That being said friendship is friendship and business is business. My good friend Tiffany Pecora and her mom Judy Baker Pecora own Pecora's Pet Care, LLC. Tiff took care of D&G while we were away. Let me tell u.. If u need pet sitting USE THEM!! Tiffany is a good friend but treated this like a job separate from our friendship. The pups stayed on schedule, had walks, lots of cuddling. I got pics & updates. She stripped my bed and put on new sheets and pillow cases and made the bed beautifully! She folded all blankets (offered to wash them all but I stopped her OCD lol!) picked up all toys and the house was SO CLEAN! It made coming home stress free. Whether u need a pet walked, let out, boarding, or overnights at ure house USE THEM!! We also used them daily the 1st year of Gia's life. Let me tell you they were saints. Gia peed in her crate almost daily. They would clean the crate, clean her then walk them both without complaint. We asked Gia be hand fed her lunch (we were teaching her to take food gently as well as practice small commands like "sit" & "stay" ) well she did that too (I have security cameras that no one can see and I saw her doing every single thing I asked of her) I felt like I hit some kind of doggy jackpot!! They are the reason I can go out late, go on vacation, know if there's an emergency they will handle it and I never have to stress! I also recommended them to my SIL. A older friend of hers was standing beside in a hospice as his wife was dying. He knew it would be a week or so and HATED leaving her bedside but had a dog at home. My SIL contacted them (Pecora) and explained his dilemma. They moved things, worked extra hours and gave the man updates on his dog so he could stay by his wife and focus on her. He later mentioned that they were a godsend. He would never have forgiven himself if he left and she passed but because of Pecora Pet that wasn't going to be a worry. I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

Our dog is anxious around people and larger dogs, and within a few hours of being alone with Erin she was already demanding cuddles on the couch. My own mother has struggled to get my dog to come near her. Erin is extremely experienced with dogs and within a few minutes of interacting with her already knew what to do and what not to do. We actually had to pull our dog out of her house because she was so comfortable there. Obviously Erin will be our only dogsitter going forward. My husband and I are crazy dog people and we do not easily trust people to watch our baby. You can absolutely trust Erin, and she will love your pet like her own.

I had high hopes for Parkwood Pet Resort because it is new, conveniently located in Pikesville, and…read moremuch closer to me. I live in Owings Mills and normally drive to Downtown Dog Resort in Locust Point with my 70-pound, fawn-colored Lab/Pit mix, Buffy. I thought I'd try somewhere closer for a weekend boarding stay. Lesson learned: convenience isn't everything. I went to Parkwood on Thursday for a tour, Buffy's temperament test, and to pay the deposit for her Friday and Saturday stay. The young woman at the front desk was wonderful. She greeted Buffy warmly, gave her nose kisses, gave us a tour, and then took Buffy back for her temperament test. About five minutes later, she returned and told me everything went fine and that Buffy was a sweet dog. I left feeling very good about the facility. Then Friday happened. A different employee, Elizabeth, was working. The atmosphere immediately felt different. She didn't warmly greet me or Buffy. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt--it was Friday, after all. As we went through Buffy's food, I also had treats for her. Elizabeth told me they could only feed dogs during scheduled feeding times. I explained these weren't a meal, just treats, but I accepted that they had their rules. Buffy is trained and wears a correction collar. I was then told she could not wear it there and that I would either have to drive home for a different collar or purchase one from them. At this point, I was starting to wonder if they really wanted Buffy there, but I tried not to read too much into it. Then another dog, whom I'll call "P," arrived. P and Buffy barked at each other. To me, this was normal excited dog behavior. P's owner didn't seem concerned and even stopped to pet Buffy. Elizabeth, however, reacted as though Buffy had done something seriously wrong. She then brought out her own small dog to see how Buffy would react. Buffy simply sniffed and walked around her. The small dog began barking at Buffy, and Elizabeth said, "Oh, she's just setting boundaries." That was interesting to me. When her dog barked, it was "setting boundaries," but when Buffy barked, it seemed to be a problem. Elizabeth then took Buffy to the back with larger dogs. Again, Buffy and another dog walked around each other and barked. Elizabeth immediately brought Buffy back out and told me maybe she was just excited that day, but they couldn't have her there. She offered a refund and suggested I try their West Baltimore location instead. If Buffy's temperament was genuinely unsuitable for Parkwood, I can respect their decision. What I couldn't understand was why she passed the temperament test the day before, why I was told she was a sweet dog, and then suddenly wasn't welcome the next morning. And if her behavior was truly the issue, suggesting another location within the same company didn't make much sense to me. I asked for my refund and left. I was told it would take 3-5 days. As I was leaving, I saw other dogs arriving who were also barking and getting excited. Dogs bark. Dogs get excited. That's normal. What bothered me was the apparent difference in how that behavior was interpreted when it came from Buffy. At first, I thought perhaps I had simply encountered a staff member who wasn't a good fit for us. I later learned Elizabeth is the owner, which honestly changed my perspective. I'm simply sharing my experience as a paying customer and dog owner. I also tried to share this on Google, but reviews are currently disabled. Interesting. Buffy has been boarded and trained at Downtown Dog Resort in Locust Point for about two years. They know her, work with her, treat her like family, and she gets excited before we even get off the 95 exit because she knows where she's going. She boards frequently, swims there, and always comes home happy, clean, and exhausted. I made the mistake of thinking a newer, closer facility would be worth trying. It wasn't. Not every dog daycare and boarding facility is created equal. I learned that lesson the hard way. So, consider this my apology to Downtown Dog Resort for ever thinking I could find the same level of care simply by going somewhere closer. If you want a place that genuinely knows your dog, treats them like family, and makes them excited to walk through the door, I personally recommend Downtown Dog Resort in Locust Point. Buffy and I will happily make the drive.
