Mr. Gindes practices law in Massachusetts. I was at a disadvantage in residing in California and needing the assistance of an attorney in Boston. I contacted the Massachusetts BAR for a referral. After explaining my situation they gave me Mr. Gindes's contact info. He seemed to have received good reviews which was reassuring. I called and he personally answered on the second ring. When I shared my situation he stated what his retainer fee would be. Before exploring or sharing options. He asked for a e-mail with pertinent info. I immediately sent what was requested. Nothing................ No response.............. I sent a followup message after a couple of days. Nothing........................ Not professional and not appreciated. If you don't have the courtesy to at least say "not interested" than how can that can instill trust in being an advocate? Dan is the most unprofessional lawyer I have ever had to deal with. PLEASE BEWARE OF HIM!!! The two other "5 Star" reviews are probably his family members. VERY VERY VERY VERY MISLEADING MAN! He does NOT care about his clients at all, very old school - does not even have a real office. In fact, he rents out a cubicle in some disgusting office in Salem. I could go on and on and on about him, but please - look elsewhere. He does not mention that he will charge you $150 for you to call him and discuss why you want to hire him. He WILL begin charging you ($250/HOUR!) THE MOMENT you call him. Not only that, he will not go over his fee structure, took advantage of my father who was very distraught (which is why we needed his services)!! He told my father he was going to be charged a flat fee and asked him to sign a piece of paper to begin the process. Well, at no point did he discuss any of the other fees that he was going to start charging including to before he even agreed to Dan's services. VERY MISLEADING! Please do yourself a favor and find another lawyer - Daniel Gindes gives lawyers a bad name. There are a lot of really professional, educated, and compassionate lawyers on the North Shore. This man is not one of them. He overbilled for hours, which is a disgrace! When I brought up my concerns to Dan he simply overexplained why he billed 30 minutes for a 5-minute phone call. He then continued to threaten to sue me if I did not pay up. Stay away! Daniel is a very competent compassionate lawyer. My wife and I went through a bankruptcy and foreclosure, and he helped us through it. He handled all the court proceedings very professionally, answered any and all our questions, and we had a lot of them. It was a very stressful, embarrassing and emotional experience for us and He was very understanding and patient with us. He explained everything to us. He quoted us a price and stuck to it. he didn't Nickle and dime us with extra charges. He even answered other questions on other issues we had and didn't charge us extra. Even after the whole thing was over he would answer any questions we had, even questions that didn't pertain to the bankruptcy, and he didn't charge us anything, even when we offered to pay him something. Just recently, years after the whole thing was over, we were being harassed by a former creditor and it only took 1 call to Daniel and he took care of it.
