Kendal has so much knowledge and got me in for a facial that day!!! She explained everything she was doing and I just felt so relaxed and comfortable with her. I also was so happy with the results of the hydrafacial platinum. About 4 weeks later as part of my regimen I got a chemical peel. I just finished peeling and I am SO happy!! The products Kendal recommended were perfect as well. They have a large selection of some g medical grade skin products. Really weird place. They will send you 16 emails and text messages making sure that you confirm your appointment & They warn you about all these fees associated with being late. I show up to my first consultation and after 10 minutes I asked them if there's any update on when I will be seen( mind you I drove 45 minutes to make it to this appointment and I took time off work) she says yes Mara will be with you shortly. Waited another 15 minutes (so in total now waited 25 minutes for a 30 min consult) . And she STILL doesn't show up. At that point I left. They texted me minutes after saying Mara was ready- lol. I would strongly caution anyone considering this med spa. I prepaid for a service, but when I arrived for my scheduled appointment after driving 45 minutes, I was told they did not even have the medication needed to perform the treatment. What is most frustrating is that no one called or texted me beforehand to let me know, even though they clearly knew they couldn't provide the service. My time and travel were completely wasted. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to resolve the issue. I have called several times and even returned to the business in person to request a refund for a service that was never provided. Despite my repeated efforts, I have received no resolution and no refund. In my experience, the customer service has been extremely disappointing. I paid in advance for a service I never received, and the business has continued to hold my money without providing the treatment or resolving the issue. At this point, I feel as though my only option may be to pursue legal action or file a claim to recover my money. I cannot recommend doing business with a company that treats customers this way. Do not go here! This place caused real harm and has zero accountability. I paid $2,100 and left with a botched procedure that has yet to be fully corrected. A staff member, who I strongly suspect had little to no experience, administered tear trough filler after talking me into it. The results were immediately wrong. I asked for it to be dissolved right away. What followed was weeks of runaround. They had me return every two weeks, and with each visit their attitude worsened, especially once I declined their repeated pressure to purchase additional services. I came in wanting a small, natural result. They saw a revenue opportunity. After multiple attempts, they were unable to fully dissolve the filler. I am now seeking treatment from a licensed dermatologist to fix what they could not. The practice is run by someone with no medical credentials, not a physician, not a nurse practitioner, not an aesthetician with any verifiable expertise. The medical authority here appears to be a nurse who seemed undertrained for the procedures being performed. A medical spa performing injectables should be overseen by a licensed physician on site. This one is not. If something goes wrong, and it did for me, there is no qualified person there to fix it. Avoid this place. The consequences can be permanent. read more

This is the spa that my wife has a membership for, I sometimes tag along for a massage and it's always been a great experience! When you check in they always ask if you want refreshments, the front desk is friendly & courteous. The facility itself is upscale and clean, they play instrumental music in the background for a relaxing atmosphere. Well, I'm sorry to say that this place went downhill. I had a good technician for a couple of years, who recently decided to leave. She told me some complaints about working there, but I just figured it was regular employee pressures and she was venting. Recently, I learned their management is actually just as bad as my original technician was saying... but besides that, the new technician I was assigned was absolutely horrible. Her hands kept slipping during the treatment and she missed the spots she was supposed to be treating. She also seemed very nervous and seemed confused on how to use the equipment. And to top it off, they said she was the one that trains others! I didn't truly think it could get worse (perhaps, ending up with permanent damage from a treatment). When I shared this with their management, she pretended to be concerned, but then made up some excuse to write me an email that my "history demonstrates that I'm frequently late and/or disappointed" (??), so for that reason they would ignore the complaint. She also threatened to not give a credit if I didn't come in at the date/times that she specified to see another technician for evaluation, which I couldn't because of a personal situation that day and also my work schedule conflicts. When a manager jumps to a pushy kind of response like that, it tells me that this is something they are used to, which is a red flag. Yes, I've been a few mins late coming to some appts from work, and I've always called and notified my technician who was super nice. However, I've never complained about her, ever! She was the best, I always tipped her extra to make up for the late times, and I'm sad she left. Unfortunately they must have no one else who does well, and my recent experience was downright scary. They just closed their Highland Park location as well, so I sense other challenges. I'm sure Mara's will comment on this message based on the way Ms. Coward responded to me, but I will say, everything I shared above is true. I'd want to know what kind of people I'm giving my money to, how customer service oriented they are, and most important of all, how experienced the technician is who is treating your face and skin. On June 29th 2021, I went in for my 2nd laser hair removal session and sustained 1st and 2nd degree burns on my breasts, back, and misc places around my upper body. I also experienced dark patches on the outer parts of my arms that were treated. I have tried to handle this privately with no cooperation from the Spa. It's been almost a year and the Spa ignored my past attorneys, I have not heard a single word from the owner and I was recently contacted by the so called medical director who only wanted to text me then ghosted me. I would like to note they did infact give me a refund and offered me a session to have some magical serum applied to the burns set for roughly 10 days later (which showed their lack of urgency). There was no agreement that the refund was a settlement of any sort, especially since I did not know the full extent of my damages at that time. The full cost to of treatment plus the money I paid for appointments after it initially happened will total well over 14k. I also sent them a request April 7th for my medical records (which I have right to) as well as the type/model of lasers that were used on my skin during my treatments and of course I haven't heard from anyone. Per TDLR public records the Spa has not been licensed to perform laser hair removal services since 2019. So I don't even understand how they are allowed to do this to people and then act as if nothing ever happened. Note to Spa: I have screenshots, receipts, recordings, texts messages, medical records, emails and photos that support my review and I will happily post my sources and proof publicly if you feel like I said anything false about the incident and the events that happened thereafter in my review. I've been going here for years...even before the current owner,Mara, bought it. I've rolled with the changes even when providers or staff I really liked left. However, I have been very uncomfortable with some of the choices staff and management have made lately. The most recent is very shady. As I said...I have been going here for years, getting the same treatments from mostly the same providers. I have had a membership since day one. Last month I called to schedule and asked for my usual facial and my usual massage with my usual provider. No problem. Had the services, checked out and was told "you have credits to cover today". "Ok!" I want to again book my usual with the usuals. The front desk said "ok!" I went in to the spa and there were people I didn't recognize at the front desk. I said "I'm here for my signature facial " and they checked me in. Someone mentioned memberships would be changing. So at checkout, I asked. This is when they told me that my usual facial had been taken out of the services three months ago and my facials had changed to two credits. Instead of booking my usual, as requested...instead of mentioning any change...the front desk scheduled the new treatment with zero communication!! I am fine and understanding that things change. It's ok. But it is not okay for there to be zero communication and for the front desk to make decisions/interpretations on what is being scheduled. I'm no longer sure what my membership is, how much services are, what services have been retired...nothing. Unfortunately, the website is of no help as it is hard to navigate and oftentimes does not include the information detailing changes. I still have my membership and I still have appointments but I feel like moving forward the onus is on me to double check I'm being scheduled for what I requested and not what the front desk cares to book. All of that being said, I still love my providers! I'm just frustrated with the spa, especially since this isotherm first time they have done something sketchy since Mara took over. read more

I am extremely upset with the recent treatment I received patronizing this establishment. In the past five months, I've spent close to five thousand dollars in worth of services and membership fees. I have never missed a scheduled appointment although the scheduling team over booked and had to reschedule my treatment.  I had a scheduled appointment this week and unfortunately my elderly mother was rush in for emergency surgery. I texted the number the Spa team uses to communicate with asking to reschedule however, I didn't receive a response. Once my mother was stabilized, I noticed that I was charged $25 for not showing to my appointment. I contacted the spa to explain what happened and and asked if a "one time courtesy" would considering I had a medical emergency and have never missed an appointment.  Laura swiftly stated, No. I asked Laura to then remove my card from them database and she responded that she would have to cancel all my upcoming appointments. The upcoming appointments that she's cancelling are ALL for services I've prepaid for. So you're telling me that I can not retain my PREPAID services because I don't want my card on file?! There is nothing owed on my services. I then requested to have all my prepaid services refunded along with the remaining treatment services she won't allow me to utilize. Laura stated only the Spa manager could assist with that request. I asked if she could advise the Spa manager to contact me by end of business the following day via email. Laura stated that she would send an email however, she couldn't guarantee a response.  What's interesting about this entire experience is that, I was advised via a phone call I made to the sister location that one time exceptions ARE allowed and extended to clients in event of an emergency. It pains me to think that the motivation behind the Uptown location NOT wanting to extend a one time courtesy is motivated by other unethical reasons. Mara needs to take a very serious look at how policies and regulations are operated at her facilities.  Hear we are, days later, and I have close to two thousand dollars worth of services that I can't use nor has anyone contacted to resolve this issue. This is the most unprofessional and discriminatory experience I've personally experienced patronizing a business. I will use every resource available to me to resolve this issue. read more

My experience at Maras was terrific until "that day". The day my face was significantly burned by a laser technician.My sincere thanks to the Dr. who did follow up on me throughout my burn recovery. I was terrified; however, due to Covid I could wear a mask throughout most of my recovery. It was humiliating when I took the mask off. Until I had an emotional moment one day during a visit, no one ever even apologized. Not even an offer of a complimentary service. Only then did the Dr apologize, not the owner or technician that burned me. The Dr. provided me with product "samples only" to use while I healed. The rest of my skin looked great as the burns healed. The owner was cold and on the defensive of her machine and employee. Still never an apology. I figured her behavior was because she thought I would sue. It did cross my mind but I did not pursue a law suit .I just used the samples and other products with proven success on African American skin. Amazingly I healed with minor discoloration or physical scars, the emotional scars may take a bit longer. Laser hair removal is not permanent . I have been receiving this type of service for over 15 years in multiple states. I am not new to this. I never experienced more than a blister or temporary discomfort until "that day". I'm now looking for a new spa. I'm terrified to ever use this place again!!!Actually I scared to death of getting laser ever again!!!! read more

The best thing about Mara's is the staff - from scheduling the appointment to meeting Mara in person, the entire process is seamless. There's also a variety of services available at reasonable prices considering it's the latest technology for everything (facials, peels, venus, cool sculpting, etc.). They even have a CBD green tea facial, which is just straight up trendy. Another thing I really appreciated about Mara's is that the staff members are really helpful for letting you know what services are best for YOU. It's not gimmicky. I found this place on Yelp and went for facial last week. I booked Basic facial for 89$ + I had 20$ off from Yelp, While she were doing the facial she asked me if I want to upgrade the Faical.. I asked her how much it will be and she didn't know the pricing and told me she will ask at Front desk( which she only did it after she finished my facial). Ones I got out it was a big surprise on the price, t 270$ for a facial that was unprofessional and not worth it almost all. They didn't even cleaned my pores. Basically it was just a machine that supposed to open your pores and then she put a mask on it.
