I have to say that this was my best doctor visit ever…read more Dr. Marcus showed compassion, attentiveness, and willingness to help. He spent a great deal of time listening to my concerns in order to understand my condition. He also asked me a lot of follow up questions to pinpoint the root causes of my condition. He then explained to me, clearly, a therapeutic approach that includes lifestyle modifications and alternative options of treatments. He very well acknowledged my preferences of treatment options and tailored my treatment towards that. He finally advised me to see him again after a week to evaluate my initial response to the medicine. I really appreciate the whole-person approach that Dr. Marcus has used with me. I, therefore, highly recommend Dr. Marcus for anyone who struggles with a mental or psychological issue. You will thank me later. Day of visit: August 8, 2023 Sincerely, K. A.

My son and I were told that he needed to be seen in the office in order for him to have his Concerta refilled. (Most appts are virtual). When the appointment started it was obvious that Jeffrey had not reviewed his file before we arrived, despite having his neuropsych report on record since March. When my son responded to his questions with brief answers, completely normal for a teenager with ADHD and dyslexia in an unfamiliar, high-pressure setting, he was shamed for it. Jeffrey responded "If you're not going to talk, there is nothing I can do to help you," and threatened to withhold his medication if he didn't respond differently. He is a child. He did not walk in thinking anything was wrong with him. However, Jeffrey made him feel like something was by his tone and lack of empathy. When I stepped in and suggested that open-ended questions are difficult for my son and asked that he tried asking more specific questions, he told me "I am not the type of person to pull information out of someone." Adapting your approach to meet a minor with a documented learning difference is not optional -- it is the job. It is basic clinical care. It was only after I advocated for him that he even opened his file, again a file that had been sitting in his office for months. The session ended feeling rushed, with medication recommendations made without adequate time for discussion. No family should leave a psychiatrist office feeling the way we did. No teenager should be made to feel broken because a provider couldn't be bothered to prepare. We will not be returning, and I hope this protects other families.
