They also warned me when his behavior changed and he was acting up. They teach children on a full level ahead so as a 3 year old they were teaching them on a 4 year old level. They wanted the children to be PREPARED to graduate from their school. Their programs were truly excellent and christian based not indoctrination but introduction and structure, including wearing uniforms. They taught the children so much about black history I was astonished and proud to have these principals introduced to him in such a loving way. This is an excellent school and I strongly recommend it to anyone.

But seriously - it was and I believe still run by Reverend Davis and his wife... I am a West Indian child (Trinidadian)..and was raised very strictly by my mum....and it was strongly enforced here.... I was writing cursive at the age of 4 ( I believe Ms. Walcott taught me)... and was very advanced due to my schooling here... and also from the extra work I was given at home....The Christian Learning Center scheduled me for advanced tests at the local elementary school - PS 235 - and I went straight into their "Soar Program" for the first/second/third grades.. (no kindergarten for me).... from there on...I entered the "Eagle" program at my other elementary school.... "Magnet" program for Junior High. and onto Advanced Placement classes in High School and of course continued on with college. I truly do owe my education to the start I was given at the Christian Learning Center... and I am still in contact with many of my classmates from here as we all stayed in Brooklyn - all very fine individuals that they have grown up to be. This school was so good - that my older brother sent my 2 nieces there (they are now aged -15/16) - both in accelerated programs in their respective schools. I do firmly believe that where you start has a strong effect on your life.... I have very fond memories of the Christian Learning Center...and I'm thrilled that they are still in business. And might I add - this is not simply a daycare - it is a SCHOOL. I had homework....and I remember working on multiple projects throughout the day....not just play. I do hope they are still the way I remember them to be. I even remember our cook - Mr Timothy.... he made the best cream of wheat in the mornings....lol..... and our lunches were home cooked food! No chicken nugget/french fries crap..... PS - Don't tell Reverend Davis that I got my first kiss on a cheek from a boy in his office.....lol... (and I'm still friends with that boy too! hmmph! hahaha) I would not hesitate to recommend them to any parent.

This has truly been more than just a school for her--it has been like a second home. The administration is incredibly supportive and always available to help, making the entire experience smooth and reassuring for parents. The teachers are absolutely amazing--caring, patient, and dedicated. My daughter adores them and speaks about them with so much love and excitement. She has grown tremendously, both academically and socially, during her time here. She has made wonderful friends and developed essential social skills that will benefit her for years to come. One of the things I love most about The Learning Experience is the amazing curriculum. She has learned so much--phonics, numbers, community events, philanthropy, and even manners. They incorporate so many fun and engaging activities, such as book fairs, pajama days, pizza parties, dress-up days, and spirit weeks, making learning exciting and enjoyable. The teachers I encountered have no compassion or professionalism. The after 5pm teacher confronted me in the middle of class in front of the other children and teacher about why my daughter didn't follow instructions. Please note I have never met this teacher, she did not introduce herself to me and my child shouldn't have been in that classroom to begin with because arrived at 4:45pm, the children are moved here after from 5pm-6pm for pickup. The director encouraged me to have my child Evaluated by her doctor because she doesn't make eye contact with her (keep in mind she spent little time with my daughter because she was filling in for one of the teachers assigned to my daughter class who left early because she was sick) am not someone that can not take criticism or feedback about their child, but I find it extremely egregious to only spend 2 days with a child who is also 2 years old in a new environment with new people and classmates and suggest that there is something medically wrong with them. My daughter was given no acclamation period and no sympathy. I emailed them a notice to withdraw and never heard back from them. The app they use was not updated accurately, there were pictures posted on my daughters profile that did not include her in the picture. I wasn't notified that she peed on herself or that she didn't eat her lunch. The tour I was given was false advertisement and I would not suggest enrolling your kids here.

I just found out he missed "career" day because he didn't have his homework book back in April, a book that i paid for in the beginning of the school year. When asked for my security deposit in July, because I feel that the school dropped the ball, the owner tried to convince herself that my son knows his continents and the state he leaves in. Ladies and gentlemen that is all she takes pride in. When asked my four year old what state he leaves in, he can't answer. I can go on and on about what is wrong with this school, the people who referred me to this school withdraw their kids the same year that my son got in, for the same complaints, but I tried to give them another tried boy I was wrong, it cost me BIG TIME.

In the 90 days we were enrolled, the concerns raised often felt excessive and out of proportion for a typical four-year-old. During his time there, our son was subjected to bullying and unkind behavior from classmates, which was not adequately addressed. He experienced daily emotional meltdowns, asked to be picked him up early every day, and grew to hate going to school altogether. He expressed feeling that the administration and staff did not like him, which was heartbreaking to hear from a child so young. Communication with us was overwhelmingly negative. Not once did a staff member share something positive about our son, despite him being described by multiple childcare professionals we trust as exhibiting entirely age-appropriate behavior. We received near-daily reports of issues that felt outlandish and unnecessarily alarming. Additionally, very few staff members used positive reinforcement or supportive intonation when speaking to him. Class sizes were extremely large, up to 25 children in his class! Perhaps most troubling was the inconsistency and insensitivity in communication. While staff spoke one way to us in person, they sent urgent-toned emails about our son during two major life events for our family, including one email sent just two days before our wedding, framing matters as emergencies when they were not. Early childhood education should be rooted in patience, compassion, and developmental understanding. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this location.

If there are any conflicts among the children they let you know at pick-up. They cater a hot lunch from a local Russian deli, which includes a soup, protein and vegetable. Far easier than sending your own lunch, and far healthier than any other daycare I visited - no chicken fingers and fries here. They are open later than most; follow a classroom environment with lesson plans for even the youngest class; great helping with potty training; get the kids outside every day (weather permitting); plan fun fieldtrips in the summer. The only drawback is the older facility, but there has been updates to A/C units, new flooring, etc., and they do have entrance security. If we had a third, we would not hesitate to send them to AdventureLand.

All the teachers looked happy and the kids looked happy as well. I loved the fact that they have four classrooms, a separate lunchroom, and a separate auditorium. Mark of Excellence is open all year round with a couple of days off (major holidays ect..) and does not hike up the rates in the summer. I toured other pre-k facilities and was shocked to find everything was done in one room. It has been two years and my son is doing great. He has learned so much and loves his teachers. I know he will be ready for kindergarten in the fall and in some areas be advanced. I always check the meal calendar and know that he will receive a healthy and balanced breakfast, lunch, and snacks. I placed my son's name on the list when he was 2 1/2. I hear now spaces fill up quick.

It's amazing to see him progress into a young boy that is talking more and enjoys learning. He was struggling with potty training initially but has been getting it together last year and the amount of wet bags I had to take home with me has diminished. I can't speak for all teachers the ones he had so far has been great. Currently, his teacher is amazing! She is caring and the things she does for the kids (activities, lesson plans, projects) are very engaging. He gets homework approximately twice a week. They have interesting day trips for the kids (parents are welcome always but if your child is "active" or too young, they do require the parent to be there (which is good; safety is their top concern). If you have babies younger than two, they are very clean and shoes aren't allowed at a certain point (I seen with my own eyes) and the teachers for the nursery are very caring. They have the custodial staff that cleans EVERYDAY. I know the feeling of stressing when you initially put your child in daycare but this one is top-notch. I am picky a$ hell, lol. Babies over two are 150 per week; younger than two is approximately 260 per week but prices can change. They do not take ACS vouchers as of now but they are hoping that will change in the near future; they are either private pay or if you are on public assistance, low-income families are eligible to receive HRA vouchers for child care. Call them!
