I was encouraged by former clients to reach out to Daniel Cota for assistance, as he came highly recommended. Eager to connect, I composed two detailed emails outlining the nature of my request. These emails were prompted by the understanding that Mr. Cota possessed the expertise needed to bring about significant life changes, a hope that was shared by those who directed me to him. In addition to my written inquiries, I took the initiative to call and speak to the front desk. I was assured that my information would be relayed to Mr. Cota and that he would be in touch to discuss my needs. However, two days passed without a response, neither in the form of a phone call nor an email. Intriguingly, others with similar intentions also reached out, and it appears that they faced the same lack of communication. Even the attorney currently involved in the matter seemed to have difficulty reaching Mr. Cota, without receiving any word in return. Today, an another individual made contact. Yet, it turned out that the lawyer declined involvement due to a perceived conflict of interest. no one informed me of this decision on his end. Adding to the confusion, the front desk representative suggested that my message might not have reached Mr. Cota after all because he didn't convey it? Which one is it? This inconsistency raises questions about the reliability of communication within the office. And I genuinely have concerns for anybody who might need these people Throughout this experience, I attempted to engage with Mr. Cota and his team in several ways My efforts were driven by the urgency of the situation and the sensitivity of the population involved, including a mother, and two young children. However, the lack of response or acknowledgement has left me disheartened. The absence of consideration, even in the form of a simple phone call, reflects a disregard for time constraints and the complexities of the cases people like this took an oath around. In seeking assistance for the most vulnerable and I had hoped for a supportive and empathetic response. Regrettably, my interactions with Mr. Cota's office have fallen short of these expectations. It's disappointing to realize that the commitment to caring counsel is not consistent across all practitioners. As a result, I find it difficult to recommend Mr. Cota's services unless one has a personal relationship with him. This review is based on the lack of ability to hear back from this attorney to establish a case. I was referred to this legal practice by Hyatt legal plans. After leaving 7 different messages over a span of one month (2 were with someone answering the phone), I received one call back. I missed that call, returned the call, and still haven't heard back. I'm discontinuing my efforts, as I figured if it's this difficult to reach someone on the front end, how difficult is it to reach the attorney once the case is even opened? Again- just clarifying that this review is based only on the fact that the office was non responsive to efforts to schedule an initial consultation. read more

A few years ago I was pulling out of a Raplh's in LaCanada and didn't notice that my daughter (14 at the time) was still fastening her seat belt. Before I even made it out of the parking lot, one of the local motorcycle cops was on the scene trying to shake me down for a few hundred dollars for a seat belt violation- the price is higher if the violator is under 18. I was unhappy, and meant to go to court to fight it, but somehow managed to forget about setting a date. Fast forward 4 years, and my drivers license is set to expire. Along with my renewal letter, is a note that I can't renew until I take care of what has now become a "failure to appear". You guessed it, the seat belt violation has now snowballed into a bench warrant and potentially a couple thousand dollars. My employer benefits include the Hyatt Legal Plan, a prepaid legal service that I signed up for but had never used. I thumbed through the lawyers offered. A couple were traffic attorneys, but from what I could find in the way of reviews it seemed like they probably negotiated all their cases for some middle ground settlement. I don't know why I chose Daniel Cota to represent me, but I am sure glad I did. From the first call he communicated with me personally. First, he managed to get a court date set (which was not a given when a ticket is as old as mine) which removed the failure to appear from my DMV record so I could renew my license before it expired. As the court date approached, I dreaded the outcome because I still expected to have to pay out some major cash before this was all done. Mr. Cota told me that he would do what he could to fight for me, but even he thought I was going to end up owing $500 or so because of the failure to appear. Imagine my relief when he called me to tell me that the entire matter had been dismissed! I was stunned, and delighted. I just had to come onto yelp to sing his praises! Unlike the "ticket clinic" type lawyers, he actually defended me instead of just bargaining. I never had to go to court, and I ended up with no points, and no penalties! I highly recommend Mr. Cota. I can't say he will always get this great of an outcome for his clients, but I can say from experience that he will sincerely try to win his case... I found Mr Cota through my ARAG legal insurance plan through University of California to defend a ridiculous "excessive use of horn ticket". The cop never showed up so my ticket was dismissed but what I most appreciated about Daniel was his professionalism, his prompt communication with me via email, and his prompt and professional appearance in court. He also took the time to discuss with me my defense and strategy before we went into court in case the cop showed up. He asked "what city did you get married in and where do you currently live?", and I said "Inglewood". He then said "hold on a second" and the phone line cut off. I tried calling back but he didn't answer so I left a voicemail asking him to call back because the line cut off. I got caught in a speed trap near an onramp to the 5 south freeway, and thought to use my employee Hyatt legal plan instead of paying the ticket outright. I read an article on how many speed traps may not be enforceable if a traffic survey of the area is not up to date. Anyhow, not sure exactly how it was won, but Daniel Cota represented me and went to court for me twice, and my case was dismissed with no points or penalties! So in the end I paid a minimal court parking fee for LA county and didn't pay the requested $240 bail! He had to go to court first to request discovery, and second for the actual trial time. He was very professional and kept in good communication with me by email, phone and regular mail. I highly recommend him and will go to him again if ever needed! read more
