Unfortunately, my experiences with other dermatologists have often left me feeling rushed through appointments, encouraged to purchase expensive products I didn't really need, or even advised to consider unnecessary cosmetic procedures when what I actually needed was straightforward, quality dermatological care. Too often, it can feel like the focus is on selling products or procedures rather than simply addressing the patient's actual needs. Dr. McDonough is completely different. He doesn't push unnecessary treatments or cosmetic procedures. Instead, he gets right to the point, listens to your concerns, and recommends exactly what you need. If an affordable over-the-counter option will work just as well, he'll tell you that, too. I truly appreciate that kind of honesty. His demeanor is friendly, caring, and professional, while also being incredibly informative. He has a genuine, sincere concern for his patients and makes you feel completely at ease. It had been approximately a year and a month on this day. I think it's bad for patients, and bad for business that they would refuse me my results especially when my diagnosis was relayed via the phone and the diagnosis was not going to change since I hadn't been treated due to Illness and taking care of sick and dying family members. They could improve greatly by being more compassionate about serving their patients and changing their policy if that is actually a policy with their office.

My sister had developed some brown spots on her back, along with a small skin lesion on the side of her nose and a larger wort type growth on her forearm. She hates going to doctors, especially for every little thing. Our sister who has assisted her with care since she lost her husband 4 yrs ago, said she was concerned about some of the areas and we should really get them looked at soon. Her nurse practitioner recommended she go to a dermatologist because some looked concerning. I tried to get an appointment for her but had very little luck since the few dermatologists in the area were not able to see her for 4-6 months. A relative recommended Rash Decisions and Dr. Marchand. She drives from her Dallas office to her Beaumont office a couple of days a month. Her website gave me a clear list of services up front, including the cost for a full body skin cancer check, which was what she needed. I was lucky enough to get an appointment for her the following weekend, when the Doctor happened to be in town. My sister has a very low tolerance for pain, but Dr. Marchand was very understanding and gentle. I feel like she took her time and was not rushed and fully explained every concern we had. She reassured us that the moles and brown spots were normal part of aging for some people. She removed the two areas her doctor's office was concerned about. They were sent to pathology to be checked further (with her insurance covering that part). My sister said she felt like she was in good hands the whole time and we were glad she didn't have to wait 4 or more months to be seen. However when I arrived at 115, not only was I not on the list, but I was not permitted to go upstairs and purchase the expensive item I needed AND the office staff was IN THE OFFICE. UPDATE! I received a phone call from Dr. Marchand's office very apologetic for the mixup. I received erroneous information from someone on staff. The office made amends that greatly benefitted me and I am satisfied.

Still not seeming like it was healing right, we went to a different practice. He said it looked like a keloid and treated it, did not change, so he sent us to a plastic surgeon. He treated it to soften it for surgery for year. When he was able to finally do the surgery, he asked how many stitches the original derm (mindful) used to close the incision. They didn't use any. He said it looked as if some of the glue they used got into the incision and that is why it formed the keloid. I was so mad! Not only did we tell them it did not look right, but they obviously did not do a good job since they got glue in the wound. I have never gone back obviously, And while I did go there at that time, I will say they over charge for all of their esthetics. I feel they are more about money than how than anything else.

Then I had to come back because the one doctor doesn't do any cutting and I had a weird colored mole. But wait, they didn't actually take that mole but cut another one I wasn't worried about that was in a place you couldn't stitch so I had an open sore for a couple weeks Worst of all, I was waiting to see what insurance would cover and exploring told the lady in person and over the phone a couple weeks later to call me once insurance was done and I'd pay it immediately. Instead I get a call from collections. Adding insult to injury, they will not stop emailing me no matter how many times I ask. Stay far far away from this crappy dermatology clinic.

Have been coming here for a few years and used to have a 5-star review up, but can't really…read morerecommend them at this point for a few reasons. 1) Poor communication and lack of continuity between visits. They don't seem to have a good system for documenting patient concerns or outcomes. I feel like I'm a first-time patient every time I come in, having to repeat myself about what's going on. They keep asking me "How is XYZ going?" where XYZ is some random, long-named condition that I've never heard of before, and they say 'well it's in your chart" and I say "you tell me that every time I come in but I don't know what it is" and they say "well it could have been this, or that, or this other thing." Seriously? 2) Everything they can possibly prescribe to treat things is expensive. Skin cream? $750. Foam? Another $350. 15 minutes with the doctor? $120. Copy of my medical records so I can review them more thoroughly? $25. Would be great to find a doctor willing to actually work with patients on finding reasonable treatment options. 3) Difficult to work with in general. When they recommended a particular blood test, I said, "Great, how much does it cost?" They had no way of answering my question. I asked if they could check with the billing coordinator, and still could not get an answer. It took many phone calls over 2 weeks to find out that they send blood samples out to a certain laboratory (which is out of network), and the end result is that the blood test would cost me 250% more at this office than if I got an order for a normal, in-network lab. Saved hundreds of dollars by simply asking my primary care doctor to call in the same blood test to another place. Maybe this office would do that too if I asked, but I doubt it given how difficult everything else is. 3) Seemingly minimal regard for patient needs. On my most recent visit, I brought a skin issue to their attention that is a new thing that started bothering me a few weeks ago. Their solution? Injections that will cost $30,000/year indefinitely, which they glibly said "will help me take care of the deductible on my HDHP." No other option, just that. I ask "how long do you think I need this for?" and they can't tell me, because it's a new treatment - under 1 year old - that doesn't have much data yet. I asked "So what were you guys doing before this $30K/year treatment? Can I have that instead?" "No, it's more risky. This is your only option." OK, great, so I can commit to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket for a brand new condition that has been bothering me for like a few weeks and has no alternative? All in all, it just doesn't feel like a friendly place to get treatment. There are plenty of other options on Yelp with a significant history of more satisfied patients.
