Our first encounter was for a quick tour and a day session where Ledo got a chance to try out the facility. Dogwood sits on the outskirts of Baltimore City and has so much space that he comes home exhausted whenever I pick up Ledo. Since that first time, we had boarded him twice, and each time, we could not be any happier than to see Ledo so happy. The Lodge offers grooming services; in fact, if your pet stays for a certain period of time, they will get a bath. Anytime we send Ledo there, I make sure that he gets a bath and a nail trimming because yes, my dog does deserve to get pampered as much as his owner. The staff is completely professional from when I drop Ledo off to the time I pick him up. When I took the tour, I was told that there is somebody on the premises 24 hours/day as there is somebody that lives on the premises. My take, if you live in the Baltimore area, this is the place to go if your pooch needs a getaway.

The owner, Amanda, has been communicative, friendly, and loves our dog like her own. Sarah is our main walker and shes AMAZING. Their walkers all go above and beyond with pets, toy play, and lots of pet cuddles too. We love the picture updates on walk days, complete with adventure tales, a map of the walk route, and information on potty breaks, water refills, etc. With great communication, easy scheduling, and friendly service, I can't recommend them more to anyone in Baltimore County looking for a dog walker.

Scheduling is hella easy, they open at 8a and they take walk in appointments. Pricing is fair, they offer full service grooming, and I believe an in between cut. The staff there are really nice. As far as the locale, small signage, fair parking, open space once inside. Super clean, grooming area in the back. The only shots required are thee rabies....I'm learning that other places require more, sheesh I learn new things everyday. There are crates there, I'm not sure where the dogs hang out until their owners pick them up. I'll ask the next time we go back. My Duchie came out happy and just so cute! I needed help with training, and I honestly couldn't have made a better choice. Daft did an amazing job training Buffy and continues to work with her whenever he sees her during boarding. The entire staff is wonderful and treats Buffy like family. As soon as we get off the 95 exit, she gets so excited because she knows exactly where she's going and can't wait to get inside! They've even introduced her to swimming on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which she absolutely loves. I travel quite a bit and board Buffy frequently, and she always comes home clean, happy, and completely exhausted--which is exactly what I want! I'm writing this review because I learned the hard way that not every dog daycare and boarding facility is created equal. Since I live in Owings Mills, I decided to be lazy and try a place closer to home just for the weekend, Parkwood Pet Resort in Pikesville. I won't go into all the details because there's a lot, and I'm addressing those concerns with their corporate office. I'll simply say that after I had already paid a deposit and Buffy had completed her temperament test the day before, they made it very clear that they didn't want her there and even suggested that I take her to their West Baltimore location aka the more Urban location. I'll leave it at that because I don't want to turn this review into a negative one about another business. However, that experience definitely opened my eyes and made me realize just how special Downtown Dog Resort really is. So, this review is also my apology to Downtown Dog Resort for ever thinking that all dog daycare and boarding facilities were created equal. They are NOT! I know that every day someone will be there around 1pm or so to get him out for a good 30 minute walk. I come home every afternoon to a happy dog and a note letting me know of any adventures (or misadventures) during their visit. They sometimes text me a photo of his escapades while they have him out. Totally reliable and they LOVE dogs (or at least MY dog). I can wholeheartedly recommend them for your pet walking/sitting needs.

At the time they started, we had two dogs, one of whom was elderly and needed extra TLC. Not only did Tim, our walker at the time, provide that, one time when I was traveling for business, our Daisy got out, and even though it wasn't his day to walk her, when Tim saw her, he immediately stopped what he was doing, let her back in, and texted me to let me know. After Tim left Daly, our current walker Julie started, and the high quality of care continued. As our Daisy's health began to fail, Shelly and Julie were solicitous and caring, and when Daisy crossed over, left us a card and watched out for our younger dog, Camden, while he mourned his big sister. Camden loves Julie SO much that he gets excited when he hears her car pull up, and is a giant smiling wiggleworm of a pup when he sees her. In short, I LOVE Daly!
