Five Star Evening
Having helped my daughter move into a new flat only 100 yards away, and being unfamiliar with Lebanese food, we thought that we would give this restaurant a try. From the moment we arrived we were very well looked after, nothing was too much trouble for our waiter, who later turned out to be the owner.
We had, between three of us, a mixture of hot and cold mezze which were all different and delicately flavoured. There is a limited choice of basic ingredient in the main course: fish, seafood, chicken, lamb or vegetarian but each is cooked in different ways. We tried roast lamb, grilled marinated chicken and king prawns and were all delighted.
The sweets were again a new experience: rose flavoured ice cream, a Lebanese desert with pistachio and a form of semolina/cheese/honey pudding which sounds weird but was in fact delicious.
Others have commented on it but the wine, the Lebanese Château Khoury Cuvée Sainte Thérèse 2008, was the star of the evening, one of the best wines I have tasted. The Owner claims that you can only get it in London either here or at the Ritz. If that's true he has got a terrific asset that, together with the whole experience, means that we shall return. read more
