I've been going to Cratchit Dankcut's (the name is derived, in part, from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," which the English major in me adores) for over 1.5 years now, and I can't imagine going anywhere else! My hair is pretty stubborn, and before I found Zac I was hesitant about going to the barber because I knew that whoever was cutting my hair would be imprecise, dull and probably old as fuck. I can honestly that I've been satisfied with every haircut I've received from Zac, and that the reluctance I once had for getting haircuts has been replaced with an enthusiasm for the short time I get to spend at Cratchit every month or so. It's been so wonderful to see all of the thought, time, and care that Zac has put into cultivating his business. Besides the great, stylish décor and laid-back atmosphere, what makes Cratchit Dankcut's so great is Zac's discerning eye and innate skill as a barber. These traits shouldn't be taken lightly - in fact, I'd say that all of the success Zac has had so far is rooted in his persona as a small business owner and barber. He makes it a point to establish genuine relationships with all of his clients, and his sincerity as a man is so refreshing in a place like Irvine, where it's difficult to find shops run by cool, young people with good taste... Part of the allure of Cratchit Dankcut's is that it's local - the place is only 5 minutes from my house, and you can tell that Zac has managed to successfully build a quality institution that provides a service for guys who, fed up with dull and commerical salons like 18/8 and its ilk, want a place in which they can feel comfortable and taken care of. But all of this amazing shit comes at a price, which is that the sheer volume of customers that Cratchit Dankcut's has makes it difficult to schedule appointments. However, the new addition of Lorin (a great barber, who is working under Zac's tutelage) essentially doubled the availability and Augustine is always very helpful when it comes to scheduling. Danckuts is the TRUTH when it comes to men's haircuts. In a time where "barbers" line out shopping centers, Danckuts finds itself snuggled in the backside of a quaint little plaza. Most barbers that I've been to all give the generic cut that makes you look like every other guy on the street as quick as possible to send you on your way and take the next transaction but at Danckuts, you're welcomed by the most friendly staff who take the time to know your name and what you do. Matt greeted me the first time I went and, although I didn't have an appointment at an appointment only establishment, he tried to accommodate me the best way he could, offering me a refreshing beverage, suggesting I wait while playing some Mario kart, and frantically going through the system to see if there was any way to fit me in their busy schedule. Luckily for me, there was an opening and I was greeting by Hailey(sorry if I spelled it wrong). Now I know what you're thinking, "a girl at a barber shop?!" I was thinking the same thing but thank God I threw away that mindset. The barbers that are there are some of the best barbers/chill people that I have met. With Zac's (the owner) system, you're going to get the perfect cut every time, customized just for you. I thought it was just a hoax at first but then after I got my cut, they took pictures of different angles of my head to save it in their system so that the next time I go, it'll be just how I want it. I just finished up with a haircut at Cratchit Dankcuts and decided to write my review while my 5 experience was fresh in head. So I used to only go get my haircut when I couldn't stand my unmanageable hair anymore. I would either cut my own hair or go somewhere that I wasn't thrilled about going. Finally I was checking out new haircut places and found out about this place. I've been getting my haircut with Zac for a while now, even before he opened his own shop. Once the shop opened, Cratchit Dankcuts turned into more than a place to get your hair cut. It is a sweet place to hang out, grab something to drink, watch TV, have some good conversations, and get a sweet haircut at a good price. With some haircuts you need to wait a little bit for them to look good, but you will walk out of the shop looking fantastic. Cratchit Dankcuts fits me perfectly as it is not a fancy salon, but a place that really gets the job done and is very enjoyable to be at. Now I count down the days till my next haircut and always look forward to my next haircut. I highly recommend checking out this shop for your next haircut and guaranteed you will keep coming back. Danckuts has stepped up their game! Since my last review they completely renovated the shop and refaced their brand. There have been numerous additions to the haircutting staff, and I've had my hair cut by all of them and they are all consistent in making sure your cut is how you want it. They take pictures of your hair now after each cut and take notes of what you mentioned and how they cut everything. This ensures that every time you come in your cut is the same (or different in whatever way you want to go), no matter who cuts your hair. Customer service is awesome (Augustine is friggin awesome), they have free water, coffee, sodas (no high fructose ), and beer (21+). They play moves and shows while you wait. I've been coming here for 3-4 years now and love the vibe and everyone here they treat you like family. And they always make sure you have a great time while you're here. Price for a cut is $35, higher than average but well worth it if you're tired of inconsistent cuts or barbers who don't care about your cut. I have been getting my hair cut by Zac for almost a year now and I see to it that all other business is scheduled around my haircuts. I missed a flight and had to miss an appointment. Everyone know it takes 2 months and your first born child to reschedule with Zac. Nevertheless, I hit up Augie to see if by the grace of God there would be an opening in the next couple days. As fortune would have it there was an opening, but it was with Lorin. I'm not gonna lie, at first I was skeptical. Under normal circumstances I would not get my hair cut by a women, because a dude knows what it should look like as a finished product and women are fragile creatures that like fluffy things. No can do on the fluffy business. That being said, Lorin is bad ass and I would say my cut was equal to what I get from Zac (minus the world star hip hop fight reviews). She is extremely nice, but she can also bullshit with the best of them and tells it like it is. Lorin cuts a mean fade and a wicked straight hard part. Zac is a master of his craft and in true fashion he has hired someone that can replicate his signature touches. Well done good sir and ma'am. In closing, you are in good hands with Lorin. read more

This dude is LEGIT! Zac's talent and experience makes him one of the best. Some stylists just go off in their own little world and cuts away; Zac will never do that. He tries his best to give you the look you want, makes sure you know what he's doing, and also offers you his own advice. You will never get that awkward silence at Danckut's. Zac is the down to Earth kind of dude where you feel comfortable and can talk about anything. I've gone to many high-end, brand name places for my haircut; prices averaging around $50 (not including tips). I was shocked to see my haircut at Danckut's came out to 20 freaking dollars! Don't get robbed again, give Danckut's a try. Go in, grab a complementary drink (beer, wine, soda, or water), have a chat, and come out lookin' fresh. I guarantee you will be seeing Zac again. My son's hair had not been cut since summer and really had started to look like a mess. We had a family reunion this past weekend and knowing all of our relatives would be taking pictures, I figured I needed to do something about my son's hair. It was already Wednesday night and I didn't want to take him to Fantastic Sams or Super Cuts to get some uneven tasteless cut, and a friend previously had told me about this gentlemen only barber shop called Cratchit Danckut's in Irvine. She had raved about how great the prices were and how good of a job they did on her husband and how nice the place was and so on and so fourth. So I took her suggestion and called Zac; He was so nice and prompt and did an EXCELLENT job on my son's hair, i was thrilled. It was actually the best cut my son has ever gotten. The pricing was so inexpensive and the service was quick and clean as promised. My son got so many compliments on his dapper 'do at our reunion that my husband has booked himself an appointment for next week for a cut of his own. I have been a Cratchit Danckut's member since late 2012 / early 2013 when Zac was a one-barber show with Augustine working off shared space within salons. Prior to enlisting the duo, I would always shave my head. Besides the memories of forging stories and laughs, there is something about the establishment which prompted me to become a faithful regular. Cratchit Danckut's is consistent with archived information of haircut length and type as well as pictures of head angles, flexible with the ability to adapt and satisfy the client's needs, and intimate with amicable stoolside manner manifesting relationships for everyone to feel welcome and relax. The business has been growing, introducing novel services like a smartphone application and proposing expansion at additional locations. It is incredible but not surprising to see why the masses return for more. Step in with caution. After the first cut with Cratchit Danckut's, previous barbers may shed tears. Long story short these girls and guys know what their doing and I highly recommend them. I started getting my haircut here in middle school around 2014 at the irvine location and always received not only a phenomenal haircut but exceptional service. I stopped coming here for a while and tried alot of other barbers, some cheaper and other pricey. They were all either highly over priced or just a shit haircut. I recently went back to fix a bad haircut from floyd's and they completely transformed my hair. I cannot remember the women's name of the top of my head but bravo to her because I honestly thought I might have to go bald to get rid of that horrid haircut from floyd's. Zach has always been an honest and pleasant guy and it was really good to see him again when I went back. If you want a consistent and absolutely fucking fantastic haircut don't waste your time with any other shop because these guys are the way to go. read more

It turns out Jesus was right Danckuts was the place to go. This place has people that know what the fuck they are doing. They use the newest in tech to give you a pretty good cut. If you don't come here, then just give up and continue living the life of a dumbass because that's all you deserve. If you do come here, awesome, that's step one in your checklist of putting yourself right on track to having a more successful life. I don't usually yelp but it's a slow night and I am honestly pretty satisfied. To the guys at Danckuts keep doing what you're doing. ...I'll bring some brews next time. read more
