Got accused of stealing. Went in the back to look at some toys, we browsed for a few minutes and when i picked up a toy and looked at it, a worker came out asking if me and partner were of age (we are) she then told us, aggressively, that we need ID to even look around, we didnt have our ID because we didnt think we needed it, so we complied and left to the front to look at their clothes, the employee (short, glasses, looks Hispanic) the says "they were stealing" out of the blue. We got upset (like anyone should) and left the store entirely, not one of us has stole and will not be going back to the store ever again, i have also seen people way younger buy their toys so it felt like we were picked on specifically. read more

And not once, but, BOTH times I was here, they were dealing with some teenage fuck shit. I'm talking having to escort people out level. These people that work here are HUMAN. Yesterday my 13 year old son went into this business to buy T shirts,what he told me via a text message had his mom and I arrive to the location ASAP. HE a minor,was allowed into the back part of this business where SEX TOYS are sold !!! I went in to return a lava lamp, I didn't have to explain to the worker that I brought it back because the glass part came scratched and that I don't like buying things that are already scratched/damaged before I can use it, but I did. He seemed kind and did the return without any problem. I then circled around because I wanted to shop around a bit and I walked past him as he started talking badly to a coworker about me returning it. I didn't catch everything that he said but I know it wasn't kind. I like this store but won't be coming back to this one. No one likes a thief. I went in on the morning of Sunday 02/11 and bought a gift for my Valentine. When I was checking out the brunette girl cashier asked me if I would rather have cleaning cloths or cleaning liquid to clean the gift. Since she asked me what I would like, I assumed it came with the purchase. She never made me aware it was an optional extra cost. Come to find out, it did not come with the purchase and she charged me $5.99 for an item I never wanted to begin with. Very unethical sales tactic. I will never be back. read more

Place rocks and Emmit is the best it just really sucks that kids like to ruin the experience for the workers and the other costumers in the store. There are young kids just left to roam the mall and with no supervision. There were kids in here that were disturbing the work place with no parents with them while they steal and rummage though everything. The associates can only do so much. People need to manage their children and worry about what their doing instead of coming for an ADULT STORE with their own protocols. There's a reason for everything. But let me just start out by suggesting that future reviews refrain from complaining about the mall, or kids, or blaming others for your lack of parenting skills (if your underage kid wanders in to this kind of store, that's on you - it's YOUR job to supervise your children, not the employees job. They have a job to do and it's not babysitting.) and actually review the STORE. If you go in the store and are somehow scandalized, pay attention to where you are going and go somewhere that is more your speed. Back to the actual review, which is about the STORE. Spencer's has always had such fun and funky stuff. Prank gifts, lava lamps, shot glasses, accessories for the mystical, tarot cards. You can absolutely get your alternative spirituality knick-knacks and jewelry here! And not that New Age fluffy stuff. If you want something a little hard core like inverted pentagrams, Baphomet, and skull jewelry this is the place! Spiked bracelets and belts.... alien ear rings. Pop Culture backpacks.. It's just a treasure trove for alternative goodies. And there is always the buy 2 get one free deal on jewelry! There are alternative T-shirts galore, all kinds of Pop Culture and movie related goods. It's kind of like a more hard-core version of Hot Topic. And yes, there is an Adult section in the back and that's why you should supervise your children and practice responsible parenting skills. It's nobody's fault but yours if you let your kids roam freely because you are too busy doing your own shopping agenda. My one and only complaint is that t-shirt sizes don't run to plus size and mostly go only up to XL. Plus size people are hip too! But to be fair that is on the vendors and the suppliers and what they make, not the store. There is some plus size lingerie in the back half of the store tho! And yes sometimes the employees are busy doing tasks away from the register, aren't paying too much attention to customers, or maybe even frittering the time away chit chatting- because this is a fun, non-serious type of job and usually young people work in stores like this to have an "easy" job vibe.
