Quite a few of the students there aspire to and achieve careers in music, but it is also a great place for children (and adults!) who want instrumental music to be an important part, but not the biggest part, of their lives.

The director is extremely talented at music and teaching, but managing a business is not her talent. We had to discontinue our lessons here for a number of reasons. First, it was extremely expensive. Second, it was very difficult to reschedule lessons, and you end up losing money if you can't reschedule within the semester because you still have to pay, even if you didn't get all your lessons. Third, it was very disturbing to receive disrespectful voicemail and email messages from management. It was also annoying to receive multiple emails a day in all caps for lessons and performances that do not even apply to you. All parents receive emails for all instruments and age groups, so it's really annoying to see multiple mass emails a day. You also get nickeled and dimed for every second. There's not even time to chat with the teacher for a few minutes after the lesson because there's another student scheduled and waiting until the second your lesson is over. Some personal anecdotes from this school include being lectured and screamed at over the phone about taking a family trip and having to miss a class, instead of waiting for when the director was in Florida on her vacation.... not only was this disrespectful, but we didn't even miss class or go on vacation, as they mixed us up with a different family. Another anecdote is being charged for lessons that were rescheduled due to the teacher's schedule, only to find that unbeknownst to us, the director hired a substitute teacher 24 hours before the lesson, but we had no idea and then received rude emails and voicemails. Fantastic teachers, but we couldn't handle paying that much money for all the harassment and stress. I'd recommend this school for very serious students who want the teachers enough and are willing to pay top dollar and deal with the management.

I wish the instructor would move to Seattle (preferably Eastside) and teach similar classes here :D I love having a dance class. Maybe controversial, I also liked that we were in charge of most of our own warm up, especially since I came in early, and we could spend more of the class time actually learning the choreo (which in this case happened to be a long trick on hammock). The instructor was very friendly and welcoming. The point I'm deducting is the location, mostly because it felt super sketchy coming in and it wasn't the easiest to find, and leaving later didn't feel the *safest*, despite the fact that I was using uber/lyft to get around (not public transit). But I liked the studio space itself-- very huge and airy and lots of space for each student. And very colorful!

I trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, along with my sister, from age 6 to age 17, when I…read moregraduated high school. I went on to dance professionally with several ballet companies because of the training that I received from Mr. and Mrs. White, Bryan Koulman, and Melinda Pendleton. The Whites have created a beautiful school in Narberth that so many dancers, and their families, consider a second home. The training is mainly in the Vaganova method, however, each instructor provides a slightly different emphasis. Bryan Koulman is a seasoned choreographer and his classes are both challenging and dynamic. There are several performance opportunities throughout the year, including the Nutcracker and a Spring showcase, which allow students to diligently rehearse and perform regularly. I always appreciated the active adult ballet program, which many schools do not offer, because I could continue coming back to take class long after I had stopped dancing professionally. My mom would even take the adult class throughout my childhood, which I loved. I highly recommend the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet for both children and adults. This studio strikes the appropriate balance between being a serious training school while also facilitating close friendships among the students.

This is a revitalization of a movie theater, or almost Vaudeville looking theater from the early 1900s. Complete with a huge marquee outside. It now has 1200 seats and is a perfect venue for viewing concerts on the stage. A couple very positive things to point out besides the fact that it looks absolutely fantastic inside. Number one, the seats are incredible. No I don't mean just the view of the stage, I mean, the actual seats, they are cushioned, in great shape, large, and spacious. Meaning unlike an old theater that you feel like you might need to squeeze in between the arm rails, these chairs are ample. With plenty of legroom, too. Next, this venue is clearly going to be a great deal for the little town, as 1000+ people descend to go to a show, many of them are looking for bars and restaurants to attend. Here the town seems to recognize this! There are volunteers, and even a police presence out front of the venue to make sure that everybody can cross the road safely to the parking lot located across the street. Third is the ease of getting an Uber. While I am unsure of parking at large, I did see a lot across the street, I decided to take an Uber. Very easy to get dropped off, and just a tip I learned, on pick up, place yourself at the nearby Septa train station parking lot and get out of the fray, I called for the Uber when the show ended and by the time I got to the parking lot, my Uber was just pulling in. Overall, just a really nice venue and one that I'm looking forward to visiting again.

I like the Institute because of the independent and retro films they screen, but not all theaters…read morein this multiplex are the same. Or as comfortable. I appreciate stadium seats. I like walking upstairs to the mezzanine to find my perfect spot. (I may sound nuts, but I look for a seat where the screen is big and doesn't require a head tilt -- more of a 'movie' experience than watching Netflix at home.) Well, Theater 1 doesn't cut the mustard. The auditorium is one level, oddly long. To achieve my important no-tilt criteria, I sit far back. But then the screen looks small! If there's a movie I want to see, should I call the theater to find out where it's being screened? I probably won't. But I might! Fingers crossed that it's not in Theater 1.
