My fiancé purchased from this Daniel's a few months back and the initial experience was good. The lady was pleasant and helpful to him. But once a purchase was made, her demeanor changed and we became nothing but a mere number. We went back to get the rings sized properly and we did not get her full attention, it felt very rushed when I was figuring out my size. They also promised a "free gift" with the purchase he made but told him they would rain check it due to no stock. We went back two other times to get the gift he was offered and the lady barely checked two cabinets and then didn't say anything about it to us until we awkwardly asked again. They stated NEXT time when you pick up the rings, we will have the free gift. We drop off the rings and she told us to show up at the same time of day as drop off which was around 5pm so we show up and they state it will be ready at 6pm. We waste time walking around the mall and return at 6pm for them to say "the jeweler is running behind so it's not ready, come back at 6:30pm". Finally, we get the call at 7:15ish that the rings are ready for pickup. We ask about the gift (valued at $200) and once again they state they don't have it but offer a gift card (valued at $50) which says it is expired after looking at it now. The rings are beautiful and the sizing is great so their jeweler is wonderful but the ladies working the floor make you feel very unimportant. What's supposed to be an exciting moment for a couple getting engaged became uncomfortable fast. We couldn't wait to get the rings and never return to this store. The customer service here is terrible. I work in customer service and I know how important it is to a business. This place needs a training course in customer service for their ladies or an attitude adjustment. Majority of them are on their phones and don't bother greeting you. Very unprofessional. Had been going to this store for last 10 years and had an issue with getting three Christmas gifts returned. Had to return to the store 3 times to get it resolved, instead of just one time (on the third time the store manager got it resolved and so we re again happy customers). Of course it would've been nice to get it resolved the first time. But the manager there (who has been there for years) knows how to make these things work out (wasn't necessarily their fault -- it was more the computer systems and links to their finance companies that made the problem for exchanges/returns). My experience here could have been better. The representative who "helped" me wasn't that friendly, she didn't seem to care if I purchased or not. They had a BOGO sale and they were also giving out gifts for your purchase, which I wasn't aware of because the rep didn't care to explain anything to me. It wasn't until I left that I realized that they had these perks. A week later I had to exchange my purchase, so I decided to go to a different location where I was greeted so much better, they even gave me a gift card for $50 and a bracelet, which they explained should have been given to me at the time of my purchase, and they apologized for the way my transaction was handled and helped me with my new purchase. My fiancee bought my ring at the El Cajon store. When we walked in to get the ring sized the sales ladies were so friendly and offered us some cake, I think it was their anniversary so they had a big sales event going on. After about an hour I got my ring back and it was so shiny like the first day I got it. I also checked the Daniels in Mira Mesa for my fiancees ring. Theresa greeted me and asked me what I came in for. I told her and she helped me pick out a wedding band for both of us. Theresa wrote it down for me so that I could come back with my fiancee. She was not pushy or overselling and told me that the sale starts before the fourth of July. I will be sure to check it out this weekend and see if I can get a better quote. read more

I went there yesterday to return a gift because my wife didn't like it and she didn't even touch it. I received there holiday sale booklet so I decided to see what they had. I went to the location in Parkway plaza. I really don't like Parkway Plaza. It's probably the only mall where people are walking around in there p.j's with there hair half done and slippers on! lol. That's out of the way, lets move on.... I walked into the store around 6pm. I was not attacked by a sales person,,,, 1 star. I walked around and forgot why I was there, I was looking for something for my son,,,,but then I was looking for myself,,,lol. At this point Lauren S. walks up to assist me. I inform her that I am looking for a watch for my son. She takes me over to the watches and then asked me questions about what I'm looking for in a watch etc,,,,. I choose a very nice watch and we walk over and discuss payment. I decided to apply for credit. After a 30 minute wait I am approved. So we finish the sale and then I am given a gift card for later purchases,,,,lol. Yup you got it! I bought something for myself to, but with cash. I have been a Zales person all my life. I put up with there snotty attitude, long waits, ignoring me all together. I will never buy from this place again. Everything was marked "60% off" so as advertised I assumed it was a great sale. We purchased a diamond ring for $16K again"60% off" Judy told us if we don't like it we can return it in 10 days for a full refund or 30 days for an exchange. So, immediately after buying it, we got it appraised by multiple places and the appraisals were only worth $10k. We came back to return the ring, to get something actually worth what we paid and Judy said "sorry, no refunds on clearance, the appraisals are wrong. Your ring is worth almost $30k". Obviously it's not lol. I spoke to a manager and she had the same attitude and we pretty much got screwed. My fault for not doing more research on a bigger purchase but this store is full of liars and scammers and I will never buy from them again and I plan on telling everyone not to go here! :) read more

Honestly it felt as if she was only looking to make a sale regardless of if I liked it or not. Why only 2 stars? They don't offer any online payments and require you to walk into the store to pay or offer a third party payment system that charges you $10 to use! The times have changed DANIEL'S yeah that means you. Time to stop using the old grandfather methods and start offering your customers online bill pay with no service charge! I can't think of any other places that don't offer online payments. People nowadays have busy lives and schedules and not being able to make it to the store before the payment is due is inconvenient. If I could rate Daniels customer service with a negative 5 I would. Stephanie being one of the supervisors 310-665-2170 has the worst interpersonal communication skills I have ever dealt with. The employees answer my phone call, when I request help with a situation where I paid off my balance early, I continued to get charged interest and late fees for every subsequent month that my bank and corporate Daniels took to fix my situation. The minimum wage used car sales mentality that these people have is unbearable.They blacklisted my number and now when I call, they hang up on me or transfer my phone call to Stephanie; who is extremely rude and low in character. Unfortunately, I will NEVER BUY FROM DANIELS JEWELERS again because of the horrible experience I had with there administration and customer service. read more

My husband first bought my engagement ring here 5 years ago. I bought his wedding ring there as well, 3 years ago. Today we went back because we both needed our rings sized. My "diamond registry" had expired a year and a half ago, but they still allowed me to renew it ($325). This allowed me to get it sized for free & rhodium dipped for free (and continue to get it free for the next 3 years)! They are also going to replace my husband's ring because his can't be sized. All with a smile on her face, and no hassle at all! I've also been in multiple times to have my ring cleaned and it's always fast and free. I will keep going back!! :) read more

Stopped at Zales to open a charge account..was denied. Walked into Daniels - explained the situation. Filled out an application for credit - 10 minutes later I was approved. I bought a small piece of jewelry to get the account working, Received a free gift. The staff was amazing and helpful. My credit score has already moved up. Great store..friendly people. Good prices. I bought a nice ring from Daniel's Jewelers about a year and half ago. They asked if I wanted to buy insurance for the ring. After a min of thinking about it I said yes, you never know when you will need it. I paid the ring off in March. Here it is August. Guess what the insurance was not for the ring (they don't even have an insurance department) instead I insured that I would make my payments. PAYMENTS not the ring. So now that my ring has been stolen it's not covered by insurance. The lady on the phone said the only thing they can do is talk to the person that opened up my account and let them know that is not how the insurance works. So here I am $2000 down because they weren't clear on the insurance policy when I purchased the ring. Oh and when you call the HQ for Daniel's Jewelers they can't give you any information because they don't actually have documentation of your purchase such as the contract you have to sign or payments you made. You have to go to the original location for a copy of that information. Don't buy the insurance from this place it is a SCAM!!!!!!!! read more

I did not like my experience with Daniel's Jewelers. I went in and spoke to two women. They told me I needed to always carry my receipt as proof. I do not see why I need to carry my receipt as proof as purchase to get my ring resized. They came up with multiple excuses of why it wasn't in the system. All their excuses were idiotic. By making a purchase, it should be in their system. That's it. Period. But the excuses I got where that maybe I paid by cash, maybe it's because I used Synchrony Bank to pay it off, maybe I didn't make the purchase there and was confused, maybe it was over the warranty length that I had purchase, maybe I never purchased the warranty. None make sense. There is no excuse for a purchase to not be in the system, especially when I had one ring resized without a problem 4 months ago and without needing a receipt in the first place. Plus rings both were purchased same day. I understand that they felt the need to defend themselves for not being able to find it in the system. However there is a different between admitting something might have happened to their system, a complication or hiccup on their end, and it's another thing to blame the customer and gives numerous of excuses. I went back the next day with proof and I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND SHIREEN. She was patient, explained that sometimes the system has problems attaching the purchase to the account, and even apologized. She even added the information into the account and system to assure it would be there in case I needed to come back for any reason. She was so sweet and helpful. Please be very aware of the used car sales ,bait and switch mentality of the staff that runs this store. I bought a piece of jewerly for my wife for Christmas. Unfortunately she did not like it. No big deal, until I brought the item back for a return. I understood that there was a 10 day money back or 30 day exchange. I brought the item 1 day after the 10 day due date to being out on town and sick in bed with a nasty cold which I still have as I'm writing this, I explained the situation and the store would not budge. I run my own business with over 200 customers and if a customer asked that of me and the item was 100% perfect I would want to keep that customer happy and offer an exception. Not with Daniels. Not only would the manager not speak to me about this they also preceded to tell me that because I bought the item on a discount sale (which I never do) they also could not give me a full refund. Of course this contradicts the person that at the time of sale told me that the company policy is for both normal or discounted sales. I will do what ever I can do make sure non of my friends or relatives ever shop at these stores again. And for the piece of jewelry I now have spent over $1000. 100% dissatisfied with this store! Will never shop here again. I'm normally a Kay's customer, but they didn't have what I wanted on sale. Daniels had a really good price on exactly what I was looking for! The only thing was it was a one day sale so I didn't really have the option to take my time, I had to rush in there before work. I thought it was strange that this item wasn't even on display for this one day sale, they had to go search in the back for it. It came out dirty. Within no time at all the clerk is asking if I want to apply for financing, before I even had a chance to show it to who I was with. Eventually when I decide that I do in fact want to buy it, then I ask to apply for the financing. She asks how much I'm able to pay upfront. I say $50. The item is priced at $279 so that's almost a 20% payment. After 20 or more minutes she comes back and says that's not enough, can you do $125? Shocked at how much that went up, I say ok. But thinking Why even bother to ask me in the first place. After another 30 minutes of waiting, she comes back and says, that's not enough, they want $190! Seriously??? That's almost 70% what's the point of financing???? I agree to it but ask why so much? Is that standard or is it because of my credit or what? She couldn't give me an answer. I tried asking again later, still never got an answer. I also asked how much of a credit I was approved for, couldn't get an answer to that either! She then asks if I want to get anything else?? Um no! If it weren't for that "one day sale" I would of said screw you and went somewhere else! But since I had to work I didn't have time to shop around. Yes I got what I wanted but never felt like they had any interest in customer service or making me happy, just wanted my money. Oh and I got a free gift! Some cheap plastic with glued on plastic rhinestones, like 99 cent store jewelry! Lol just seemed like a very amateur business. Oh and when they did my employment verification I gave them the corporate number because that's who has to do that. Well come to find out they don't say anything about employment verification, they just ask if so and so is there. So corporate says nobody with name is here. Now I would say big chain jewelry stores shouldn't receive high marks normally but this place is pretty good by comparison to mom&pop places except for the customer service and ultimate cost. The location, while being in a mall, is not a convenient mall to get in and out of. The customer service was above average - attentive and polite but lacked general courtesy and professionalism and bordering unintelligent or scammy (couldn't tell which during the process as the results were the same either way). We walk into this place to get my engagement ring fitted properly (supposedly when the fiance bought the ring, not being a connoisseur of ring sizing as he's just a regular dude, they did not instruct him on how to properly fit the ring for someone else, so he ended up taking a wild, and very incorrect guess....thus causing a second trip in to getting fitted correctly and not being able to put on the ring during the proposal....bad eggs). They proceed to tell him it would cost an extra couple hundred bucks (on a ring that costs a few hundred to begin with) to add the gold to make the ring bigger, something that could have been circumvented had when he originally bought the ring, been advised to go big or go home to avoid the extra cost. Because of this it makes the place seem like a total scam. And I suspect all the chain stores do this, which places this location below par in my book. It also took them a week to have them do it, something I know from personal experience should never be....I've had rings up-sized same day before. At the end of the day, my poor guy left feeling hoodwinked and stupefied by the experience. Needless to say we would never go back, even if the jewelry is cheap (which its really not in the long run, its pretty mediocre quality so you get what you pay for, if you get the right sizing)....if it has to change its size, expect to pay more than double for your jewelry or research the need to knows before entering the place. I guess it would be an ok spot to come and get bracelets and necklaces...but guys (and girls) before you get rings....and before coming here...do your research first or expect to get more than you bargained for. And to those customer service folks in jewelry stores, don't be scummy, know your customers may not know how to shop for rings and prevent them from making expensive mistakes to begin with....exercise a little good judgment on that one. That's how you retain customers and have them come back for more of your shinies. So for its location, lack of customer service and underlying cost, it receives at best 2 stars. read more
