Scheduling an appointment with Susan was very easy and efficient. However, once I got to the store, I was fitted by Yara and unfortunately, she appeared to lack knowledge and poorly fitted me to my pointe shoes. She lacked expertise on how to properly find the right size. After I had gotten home and sewed on the elastics, the pointe shoes ended up being too small once I wore them with my gels resulting in cuts and blisters in my feet after one class on pointe. read more

I am a beginner adult taking dance classes for fun at Align Ballet Method. She made me feel very welcomed! Even though I was super nervous She has a fitting room where you can try on the leotards which really helped. The customer service was fantastic, and the woman did try her best to help me. I can't emphasize enough how friendly and kind she was before I add the bad part. I needed character shoes for a play I'm doing, and asked for my size. She put me in a half size smaller, insisting that I was even a full size smaller than I thought I was. Unfortunately I just had the worst, most painful rehearsal of my life with my toes completely curled over and numb in these shoes; more than any relaxing or breaking in of the shoes will ever remedy. I've worn the same kind before, for decades, and NEVER have they felt this way, I now have to do everything in my power to stretch them out, due to their no return policy. Why, why, WHY did I let her convince me it would be okay? Because she was super kind and I assumed she knew what was best. I guess go with your gut folks. read more

You can schedule your pointe shoe fitting & pick your appointment time online, which makes the process really easy. Time and care is taken to make sure of proper fit and they will see elastic/ribbons in for a fee so that you can go home with pointe shoes the same day. Super Cute! I was literally in and out so this review won't be as lengthy for you all! I needed fishnets for an audition and didn't feel like traveling far to another studio to grab some good ones so I decided to give Dancers Barre a try. First, I called to make sure they had the fishnets I needed (full fishnet tights, not thigh highs), and I got great customer service. I ended up going to where I thought was the location but they had actually moved to another area in Sherman Oaks so make sure you check the address because they did move from Riverside Blvd. The location: Dancers Barre is located on Ventura Blvd literally at Woodman Ave. next door to the cleaners and the UPS store. There is metered parking in front but I am not sure about customer parking in the back. I found it very easy to find parking in the meter. The store is super cute. It's feels like a nice dance boutique store. The owner had music playing and the store was nice and clean. Selection: I only needed fishnets at the time of my first shopping experience but even with fishnets, she had tons of options for me to choose from which I appreciated. Customer Service: The owner helped me and she was very friendly and helpful. I didn't get a snooty vibe at all from her and she really made me feel welcome at her store. Mention Yelp! Make sure you mention yelp when you get there and get 10 percent off! Overall, I really like this store and I love the location. I came into store just now and was inquiring about what appeared to be a shirt to me. I asked the saleswoman about it and referred to it as a shirt. She then said in a bad/somewhat negative tone "it's a leotard". Ok, whatever. I don't think she needs to emphasize that and if so, one could use a warmer tone. I was instantly turned off. Her tone with me, made me conclude that I'd never give her my business. I then asked if she was the owner. Surprisingly she said yes. Too bad for her. I've been in customer service and she was . I'll never step foot in the store again. She's cold. I was surprised to find out she was Armenian. I have come in contact with many Armenians and they are typically very warm people. read more

I will preface this by saying I am a professional dancer and dance teacher, so I am very particular about the quality of dancewear for myself, my kids and my students. This place is AWESOME!!!! The selection is great, and the owner Susan, is SO helpful to ALL customers. I am not one to speak negatively but, I have shopped at another dancewear store in the Valley, and witnessed not so warm customer service to the point that I wanted to leave, but couldn't because it was the only local place for good dancewear. I am SO grateful that Dancers Barre is here- as I feel so much better bringing my business here! Susan is lovely to every single customer that comes in. She made my toddler feel like a prima ballerina (and you know how fickle toddlers can be!) and put me at total ease when my kiddo wanted to touch everything and I was feeling self consciousness. One might say the dancewear is pricey, but actually, considering it is professional dancewear, the prices are actually good. She also carries LaDucas, which are the go-tos for Broadway :) (Laducas are the only reason my feet survived 8 shows a week for 5 years! ) Her store is beautiful, her product is beautiful, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: her demeanor is beautiful!!!! I am so disappointed in this store. I went here to get my daughter fitted for her first tap shoes. When the woman at the store fitted her they seemed really tight. It was voiced by me at the moment of trying them on. She then said once she has her tights on they will slip right on. First day of class.. not the case. I tried to explain to them the situation.. and coldly she voiced that they do not have any returns or exchanges. I can't believe this because I trusted they know what they are doing with fitting shoes. Apparently not. Please don't go here to get fitted. Bought shoes for 75$ that didnt have the buckle (later found it outside the box just in the bag) and could't even manage to survive a 45 min class because the Buckle broke!! I will NEVER shop there again. I bought $400 worth of merchandise for myself and my daughter. The sales girl said i could return regular and sale priced items. And extended the return period beyond the normal 10 days because we were going abroad for a few weeks. She even wrote it on my receipt and initialed it. When i tried returning brand new items with tags, the owner got really upset. She refused to return any items. She said that the salesgirl did not have permission to do so. She asked me why i didnt ask the salegirl if she had the owner's consent. As if it's my responsibility to do so!?!? Insulted me repeatedly infront of another customer. Horrible customer service! When I went into the store with my 2 year old daughter today, I couldn't even tell they were open. Nobody acknowledged our presence or offered to assist us. I noticed people inside of the shoe room and waited for the saleswoman to walk out. Once I flagged her down and asked my question, she walked away and I assumed she had gone to get the shoes we were looking for, but she never returned. I decided to follow her into the shoe room, but then she walked out without saying a word. I love this little boutique! They have a great selection of gorgeous leotards in many different styles and colors. They also have dance skirts and wrap skirts in a variety of colors, prints, and styles. Some flashy costumes as well. There's a kids' section and adults' section. They also have dance shoes, pointe shoes, etc. I love it! The lady running the store (sorry, didn't catch her name) was so kind and helpful. The owner and staff definitely need to work on customer service. I spent $200, bought what I needed and never coming back again. I am all about supporting small businesses even if I overpay (double the amount that's advertised online) but when the owner and staff are rude, then there is absolutely no need to go back when it's not appreciated. The owner is a piece of work. She begin screaming at my friend in front of my 3 year old daughter. Suzie kept stating she was the owner. But this doesn't give her the right to be rude and condescending to anyone. The outfit which was a gift, is still new and unworn. The tag was only missing because my 3 year whom the gift was for ripped the tag off immediately before we a chance to try it on her. "Susan" customer service skills are below the "barre." I have come here before and spent a lot of money for dance clothes for my dance class at Millikan Middle School. This year, They helped me find and fit on what I thought was the perfect shoe. In the car on the way home, I was admiring my shoes and realized that the inside sole was crumbling and falling apart. The yellow powder from the shoe was falling in chunks and yellow dust was all over me. The foam was breaking off and had turned to powder. This was the only one left, but it turned out to be the floor sample which has been handled many times. I thought I was getting a brand new pair from the back. I would have appreciated if they had let me know that it had been the sample shoe and was falling apart. read more

This store is wonderful. I bought a pair of LaDucas here a month ago and Susan helped me with all my questions when I bought them. My first day wearing them I noticed the floor of the box of the shoe was loose (from the manufacturer, not a problem with the store) so I called Susan to ask what to do. She was efficient and understanding in getting me the help I needed to get my new shoes fixed. A wonderful person to be in communication with!
