This was definitely the case here at WCCT. The pride in their work and love of theater were apparent here. The actors and crew did a wonderful job. Ames Community Theater brings plays and musicals to the small college town casting Iowa State University students, music teachers, townies from inside and surrounding counties, and even sometimes casts local kids. Audition; it's fun and they find something to do for everyone! The building is accessible, seating is roomy, it's clean, they sell alcohol and often serve hors d'ouevres on opening and closing night, and the tickets prices haven't gone up in over a decade - $15/ticket for plays and $20/ticket for musicals. It's a nice space for anyone with a love for shows whether it's in volunteering your time and talents or as an audience member!

Parking is easy and organized. A handicapped friend raved about their parking situation. The interior is immaculate, with great acoustics. The balcony and side balcony seating are superb options. There are some beverages and nibbles, but I would show up fed! Some social causes were highlighted in the main lobby. I appreciated the kindness and professionalism of the staff and security personnel. The Barenaked Ladies and Toad The Wet Sprocket were fantastic, and the 2600-seat venue performed well!

Iowa's oldest continually operating Theater / Opera house right in downtown Story City…read more It's fairly well-kept and you can catch a movies here about 2-3 weeks after they are initially released. Unless it's a block-buster movie event and I feel compelled forgo the wait on Netflix I watch movies here. It's just too easy as a Story City resident and you can't beat the prices. For $5 you can gain admission and a snack. You're not going to find DLP projection or DTS here. You're also not going find 3-D movies. High value and convenience and historic surroundings. The seats here are just plain wood. Something close to what I recall in the auditoriums of my high school. They aren't the most comfortable but will serve the purpose for the duration of any film. A neat little theater and another great asset to the people of Story City. While it may not offer a lot of awe in comfort or technical execution it's really nice to be able to watch recent movies right here in northern Story County at a low price.
