandwich on the go. I fear that safe food handling was not practiced here and the cause of my visit to the emergency room. read more

A group of friends and I come to the NW corner of New Jersey every year for the NJ Audubon World Series of Birding. Dale's is a MUST, every time we bird Culver's Lake. On top of being a great place to replenish our supplies/rations their fried chicken and chicken rings are rejuvenating. Very very flavorful and just what you need on a chilly wet day, or just in any tired day period. I imagine it would be a great hangover cure. So much love Dale's keep frying! read more

I've been here a few times, the store was dirty with flies all over the place. I went to the deli to order a sandwich anyway cause I was hungry. As I approached the deli, the 4 people behind the deli ran to the back and hid from me so they wouldn't have to work. When I called out to them for help they ignored me. Won't return here ever again and highly suggest no one go to this garbage dump. read more

My absolute favorite market to grab local produce and/or try out their lunch specials. Each lunch special has been awesome (quality, flavor, you name it):a few favs: chicken quesadilla (not greasy at all) served with sour cream and salsa (only thing missing was guacamole). Chicken in a garden (breaded chicken, mozz, roasted red pepper...not sure if there was sauce on here but it was so flavorful it didn't need it!), buffalo chicken wrap (the grilled chicken's got it going on). Tried the parmesan peppercorn chicken in a wrap, holy chicken...it's AWESOME. Turkey wraps always turn out sweet too. Lunch specials are $6.99 and usually come with fresh fruit or french fries. The staff here is SO very friendly and accommodating, I highly recommend this spot to everyone. It's so nice to have a local go-to spot with excellent service and delicious food. We've been doing to the market for YEARS, literally years, when it was still the K&S in Blairstown, and we normally get the taylor ham or sausage sandwiches with egg and cheese, but yesterday, 4/21/17 was the WORST sandwich EVER in the Branchville location. There was a new worker in there, and they didn't know how to make a sandwich, there was nothing on the sandwich, all bread, no substance. We expect more out of an establish where we frequent probably twice a week. read more

Good for grab-n-go items, sandwiches are good and the people are friendly. Shelf items are pricey, but, this is not a supermarket. I tried the wings today because they always looked and smelled good. Not going to have them again. The skin was really rubbery, like they weren't even fried. I will continue stopping here only when absolutely necessary because of the convenience. read more

This place has been a staple in the community for years. I'm sure it's good for the residents in the area to grab some groceries quick and people go crazy over the fried chicken. However, it appears to be run by staff aged 23 and under. There's a layer of grime throughout. Picked up two sandwiches today. The girl waiting on me had hair down to her waist and it was flying everywhere as she prepared food. The rolls just sit out uncovered by the deli and I watched another deli worker sneeze several times into her elbow but right next to food. I wrote down my order and had two basic sandwiches, but felt like I was landing the space shuttle with all the questions/clarification the worker required. Not sure how I could have made things more clear. No one working there was friendly. Moral of the story: If you're heading up to PA, keep going and go to Frettas or Carinis in Milford if you want sandwiches. Fresh food and much better customer service and cleanliness. read more

Dales is always amazing. The fried chicken is the best I've ever had, we get it whenever we are in the neighborhood. They have everything you need from milk, vegetables, cheese, baked goods and a wonderful deli with delicious salads, hot food & cold cuts. They even have lottery tickets! I simply do not understand why the deli has to take a half hour to do anything. I went in to grab a quick sandwich, a 6 inch BLT with cheese. I kid you not, the girl took my order, cut the bread in half as if to start and then proceeded to stare at the growing group of customers for 5 minutes. She then went to the back, where she stood in the doorway and talked to a coworker for another five minutes. I decided at this point that I'd go pick my drink out. So I go to the back aisle to pick from a suddenly very limited section. All the previous times I'd been there, there was always a decent drink selection, but now it seems no one is actually stocking anything? After taking my time and looking at all the coolers in the store, I return to the counter to find that SHE HASN'T EVEN SLICED THE LETTUCE OR PUT THE BACON ON. At this point I promised never to waste my time here again. And the sandwich wasn't worth the wait at all. She forgot to put cheese on, sliced an already too small sandwich in half, and there was a hair halfway through. On top of that, the tomatoes were very clearly old and beyond mushy, and the bacon was all clumped to one half of the sandwich. So no, I am NEVER going back. read more
