Positives: comfy bed, own room, own TV in room, fairly comfortable detox…read more Negatives: Scaring away someone in the midst of detoxing who had zero desire of leaving the facility in the first place - that's a first for me. I had zero intention of leaving. Here's what I did wrong. I snuck in some comfort meds. Why? Because I am an addict. I have trust issues and a bad past with a detox facility. I felt like shit for doing it, and I never ended up using anything I had. I won't rationalize any further. I know it was wrong and I felt horrible. I was extremely ashamed when I was caught; balled my eyes out... the whole 9 yards. The next morning I wake up startled, to 3 women at the foot of my bed doing the "tough guy" act while in the midst of detox. I had zero intention of leaving. Eventually, I couldn't take it, and I said alright I'm out. Deuces. They didn't even try to talk me out of it. Who knows? Maybe my insurance ran out and that was the way to get me to go (just kidding..) PS - I've been to a 20-30 detoxes with zero intent of getting clean. This was my first where I was actually proud of myself for completing my detox (5 days in without wanting to leave). Moral of the story? Not everyone needs the tough guy act. Some people are so down and out they just need compassion and honesty. Not some bull$hit tough guy act telling me over and over that I'm going to die and my daughter will not have a mother. We can be real without being intimidating. We can have real conversations without adding the theatrics. I would have appreciated that.

I was in the home at the same time Audra was. She caused so much drama at the house and left us all on edge. Shortly after she moved out she was busted and arrested at a hotel fur drug charges and things she had put her kids thru. Audra had the nerve to write one of the other tenants and spread lies to her family--this lady now has over a year clean and is working a very Strong program! I hope one day Audra finds her way!! God loves us all even when we are unlovable!!

THIS IS WHATS KNOWN IN THE SOBER HOUSE COMMUNITY AS A "SICK HOUSE!" People are constantly in and out of this house. And the ones that remain are not nice at all. There is no sense of community or support at this house. There is constant drama. It came out that the majority of women there are drinking and covering it up for each other AND getting high on Kratom or Suboxone and of course, the owners wouldn't kick them out because then that would be the majority of the girls leaving and then the owners would lose their rent money to pay the mortgage therefore, they let these women get away with this behavior. There was a "gatekeeper" to get to the bathroom. And when I say that I mean, you pay $260 a week to NOT have access to the bathroom when you need it because it is in the house managers room so if I needed to use that bathroom and she was in her room then I had to go through her and about 65% of the time she either gave me attitude for using the bathroom I WAS ASSIGNED or I wasn't able to get in the bathroom period. The point came to where I finally had enough and chose to move out. I do NOT recommend this house to anyone! The house owners are nice enough people but they have no clue what's really going on in this house and there is not near enough accountability that is required or asked of from the women who live there. Therefore, the girls get away with being hateful and mean, talking behind your back, talking crap to your face or under their breath when your in the room, and peeing for each other so they could "pass drug tests." Again. It's a SICK HOUSE filled with even sicker women and the owners either do not care or turn a blind eye so they get their rent money. When you enter a sober house it's because you are trying to work your recovery and change your life and there's so many important things that one is trying to do and stay focused on and it's impossible to do in a house like this. I do NOT recommend!!!

ReNova changed my life! Here is my story:…read more 1. I tried AA, overall it was kinda cult like. I would not recommend it, especially if you are female. Women are constantly hit on, and NO person should have their boundaries compromised while trying to better themselves. More than half of the people that were in it with me have had multiple relapses, or they are no longer attending meetings. 2. In/Out-Patient: For starters, I know a lot of people that have gone to rehab, from family to friends of friends. Like with AA most of them have relapsed and have had multiple stays (40-60% relapse, 30% of people that go to rehab go again). I called a facility that offered out-patient (losing my job and spending 30-60 days away from my family were not options) and was yelled at with the person specifically stating that I "will not survive in real world if I do not do a 30-60 day detox". Umm..what? Why offer out-patient if you are only going to push in-patient and shame a stranger you have spoken to for less than five minutes?? I also believe that rehab facilities are more interested in making $$ based on research/what I have experienced. **I know there are some people that have experienced sobriety and sustained it with these programs, which I think is amazing and they should be proud of their accomplishment. However, stats clearly show that the traditional methods are not working for A LOT of people. 3. Third time was a charm with ReNova, and I am beyond grateful I have the ability to partake in the program! My first session with Mike was an assessment to see if the program would help me, and he was nothing but warm, inviting, and not judgmental in the slightest (nor has he ever been). There are two programs, one that is alcohol moderation and one is sobriety (I chose moderation). Mike works around your schedule, and while you do have to dedicate some time in the first part of the program, you're not putting your life on hold or making major sacrifices- i.e. you can attend sessions in the evening that won't put your job at risk, aren't spending a month or two away from your family/friends, and you bring your real life everyday stressors/triggers to your sessions and Mike gives you tools/coping mechanisms to work through those stressors so you don't resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms. After reading the book I was skeptical because it goes completely against what society says is the way to treat alcohol issues, but it is also why it works! You dive deep and address every contributing factor which is basically how our brain as the organ it is functions/responds to alcohol, not a character flaw or weakness as a person. Similar to a person with diabetes that can't help that their organs/cells don't function properly causing them to have issues with insulin production. I have almost completed the 12-week intensive part, and my life has completely changed. I no longer crave alcohol; when I do drink I drink waaay less than I used to and am well, "normal". My anxiety/depression is the most managed it has been for YEARS, my body feels healthier, and my friends/family say I am overall a happier person. The statistics show that what is being commonly practiced isn't working. I really hope the ReNova Institute programs become more widespread, it can help so many people struggling with alcohol.

Several people in my group liked it so much that we've continued on to SOP. This program has turned my life around.
