The theatre I grew up with had 20 screens, and it was surrounded by a plaza of food and activities. Gladbrook theater is still the coolest movie theater I've ever been to. Ever. Yeah, I suppose you could say it's because it was novel to me. It was cute and quaint, and the fact that it only shows one movie at a time is funny... but that's not what was so cool. What's cool is that the little town in the middle of corn fields and air decided they wanted a theater, and they did it. It's run by volunteers, and it's probably only frequented by the people who live near the town, but it's awesome. The place was clean, the snacks were cheap, and the movie selection for the night I was in town was perfect. I saw Wreck It Ralph in a little theater on a cold snowy night in Gladbrook, Iowa, with my boyfriend and two other awesome guys, one of whom was wearing a Teemo hat. Pretty great memory, I should think. I do think, in fact. If you live near here and you haven't stopped by, you really should. This place is great and definitely needs to be supported.

Prices aren't competitive with other theaters- both tickets and menu prices are inflated beyond reason. 2. The volume on any given movie is deafeningly loud, so loud where you can hear distortion in the audio. Bring earplugs! Seriously! 3. Place is an absolute mess. I'm still picking popcorn out of my shoes. 4. Popcorn was crazy salty. 5. Minor complaint, but the green Exit sign was illuminated so bright that I genuinely had a hard time seeing darker parts of the film. I know not much can be done about that. In short, the place is great if you have some dough burning a hole in your pocket or you're a fourteen year old that's not going to pay attention to the movie. Otherwise, if you actually want to enjoy the film you paid a premium price for, look elsewhere.

They also have a full bar in the front and a patio area outside. They have a large private parking lot and is very clean, updated and trendy. This place is perfect for date night, family night or a gathering with your co-workers. Be on the lookout for the complex's Game Night. I did not visit the movie theater part. I spent my time at the bowling alley and arcade. They also have a private room that can be rented out for special events such as birthdays and corporate parties. The lanes were $30/lane (up to 6 bowlers for an hour), plus $5/per bowler for shoe rental. The lanes were very modern. They have electronic scoring and there are bowling assist tools available. As I mentioned they have a full bar. They also serve food. The menu is light, but would do if you were really hungry. I got a BLT with a side of broccoli. It was good, buit bowling alley food. I would not come here just for the food though. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. The arcade is decent sized and has your typical games were you can earn points towards cheaply made but overpriced toys. The arcade was also very clean. I do know that if you are going to check out a movie, they recommend that you skip the line and purchase your tickets in advance, online. This is a fun spot to be and you can easily spend a few hours here. I highly recommend checking this place out. It will not disappoint.
