I have always believed in the simple statement 'You get what you paid for!' and when it comes to the highly prestigious Daniel Galvins', that statement fits the bill beautifully.
I first visited Daniel Galvins' after stumbling upon a popular tv show, whereby the 'models' were given a 'make over' and part of this process was getting their tresses radically restyled. Amid all the dramatic chaos of half the 'models' crying and screaming as their hair was cut and coloured, the other half actively embraced the much needed hair style change and happily let the stylists do their thing and transform them into butterflies. The stylist that stood out on my television screen was none other than James Galvin.
Tired of my hair cut and ashamed of my dodgy over bleached coloured hair I was looking for someone to radically transform me, but had no idea who to turn too!
I had heard of the world famous Daniel Galvin, but assumed he was the type of hair director that only the rich and famous had the pleasure of. How wrong was I!
Fuelled by that tv show and convinced James Galvin was the man for the job, I gingerly telephoned the salon and was greeted by a friendly voice. I explained I was looking for a cut with James and looking for a consultation about changing my colour from shameful bleached blond back to my natural brunette. The friendly voice offered me sound advice and before I knew it, I was swiftly booked into a free colour consultation with the delightful colourist Charlotte. Charlotte throughly listened to my hair colour home dyeing history and skilfully offered me several advice options on which colour to choose from and how this would suit my natural colouring and natural skin tones. Armed with choices to choose from and the all important price lists, I booked in to have my colour, followed by the all important style cut and change with James Galvin.
The day had arrived and Charlotte set to work on my hair colour and I found myself open mouthed as I watched Daniel Galvin, yes thee Daniel Galvin colouring a clients hair next to me. My assumptions were so wrong! Daniel Galvin actually works among all his colourists and was chatting away to his client like old friends having an old fashioned catch up. I was assured he was like that with all his clients and it was lovely to witness. Halfway through my colour, James came over to introduce himself to me, as he knew I was a new client to the salon. He was as every bit as charming, gorgeousness as he was on tv and I found myself swooning!
I was half way there! Charlotte was as good as her word and my colour was once again back to its natural chocolate brown, only this time it was rich and shiny and felt soft and silky. I was then taken downstairs where the lovely James was awaiting me. Sitting down in front of the mirror, James ran his fingers through my new coloured hair and complemented by resumed natural colour and began asking questions about my hair styles in general. Through doing this he got a clear picture of what my hair was like and how I treated it. He began cutting and styling my hair just the way it naturally wanted to fall and hang and he also began cutting and styling my hair uniquely to suit me. By the time he was finished, looking back at me in the mirror was one of the 'models' transformed into a butterfly.
So back to 'You get what you paid for!'. Daniel Galvins' isn't cheap, but then again it isn't a cheap high street salon. If you want an ordinary, generic hair cut and colour, then go to the high street and pray to god you get a separate colourist and stylist who know what they are doing. If you want a colour and cut knowing you will be getting the most highly trained colourist and stylist, who can look at your hair and know exactly what should suit you, to transform you, go to Daniel Galvins.
Book a colour consultation and see for yourself. Then book a style cut from the delightful James Galvin and prepare to be amazed at what that man can so skilfully do to your tresses. Don't be afraid, be brave and simply tell James to 'Do what you think will suit me!' and watch him work his scissor magic.
I promise, he will not disappoint and you really will 'Get what you paid for!'.
