Great neighborhood venue The theater is located on Route 30. There are multiple nearby parking options and restaurants. Insanely good mixing and volume at this venue. Genuinely the best I've ever heard for such a space. Heard an acoustic set from Kevin Hufnagel opening for Matteo Mancuso, and the former's mix was superb. Then, the latter's-- who's was much less acoustic-- was mixed extremely well, even with a full drum kit backing them up. In honor of Thanksgiving, I give thanks to my local music venue which has grown and gotten significantly better with age. With my first review during the early days of 2014, I was impressed with what I saw there while being critical of what needed grounds for improvement. Now nearly ten years later I need to give due thanks to them not only for fixing the snafus that I saw but also for exceeding expectations in a lot of the other departments! The first thing I love is AMH's commitment to the local area which you see in their partnership with Ripplewood that sees them sharing a kitchen and a lot of events. But you also see it in the local acts that they bring in on a regular basis, and the exterior events that they provide the music for like outdoor shows in Suburban Square, and the big Ardmore Rock n' Ride Festival. During the pandemic, AMH helped keep my sanity by still live-streaming events like two nights of the Philadelphia Music Festival and a super fun Living Colour show. I've also grown to appreciate the the brews and food that they bring have since all the food comes from Ripplewood, and their tap list might just be the most extensive and reasonably priced that I've seen for a music venue. The main reason to go to AMH is the shows. And in the past few years I've been able to see local acts like The Dead Milkmen, Low Cut Connie, and Japanese Breakfast; and well known acts like Flock of Seagulls, Fishbone and Chameleons (UK) play here. Toss in things like dance partiea and beer festivals, and it definitely runs the full gamut of providing a good time. read more

We went here last night for a showcase for wedding bands with BVTLive. The venue was a good size and they had a bar on the top and bottom floors. We were seated up on the top floor with one other group, with the majority of the guests on the lower level. They also serve a small food menu during the shows as well. We ended up having chicken tenders and fries and they were surprisingly good! The sound and acoustics in the music hall were great and the bands were so talented! read more

Great place to see live music! Very intimate venue with lots of great spots to see the stage. Nice pit in front of the stage, seating in the back of the lower level, and a nice balcony with close standing room space on the side right above the stage, and mini tables and couches at the back. they have bars upstairs and downstairs with a great beer selection, wines, and mixed drinks. And they have a real good beer list! Also, they had a menu of tasty food options. After the great sound system and acoustics, the best feature of the venue was the people! Every single person we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Hands down, this was the best music venue I've ever been to in terms of staff. Clearly, they enjoy their jobs and love music, so they made the audience feel welcomed. Looking forward to coming back in the future! Keep booking good music acts! read more

When AMH opened- I was ecstatic to have real music venue nearby. As an avid music fan that listens to all genre, AMH had a variety of bands local, tribute, underground- 70's 80's, 90 and current sounds. I have been going shows here now and then and every time I've been impressed by the friendly staff and cleanliness of the venue. My younger days - growing up an hanging in DC sceneI frequented music venues where I had ViP privileges since i knew the local bands/staff working - I loved being part of the DC music scene- made many friends at shows. I miss that and to night, thanks to Brian C. Who kindly gave my friend and I tickets while enjoying a cocktail at Izzy's next door, took me back to those happy days as if the I was back into a music scene. He welcomed us to hang out with his group and introduced me to the staff and owner- all super friendly and fun! Watching the band and hanging out gave me such a high. I joined their membership ( awesome benefits) as I intend on making this place my new music scene and support the hall that makes music lovers happy and Ardmore a great place to go. A great place to see a show - weather it's local fave - Dead Cover band "Splintered Sunlight", or Philly classics like Tommy Conwell (and the now middle-aged rumblers). We like the upstairs balcony seats (cost most but worth it) best. Friendly staff and clean(er) restrooms. Love it here. read more

Interesting venue! I was pleasantly surprised by the small, intimate feel of the venue. The crowd was chill and because the show I went to wasn't packed, there was room to walk around and watch the performance from different angles. The venue hosts a variety of performances, from national indie bands to local cover bands. Located in downtown Ardmore, there's plenty of parking in the area, and the venue is about a two minute walk from the Ardmore train station. Looking forward to seeing my next show there! read more

Came here to see one of my favorite musicians (Langhorne Slim) play last spring, and it was an incredible experience. The music was obviously the best part, but the venue absolutely contributed to what an incredible concert it was. The layout of the club can be confusing because there are so many different seating areas on two different levels, and four different bars. Each area has different advantages and price points, so it's worth it to do the research on their website and decide what makes the most sense. We sat in the second row of the balcony at a table which was perfect. Great view of the stage and easy access to the bar and restrooms. But seriously, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Great menu, lots of local beers in cans and on draft. Always a plus with me. The whole place is right on the Main Street of downtown Ardmore, so lots of options for dinner and drinks before the show. If you want an intimate space to see some lesser known artists, this is a great place to check out. Can't wait to see another concert here soon. read more

Time for an updated review, and a fifth star! This is a fantastic venue, with a friendly music loving staff, great bands, great fans, and a solid food and beverage menu. I'm so lucky to live so near this place. Great cover bands and original artists come through here year round. The sound is good from just about anywhere and they have numerous monitors showing the stage, not to mention the fantastic balcony upstairs with VIP seating. Parking is decent with a big lot across the street, and the train stop is right behind the venue. They also have a great membership program which I highly recommend. It pays for itself with $100 worth of drinks, a free ticket, discounts on food, tickets, and merch, plus free member events through the year. Stop by and ask the box office about the membership program it's a great deal! read more

Great venue except for the curly-haired "Karen" employee who tried to kick us out of the reserved seating area. We told her we were just taking selfies, and pictures with the posters in the background. We weren't going to sit there since it was too far from the stage! When we tried to explain ourselves, she kept talking over us and almost destroyed our vibes. Typical Karen. The only reason why I had to mark down 1 star. Management needs to have a talk with her crazy ass. Other than Miss Karen, the Ardmore Music Hall is a good venue. Mcdonald's down the road offers better food. The staff and service working seem like they are all working and failing at anger management. Very rude men at the doors to greet you. The ambiance was so terrible I had to leave. The building was nice but the staff made the experience unbearable. Feels like a scam. Saw a 40 year old staff member screaming at a confused younger man. I watched it happen tonight. It was fucked up. And then afterwards when i discussed it with friends and strangers, it was overwhelmingly apparent that this is the norm at the Ardmore. Placed an order for pierogies at 7:56 PM when the venue was relatively empty. Watched the venue fill up, watched people order their food after me, watched people who ordered pierogies after me receive their food before me, watched the bartender take my boyfriend's number away and I had to call them over to say that he hadn't got his food and then they asked what we both ordered. This was asked twice and gone to check on twice. Received my food almost an hour after ordering it. An hour. This place sucks. read more

Went here last night & had an exceptional time. Steely Dan tribute band was fabulous & opener was super too. We were greeted when we came in, given directions to our seating area and off we went. 2nd floor balcony reserved (sort of) seating. We got there early & had our pick of several high top tables. We were very shortly approached by a friendly server who made sure we were good with drinks & checked on us several times throughout the evening. Very good service. Only change I would suggest is doing something with the step up to the seating area. Some poor guy didn't see it, tripped and fell. Maybe a ramp instead of a step. We will be back for sure though. This place could be great except for a few shortcomings. 1) The 'first come first served' seating is a nightmare. This does not bring out the best behavior in people. For example people reserving rows of seats that are not occupied 'my friends are sitting there' etc. And also moving the actual seats around, blocking aisles. It can get get unpleasant. Also, if you want good seats you have to get there early. This means maybe half a hour in line outside, then 90 minutes or so just holding your seat waiting for music. Fun! 2) Over sold shows. I've been here a few times where you literally cannot move. Not sure what the fire marshall in Ardmore is doing, but this place must be over their allowed maximum. 3) Ticket prices are just wow. Currently I'm looking at a show, Alfa Mist, a great young jazz musician, but probably not a huge draw. 2 seated balcony tickets cost $163! And the seats aren't even reserved, you have to fight (or at least race against) your fellow concert goers for them. I hope AMH sees this and can take it as constructive criticism. But given that the bottom line is money, I'm not too hopeful these things will change. read more

Many years ago, there was a fabulous local hotspot "The Main Point" in Bryn Mawr where local and regional acts performed as well as some national acts - either before they were famous or after when they just wanted to play with little fanfare. When The Main Point closed, there was a definite vacuum, suddenly all these really great musicians had nowhere to play. Enter Ardmore Music Hall. AMH occupies the space formerly known as Brownies 23 East and before that just 23 East. Those previous establishments catered to the college drinking crowd and the dive bar crowd, respectively. AMH is something entirely different, which is fantastic. It's a fairly intimate space, they've taken care to do their best with acoustics as well as you can in a space that's essentially a two story tall box. There are raised seating areas, a bar, and even upstairs VIP seating for some shows. I've been there for a folk act, an acoustic rock act and a full electric rock band. All of them were great shows. They have a variety of shows from tribute bands to national headliners (George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic play there regularly, Billy Squiers is playing there soon), to regional to up and coming. They even have kids rock shows and a twice-yearly funky brunch and market. I love that, because these acts all want and need this venue to play. Their staff are always nice and polite, even the very well muscled bouncers. They ask for my ID even though I am most definitely not under 21, and they call me Miss. Their mothers raised them well. The food is actually pretty decent for bar food, burgers, fries, etc, and their drink prices are reasonable. I'm looking forward to more great music at AMH. PS it's SUPER CLOSE to the Ardmore R5 and the Septa Bus Stations so you don't need a car. That means you can drink and not worry :) read more

They make it a point to show you their appreciation for your business. I've been here for a few concerts under a few different managements. I'm glad to see a local business doing well, but I'm not at all satisfied with the management style of the current establishment. It's associated with the restaurant next door and we ordered reserved seats which we hope, based on previous experience, gave us a good chance at a table. Oh well... The place is packed (good for them) but they didn't see fit to open up the second floor space. Anyway, I'd recommend you don't plan to eat here unless you've reserved an actual table. The food is just okay anyway. The music is good, as are the choices of beer. I don't think I'd be so pissed off if the guy working the floor wasn't so patronizing. read more

This is a fairly biased review as we came here to support our friend (A Night with Mary Fishburne-sold out show, btw) who was performing on center-stage. Granted, this was a Monday night show, filled with everyone we knew, and we were all excited for our friend on stage. However, the bar staff were very helpful, we got reasonably priced snacks (mahi wrap and eggplant dip) with immediate service. The specialty beer was only $5 per can and the AV people were masters of the lighting for the show. We were also able to walk around the block in between the intermission, grab some bobba tea, and return back to the event with the fruity drink without any hassles. Overall, I can't complain and while I may not know much about the musical theatre life as the next yelper, I certainly had a great time. read more

The talent the Ardmore gets is pretty impressive especially if you are into jam/ Dead related music. However, their staff is surly, certainly not real cordial and the bartenders are no longer all that friendly either. Also, at a show everyone and I mean everyone talks. Non stop. Talk. Talk, Talk. You can not hear the music over the nonsense of the conversations going on. The sound system is adequate. Not great. read more

Food was only ok; bar food plus. The management was pushing too hard to maximize revenue from the so called "premium" seats - marginal value for the money. Most of the staff was very nice and accommodating. One staff member, however, seemed like an out of control hall monitor. Empty "premium" seats MUST remain empty, no matter what! Otherwise, a great live music venue. I've enjoyed many great shows there. read more

I came down with Covid about 24 hours after purchasing last minute tickets to join friends at the Winter Beer Festival in January. I contacted them immediately after I tested positive and before the event. Unfortunately, they'd rather have people show up sick or take your money for nothing. While I have attended events and shows here in the past, their lack of understanding and accommodation was highly disappointing. They refused to offer a refund. Rather than make an investment in some customer goodwill, they'd rather take someone's money for nothing. Beware, you won't find accommodating or friendly customer service here. read more

They let us know outside the door when we were going to get in, and pre-stamped our wrists before we came in to make the entry process move quickly. I wasn't drinking and mentioned I wanted coffee outside and one of the bartenders brewed a pot! Really nice place-friendly and accommodating. I hadn't been to AMH in quite sometime mainly because with so many venues right in Philly, the schlepp to the burbs from the city is not so appealing sometimes. They do however host some of my favorite bands, awesome events such a live screening parties for Phish and Dead shows and family friendly events such Funky Brunch on Sundays with live music and vendors. They actually have an upcoming series I think it genius and I'm really looking forward to and that's The Dead, Phish and Beatles cover bands for shows geared towards kids!!! I love it!! AMH possibly has the most reasonably priced tickets around also. It took all of me last night to make it out to a show, but I'm so glad I went because it put the venue back on my radar and made me realize it's not such a hassle. Really it was only 13 minutes past the Mann and there was zero traffic on 76 at that hour. Winning! Parking was another thing I was dreading and I was able to park for FREE just doors down from the venue in a municipal lot open to the public anytime other than 9am-4pm. Awesome!! How did I not know about this?! Staff were super cool and the entrance process including purchasing tickets at the door was easy. Brews are definitely better here than most music venues and they're not insanely overpriced either. $6 for craft on tap. There is a $10 minimum/ start a tab policy on cards so if you're only drinking one, bring cash. They have a nice snack menu also. The place can get packed. Arriving early to score a space up front if you're short is the way to go or perhaps consider upgrading to balcony seats if you think seeing will be an issue. Sound quality is great and I always have a good time. After last night's show being so easy breezy, I look forward to making the trek up to Ardmore for shows more often! read more

I would love to give this place five stars but I can't. 1st, they exceed known SPL levels for performers and audience. Sustained levels exceeding 95dB, and peaks at 110. IT'S TOO LOUD. Giving control to the desk directly by the performer w/o max is bad. The bass performers all had this ability. Overload, distortions and uncomfortably loud in my opinion. At many points clipping could be heard and music sharply cutoff sounding rotten to the core. Remember, new amps "soft-clip" so it's harder to tell. It's when stuff is a musical jumble, w/o rhythm that we can count, but the performers follow in muscle memory. Happened at least twice in first act. Bass in both acts. Horns, keyboard as well. The ability of the performers to control the volume is awkward. It's loud, louder, loudest........always. The music bounces out the door onto Rt -30 into the neighborhood. Shouldn't be! They need to better "sound" the space during 1st + 2nd numbers. 2nd, the lighting is IN YOUR FACE ANNOYING! I cannot go here anymore. It is obnoxious lighting programmed by non-stage designers. Please hire someone with the 'LD' certification and have them program lighting that has to do with the show, not blinding us over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. I can shine a led flashlight in my own eyes for free. The idea of lighting IS NOT TO SHOW YOUR ABILITY TO CHANGE LIGHTING WILDLY SIX TIMES PER MINUTE. compliment, don't distract. Create mood and depth, not nervous anxiety. Highlight the performers, not the lights. That's why it's called lighting design - not lighting explosion. 3rd, Keep the show on schedule. A 7:30 showtime start should not start after 8, and have the main act start at 9:35. With a 7:30 start people start to leave at 10. Many left at 10:30. Remember work? Some of us do. 3 hours should do it. 4th, matching acts is hard. But a 23 minute BLARINGLY LOUD Prince rendition cover compilation as first act, with a headlining Internaltional 70's Jazz artist.................................Not in my catalogue. For that matter, a techno midi masterclassEDM group with a world renowned headlining pianist. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't think so. #1 and 2.....mandatory. #3. The Ardmore is a good sized venue with excellent acoustics. My girlfriend and I were guests on a recent night to see Buckethead perform. We were slightly perturbed that the staff hadn't made separate lines for general admission ticket holders and early seating ticket holders, but this became irrelevant when we were granted out early admission and managed to get spots in the front row. Mind you, we stood before the stage rather than sat upon the chairs in their seated section. This was the clear choice since the seating section doesn't afford the best views and is further back from the stage than would be preferable. That said, the extra ticket price was worth it for the early entrance as the place steadily filled up to capacity (it was a sold out show). The acoustics were good, security was reasonable and the bar served a fair selection of drinks at only a modest markup from average bar prices. The concert itself was excellent, and we would gladly return to the venue. We happened to catch a show on a Sunday and were able to park at one of the city lots for free! read more

We went for WXPN (radio station) "Funky Friday" afternoon dance party. Doors opened promptly at start (4:00PM), not a minute sooner. Once inside, we were happy to find a COAT CHECK ($3.00). WXPN was having a raffle so we scored a T-shirt. Then we hurried upstairs to claim some front row seats overlooking dance floor. Once DJ started we saw a dozen or so dancers get going right away. We got some drinks and waited for them and the music to take effect. Acoustics were very good. Upper level bar wasn't busy. By 5:00 place was pleasantly crowded without a mob. Main level bars were busy, but still accessible. People seemed very civilized and "experienced". Food was ordered at the bar and showed up at table in about fifteen minutes. A Cuban sandwich and order of fries ordered at bar showed up at table a were fine for both of us as long as you have realistic expectations. Bathrooms were found and were clean and neat. By 6:00 we were satisfied, so we beat the rush. We had parked a block away, which would have been OK except for the rain - can't blame the venue for that. There is plenty of parking scattered around town. We would go back for a live performance when right performer is there. read more

Damn you Ardmore Music Hall. I love that you support live music. I love that you bring in bands like the Jayhawks. But is it really that bad? You kicked out the tables for the up-charge seat but come on man! Rows and rows of chairs, no place to put your food or drink, with ZERO site-lines except for the first few rows. Money grabs. The waitstaff pushes drinks and food hard all night. The beer bar right in front of us. Some clown coming over to chat us up. The Ripplewood food was a nice touch but how the hell are you supposed to eat it? I know it must suck to be in this business. And everybody has to make a buck. So I'm not totally unsupportive of you doing what you gotta do to survive. But I liked what the up-charge got you before the rows of money-grab I really wanted to see The Weight Band but the experience you offer now is a pale imitation of the magic used to happen in that place. Saw the Menzingers here during Philly Music Fest. First time at this venue and we loved it. Clean and SUPER awesome staff- very welcoming and friend and the bartender who was working the tier 2 platform seating area was awesome.
