The woman in charge has really helped both my boys learn a lot. They've become more social and know how to interact with other children (sharing, taking turns, etc.). She worked with me and helped my 2yr old with potting training, which I think is a plus. He also knows the colors, numbers, alphabets, and more. She really works with the children and teaches them new skills. In the summer time, they take trips to the park. So they aren't always stuck in the house. Everyday is a lesson and my boys have reported have a good day every day that they have attended and attend now. Overall I am satisfied with this daycare and would recommend it to other parents, especially those in the neighborhood.

The director told me "give us a month and everything will change" It really did! my son just loves it there and he flourished dramatically within his first month. They care immensely for the children esp Corrie the director. She treats each and everyone of the kids there like family. My son's teachers Ms. Nicole, Ms. Kelly, Ms. Michelle were lovely professionals. From a boy who doesn't even want to get out of the car as soon as we park there to a happy toddler who wakes up excited to go to school rushes out of the car to run to his classroom it was just a miracle for us to see him grow this much. My friend refered me to this school and I can not speak highly enough of it. Within the first week they noticed my sons gifts, and strengths and encouraged me to develop them. They also warned me when his behavior changed and he was acting up. They teach children on a full level ahead so as a 3 year old they were teaching them on a 4 year old level. They wanted the children to be PREPARED to graduate from their school. Their programs were truly excellent and christian based not indoctrination but introduction and structure, including wearing uniforms. They taught the children so much about black history I was astonished and proud to have these principals introduced to him in such a loving way. This is an excellent school and I strongly recommend it to anyone.

But seriously - it was and I believe still run by Reverend Davis and his wife... I am a West Indian child (Trinidadian)..and was raised very strictly by my mum....and it was strongly enforced here.... I was writing cursive at the age of 4 ( I believe Ms. Walcott taught me)... and was very advanced due to my schooling here... and also from the extra work I was given at home....The Christian Learning Center scheduled me for advanced tests at the local elementary school - PS 235 - and I went straight into their "Soar Program" for the first/second/third grades.. (no kindergarten for me).... from there on...I entered the "Eagle" program at my other elementary school.... "Magnet" program for Junior High. and onto Advanced Placement classes in High School and of course continued on with college. I truly do owe my education to the start I was given at the Christian Learning Center... and I am still in contact with many of my classmates from here as we all stayed in Brooklyn - all very fine individuals that they have grown up to be. This school was so good - that my older brother sent my 2 nieces there (they are now aged -15/16) - both in accelerated programs in their respective schools. I do firmly believe that where you start has a strong effect on your life.... I have very fond memories of the Christian Learning Center...and I'm thrilled that they are still in business. And might I add - this is not simply a daycare - it is a SCHOOL. I had homework....and I remember working on multiple projects throughout the day....not just play. I do hope they are still the way I remember them to be. I even remember our cook - Mr Timothy.... he made the best cream of wheat in the mornings....lol..... and our lunches were home cooked food! No chicken nugget/french fries crap..... PS - Don't tell Reverend Davis that I got my first kiss on a cheek from a boy in his office.....lol... (and I'm still friends with that boy too! hmmph! hahaha) I would not hesitate to recommend them to any parent.

From day one the entire staff made us feel safe and welcomed us with open arms. Our child has developed wonderful relationships with his classmates and teachers these last few months. Classrooms have one lead and two assistant teachers - the environment is very intimate and close knit. There is structure, yet the children are encouraged to rotate activities at their will. Lots of group and individual reading - such an important habit to develop at an early age. The children are also assigned "jobs" for the week- our son raves about how well he is as the "line counter" The children visit Tompkins Square Park for daily outdoor playtime, weather permitting of course. Parents receive weekly newsletters dedicated to the recent learning and happenings in the classroom - we love these since it gives us a closer look at the projects the kids have worked on and what to expect for the following week. An applause to the chef who is always leaving a mark - our child loves the cous cous (recipes are shared throughout the year). Parents are given a lunch calendar. The opportunity to join a council and team up with staff is great as well. Reiterating how much they value family involvement in the classroom. The leadership at BSHS is astonishing, Director Willis is always communicating with families - no matter the time of day or night. She masterfully manages all operations for BSHS. My son had the best time of his life at this school…read more He had it very rough during the first few MONTHS of school. He cried and cried and cried every morning, everyday for three or four months of school. His teachers, Terry and TA-Joanne were patient, caring and understanding. Their everlasting efforts of trying to gain his trust had finally paid off and I had never felt so grateful on the day that my son waved good bye to me and told me he loved going to school. The school had a great staff. The teachers are college graduates and TA are all professionally trained to care and assist within the classroom. Every morning, children were allowed to explore and "play" with any activities of their choice. The only rule is you must clean up after yourself. Their morning activities includes art and craft, play dough, dramatic play area, blocks, puzzle, or simply being read to. When the weather permits, the children were allowed to go outside the secure area of the building for 45 minutes of physical exercise Monthly sing-along where parents are invited to attend with their children. Most importantly, they have awesome extra activities such as children yoga. Students also visit the Third Street Music school in the East Village regularly for sing-along, music appreciation, and group activities. Food is cooked and prepared on premises by staffs that are licensed by NYC DOHMH where they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use fresh, and healthy ingredients to cook for our children. During the summer, they shop at the Farmer's Market to get low-price organic fruits and vegetables. Academically, they encourage children to learn through play which I also believe is the best way for children to learn. Children are being read to everyday to encourage and to establish the love for reading. And I can't believe I almost forget to mention those field trips to the farm, different museum, Highland Park, puppet shows and much more. Today my child is a sweaty but confident little boy who loves to read, play legos, and wanted to become a robotic engineer when he grows up.
