Spectacular local to Cannon Beach area photographer! We did family pictures with him in September and the whole process was a breeze. He's very responsive to inquiries along the way and had great ideas for locations. The day of the shoot he was early and so easy to work with. He gave helpful directions but also captured plenty of candid moments with the family. With 2 young children it can be hard to get them smiling authentically but he did a great job of capturing their personalities and we got numerous great pictures of our whole family as well. Dan's work is breathtakingly gorgeous and I'm sooooo happy he was our photographer! We met Dan at the Del Mar Bridal Bazaar. We talked to every single photographer there, and Dan was by far the best! Both my fiance and I agreed when we first saw Dan's booth, his photos were unlike all the others. Vibrant colors, beautiful landscapes, perfect framing - his work totally stood out above the rest. While talking to him Dan was incredibly friendly, and he even knew a trick for taking photos of dogs (instead of saying their name, make a weird sound)! Shortly after the Bridal Bazaar we set up a meeting at Starbucks. He answered all of our questions and showed us example wedding albums. Bonus for us: He's also read the Lord of the Rings books, which was perfect for our Middle Earth wedding! Engagement Photos = Dan recommended a location that fit our checklist - we scouted it out and loved it. He was very easy to work with during the shoot. His positioning/posing instructions were easy to follow, which was very important because we know nothing! We brought along our dog (and one of my bridesmaids to help with the dog) and Dan knew exactly what to do to get great photos with our pupper. Unfortunately we got kicked out of the park because it was closing sooner than expected; I wish the shoot could've gone on longer but Dan was still able to get amazing photos. Wedding Day = Dan hadn't been to the venue before so he arrived early to scout it out. Dan and his second shooter were able to capture a variety of photos, all of them beautiful. Portraits, details, action shots, guests' happy faces, even food photos - so many gorgeous photos to choose from. There are some split-second shots that I am amazed he was able to capture AND they came out beautiful! Dan is very responsive via email and super easy to communicate with! He delivered everything on time (wedding photos took about 7.5 weeks). And his prices are incredibly reasonable! 5 Stars does not seem enough to give Dan Rice Photography! After doing extensive research on Oregon photographers our family of 5 traveled from So Cal. and chose a Family photo session with Dan at Cannon Beach. From the very first communication Dan always kept in touch and was very flexible and accommodating in terms of selecting a photo day with some Oregon sunshine which can be tricky this time of the year. Dan was engaging, patient, kind and always kept his professional eye open for just the right photo spot to capture our photos and spent about 2.5 hours taking individual photos of my 3 kids, family group photos and sibling photos. Dan also took extra time to photograph my son who is a Senior in High School in his graduation suit so that we could share with family. When I needed an advance photo of my son/family for a school event, Dan responded quickly land loaded several in a Gallery so I could use, I mean if that's not accommodating then I don't know what is! I can't say enough about Dan - he was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We first met Dan to chat about his photography style, and to see if he would be a good fit for us for our March 25, 2017 wedding. Dan was efficient in getting back to us and setting up a time to meet and get to know each other. As soon as we met Dan, we knew he would be a great fit for our wedding. We had a big bridal party - 17 people, 4 flower girls, and 3 dogs - and Dan was confident that it would not be a problem to photograph a party of this size. We did an engagement session with him and the photos came out stunning (we have not ordered prints yet because we wanted to order them along with our wedding photos, but we plan to order them as soon as we see our wedding photos). Wedding day was chaotic, as most weddings are, but Dan and Jo (Dan's second photographer) were cool as cucumbers. Prior to the wedding, we sent Dan a list of specific photos we wanted to capture throughout the day. He was able to get all of those shots and many more. Dan is friendly, he listens to any requests, and he handles the drunk and rowdy guests with grace (and we had a few of those). Immediately following the ceremony, our families were difficult to wrangle, yet Dan remained patient the entire time (I can't imagine how frustrating it is to deal with slow-moving people when you're on a time crunch). Our wedding was just a couple weeks ago so we have not gotten our photos back, but I am confident that they will be absolutely beautiful.
