Every month I got called by Dr. Daniel meline's office to come in for an endoscopy I made the appointment. I called them to tell him I had covid. I gave him 48 hours notice and they still charged me $50. They insisted that I do a video call. I explained I have covid. I do not feel well enough to do video call they sent me a $50 bill for a service I never received t I think the doctor and his staff are more interested in the money aspect of medicine then truly taking care of the patient I definitely would not recommend this doctor. I think he's more interested in the money than anything else or they wouldn't have charged me $50 for of an office visit. That never happened since I was so sick in bed with covid read more

I went to Arizona Digestive Health for counseling on having a colonoscopy. I met with Dr. Daniel Meline who was referred to me by my primary care doctor. I explained to Dr. Meline that I have never had a colonoscopy. I had been informed by several Gastrologists over the last 15+ years that due to my complex redundant colon, I was only a candidate for a Sigmoidoscopy. Dr. Melina read my previous reports that all concluded that a colonoscopy should not be performed due to my colon complexity. Dr. Melina gave me specific instructions on how to prepare for a colonoscopy and he assured me if I follow instructions on the prep, that he would do his best to give me a complete exam and assure me he wouldn't cause me any harm. I'm happy to say, Dr. Melina came though and completed the colonoscopy. I'm a healthy 77 year old who was extremely pleased with the outcome. Do NOT get a colonoscopy/endoscopy from this doctor!!! Read all of this so you know why...Puppy mill, conveyor belt, assembly line all come to mind. He and his office want you in and out ASAP, without taking into consideration any unusual circumstances you may have as a patient. Dr. Meline had been my GI doctor for a number of years, so he knows I have complications with Crohn's disease, extensive bowel resection many years ago etc. Recently went in for my scheduled colonoscopy and did all the appropriate preparations. As l am lying on the table about to be anesthetized, I reminded Dr. Meline, the anesthetist and the attending nurse to please remember my unique circumstances, don't put as much air (for the camera) into me as others along with any other precautions as I don't have the normal GI configuration and size. Seconds later I am under. Now the nightmare begins!!! I awake to vomit on my face and my pillow. The nurse is wiping it up and apologizing for such a mess. Turns out that I aspirated (vomited) into my own lungs while under anesthesia. Within minutes, my wife, in the waiting room in contacted that I am ready to go home. Puppy mill time! Got me out of there ASAP for next patient in line. Knowing I had an unusual outcome to the procedure, they did not keep me there for any time for observation. While driving home (less than 10 mins away), I began coughing up blood and phlegm. Once home, I vomited again (only thing left is some bile and stomach acids) and became uncontrollably cold, aching over my entire body and became very weak. We did what we were told and called Dr. Meline's office (per post-procedure directions given). Well, nobody answered, so we left a message. We never got a call back. I became so ill, that my wife (retired R.N.), drove me to the nearest emergency room. She had to practically carry me in the door as I was so weak. The E.R. professionals immediately put me in a wheel chair, ran all appropriate tests and exams, administered meds etc. Turns out I got aspiration pneumonia for the first time in my life (and as a result, at least 2 new nodules in my lungs) as my lungs had a large amount of acid and bile forced into them. I spent the next 8 hours in E.R. and the next 2 days recovering at the hospital. It would have been nice to hear from Dr. Meline since by now he knew about the colonoscopy that had gone awry. But NO! I called and emailed his office several times and did not once return my messages nor try to get ahold of me. He told his secretary to leave me a message that he had tried several times to get ahold of me via phone and email and that "I" was not being responsive. But guess who did call me and insisted I come in for observation and to make sure I was recovering alright...my own personal physician, who we never even told about the mishap. He found out via the Honor Health system that notifies all of our doctors when there is something unusual that happens to their mutual patient. That was a pleasant surprise. So, even with all this happening and several attempts from me to get ahold of Dr. Meline, his assistant said the only way I could talk to him was to make an appointment. You gotta be kidding me!!! Well, several weeks later (earliest they could get me in), I finally got to talk to Dr. Meline in person. I asked him "what is Standard Operating Procedure" when a colonoscopy goes awry? He vehemently denied anything went wrong; "this type of thing happens all the time", excuse, excuse, excuse. Then I questioned him on why he never tried to call me back. Claims he and office assistant tried to call me once, but the call "didn't go anywhere"...in his words. He tried making excuses like "is your number from out of town, do you have AT&T etc.", to which all answers were no, and I live just down the street. He only cited "one" attempt to reach me, whereas, his assistant, claims he tried "several" and "numerous" times to reach me via phone and email, and that "I" was being unresponsive. I offered to show him my voicemail and email list of received communications (of which he is not on) and that I would like to see his list as well. He said he would look into the details of that day/procedure/why I wasn't retained for observation...but still has not contacted me. During this uneasy discussion, he at one point said "Ok, I screwed up, so sue me"! Wow! If I took my doctor's advice and did sue him, I am confident he would lose the suit. The thing is, I don't care about his (his insurance co's) money, all I wanted from him was an apology (that he didn't keep me for observation after the colonoscopy went awry and for not even trying to get ahold of me afterward). As well, the promise that he will do his best to not take for granted any future patients that he knows have unusual circumstances (or while in his care, develops them) and that he will do his best to no longer be "Negligent by way of Complacency". Found Dr. Meline on Yelp... was a little scared about it, but I cannot say enough positive things about this doctor and his office. From the time I called to make an appointment, phone was answered by a super friendly comforting woman who made me feel assured. Then the communication from the office setting up my account, tele appointment, and procedure appointment was prompt, easy, convenient. Then the tele appointment was amazing! Dr. Meline was right on time, went over everything, was humorous, spent time to answer any questions, I loved this kind of appointment - total respect of my time. Now to the picking up of what I like to call my weight loss kit.. the prep kit or "Sh*%t kit" is offered complete at the doctors office, so convenient and economical. Brilliant idea. The receptionist in Dr. Meline's office was engaging, efficient and thorough. Plus the parking is right outside the office door. Now to my prep... the best prep of my three previous ones. Day of colonoscopy... got to surgical center... walked in, did my paperwork, was called back all within ten minutes; no time for me to read my book, bummer. Haha Loved, loved loved the "staff in the back". Amazingly efficient, friendly, engaging, great communication. Again, everything was on time. Dr. Meline was waiting for me as soon as they wheeled me back... a few questions next thing I know I'm finished and up and Dr. Meline is going over my procedure and results. I saw Dr Meline for my first colonoscopy back in 2006. Though I was due for another 5 yrs later I procrastinated until 2016. By that time I was on a Medicare HMO. My PCP gave me a physician referral and order for a colonoscopy. So in May of 2016 I had my second colonoscopy, performed by another physician. Lately I've experienced some upper GI issues including GERD and a hiatal hernia. At the suggestion of a friend, who highly recommended him, I decided to make an appointment with Dr Meline for an endoscopy. When I called I was shocked to hear the doctor would NOT see me. When I inquired as to why, I was told it was because I'd had another colonoscopy since 2006 and it had been performed by different doctor. Since I hadn't gone back to Dr Meline for that one, it obviously meant I was unhappy with him. Therefore I was no longer welcome at his practice. I tried to explain that my insurance had changed. I was now on Medicare. That I'd I had to find a dr on my HMO plan. That was of no concern to the cold uncaring voice on the other end of the line. So I'm looking for a good gastroenterologist in Scottsdale and am open to suggestions. I'm so disheartened to learn such an unpleasant reality about the medical profession and this doctor in particular. His feelings were hurt so this is my punishment. I have never been treated so horribly by a Doctor. He was rude, judgemental, and just generally obnoxious. Based on other reviews I read here, I made an appointment to see him. I almost got up and walked out in the middle of meeting him. I would never recommend him, and I wouldn't go back. Horrible! I was stunned. This gentleman saved my life, as over the last few years, he has taken care of me, when i needed to have colon resection referring me to Dr. Kasir, and last year, removing a pre cancerous polyp which would have become cancer by now. He encouraged me to have another colonoscopy within a year, and I just did. No polyps and do not have to have it done for 5 yrs. His staff is superb, from the lady who checks you in, to the lady who takes your temperature, to the gentleman who took me back and got me situated for the lady who did the IV, and the anesthesiologists, and then of course, the nurses in recovery. The clinical care at this GI outpatient center was beyond poor this includes the front office staff. There aren't words to explain how bad our experience was under Dr. Daniel Meline. My husband had a scheduled Colonoscopy with Daniel Meline, MD in April, 2016. We arrived early, checked in, and then sat for over an hour. No one approached us on what appeared to be a delay until I approached the front desk. We were informed that Dr. Meline was running over 1-1/2 hours behind! This is a large outpatient facilty with many GI physicians. When I explained that my husband was in need of this procedure and that I furthermore, as his transportation, was traveling in the afternoon with limited options to stay, the front office staff just sat there making no attempts to resolve the problem. My husband was furious and rightly so. No clinical staff member was called to help us. No other physician approached us to resolve the problem. Given the timing presented we would have been at the clinic 5 hours! And I could not stay. Never mess with a patient who has gone through the prep. You are hungry, thirsty, not mention the day before prep. Yet, the staff did nothing. They allowed my husband to leave. We have since lodged a formal complaint with State agencies and other regulatory bodies including our insurance company. We furthermore sent a letter to Dr. Meline and never received a letter back from his office. Nothing. I find the clinic care and patient experience to be lowest I have ever wtinessed. My husband will seek clinical care elsewhere. Neither one of us would recommend this physician to anyone. read more
