My once beloved Fiat 500X was due for inspection in 4 weeks. The check engine light had been on for months and the dealer stated it wouldn't hurt to drive it- they never told me the car wouldn't pass NC State inspection because of it. Ar'd that 4 wk point all of the dashboard system software lit up a panoply of impressive error messages and refused to start. Dealer across state line in VA wanted car towed there but didn't promise much. After this dealer charged me $2,000 to try to diagnose why the AC/backup camera stopped working only to say it would take an estimate of another $5,000 for some wire harness I decided NO. Salvage co in Greensboro offered me 8 cents per # ($200 total) if I towed it to them. So, the future looked bleak UNTIL Mr. Travis Gentry (the aforementioned ANGEL in disguise) came to my house, I briefly told him history and instead of towing it to a local dealer who offered me $500 on a trade in Mr. Gentry offered to take it to his workshop and run some tests. He was able to get the car running, properly diagnose what was wrong, and give a fair repair estimate. I CANNOT say enough good about this angel sent to me ONE day before the registration expired.
