Great jerky is the fabric of any road trip. I learned this as a young boy growing up in San Francisco and taking many trips to LA, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas with my parents. You gotta have beef jerky. And you gotta have the good kind. In preparing for my first drive from LA to Phoenix, I had read that Quartzsite is a great place to stop and get gas because their gas prices are significantly cheaper if you're coming from the California side. Sure enough it was. Daniel's is located next to the Mobil/Burger King gas station right off the exit. There is plenty of parking in their lot. You walk in and you are greeted kindly by the people at the counter. You have some sodas to the right, a wall of hot sauce straight ahead, dried fruit and candies in the middle of the store and a huge wall and a half of jerky in all its glory. You can sample the different kinds of jerky to the right of the cash register. Someone from Daniel's staff is more than willing to serve up the samples for you. Dried fruit samples are also available. I tried the sweet garlic beef and it was great. A little sweetness and a good garlic and pepper kick at the end. I also got honey teriyaki beef, cowboy and peppered beef. They are good but my favorites may have to be cowboy (best seller) and honey teriyaki. 2 totally different flavors. The honey teriyaki is sweet and golden. Great sweet flavor. The cowboy has no sugar and is an old fashion style salt & pepper beef jerky flavor. It was perfect. They are $8 each or 3 for $22. Great customer service (especially the lady that helped us this past Sunday) and great jerky. Cant ask for a better road trip stop. We stopped once on the way to Phoenix and stopped again on the way back to LA. That should tell you something. read more

I've seen the signs for this place for as long as I can remember, but didn't make the effort to stop until a few years ago. After 3 or 4 visits on my return trip to LA, I can easily say that they have some of the best beef jerky in the world. It's not cheap (3 bags for $27), but you get the quality you'd expect for that price. The staff is super friendly and they almost push samples on you and encourage you to try a whole slew of different flavors, and IMHO that's awesome. It's not an accident that they have something like 50 different options...if you're taking the time to stop at this place, take advantage of how much effort and thought they put in to their different offerings. My recommendation is to get 1 classic, 1 "personal favorite," and one wild card. The Cowboy Beef is kind of their overall bestseller, so get that. Then get 1 flavor that caters to your preferences (I like Sriracha, so that's easy). Then make your 3rd bag something you'd never think of after sampling some of the more out there stuff they have. I try to come to the really good jerky place on my way home to Cali. They have good jerky obviously but it is more than just that. They also sale a variety of different snacks like trail mix, chocolate, speciality drinks, and bugs. They literally sale freeze dry bugs right next to the cash register. Besides purchasing really good jerky you can take home bugs to eat as well. That is really convenient for the more adventurous eater. It's also a good thing that they let you try an assortment of different jerky. I tried the elk jerky and it was very tasty. I had to buy it. Seem like a cool place to stop until it wasn't. Just walking in noticed all the signs on the door and inside makes you feel you like not walking in. As I was shopping to get beef jerky the owners where watching over me as I shopped. I wasn't even greeted when I entered but other people and family did. As far and the owner being rude while I was trying to ask questions I couldn't help feel I was the only one receiving the attitude. Couldn't help feel out of place as a visitor and feel like I was racially profiled. I will never stop here again or recommend this place to anyone. this was my first experience and encounter being at the store with a shame. read more

You have to stop here!!! They literally have ALL kinds of jerky, from smoked brisket, sweet and sour, BBQ, and one that said colon cleaner. Lol true story. The brisket was awesome. What a find. Off the Quartzite I1-0 exit we stumbled upon this place. I gotta admit, I was skeptical. However, we were next door at the Mobil Mart and we asked the cashiers if the place was good. One of them, a former employee, told us the jerky was really good as was the candy. Now I love a good bag of jerky but I've never had jerky as fresh as this place. This was an impulse stop. After seeing the dozen billboard on the side of the freeway, I suspect that this place puts all its money into advertising which would explain the high prices. If I was the owner I would think about opening up another location or something instead. Its a small shop that has plenty of other dried goods other than the variety of meat jerky. I say meat jerky because other than beef you will find meat such as buffalo and pork! I loved their hot and spicy jerky, it has a slightly sweet flavor, but personally not spicy enough (I took the shop keeper's warnings too seriously). Getting gas across the street my friend actually went back a second time after trying some of my dehydrated vegetable mix. Its crunchy, colorful and exceeded our expectations. Another favorite picked out by the vegetarian in our group was the seasoned party mix, the spices they use are addicting! I come here all the time when traveling from CA to AZ and vise versa. This place is amazing. They have so many cool things and so many options of everything. My FAVORITE is the peanut brittle. It's $7 bucks for the tiniest bag but I'm not going to lie to you... I'd probably pay $20 for this tiny little thing. It's so freaking good. I'm not a big Jerkey person but I did have some. It was soft and not chewy like most jerky. This seemed fresh. There are a bunch of flavors for the jerkey. I've had the chocolate covered peanuts which are also great. I've had the carmels which are very good. AGAIN!!! You must try the peanut brittle. Now as much as I love this place I'm giving them 4 stars because you can't order the peanut brittle online. No biggie and im sure they have a reason for that. My problem is that I emailed the website twice already asking why and wanting to order other things and i haven't received a response. As mentioned in the other reviews, this store is right off the I-10, next to your typical stop area to get gas and a quick bite to eat at a fast food joint. I was a little skeptical at first. How fresh can jerky be from a place in the middle of the desert?! But since I use to eat jerky a lot, I thought to myself, I've had real bad jerky before. But I'm glad I decided to stop in. The store is very clean and organized. In the far left wall are all their selections of jerky. About 24 different types to choose from! Choose from original beef to Buffalo to Alligator to Salmon. The jerky is really tasty. Flavorful, not too thin, tender, chewy and not hard. They also sell nuts, sauces and dried fruits. Service was excellent. Easy to find - in the same parking lot as one of the gas stations right off the freeway. The jerky was good but too spendy. You can taste samples of some of the flavors but not all. I do think it is cool that they don't only have "beef" jerky but other meat jerky's like pork. The hot jerky was actually hot, and I like that. Usually places say that something it hot but it is really weak. They also have other items such as nuts, fudge, and hot sauce. I was a bit disappointed with the hot sauce. They have some labeled under their name but it was in fact not made by them, it was make in North Carolina. They do have a pretty good selection overall though. read more

On my way to Glendale, AZ, I noticed that I couldn't check into the multiple Rest Areas along Route 10 headed East. My Yelp App informed me about a place called that I wanted to visit. Unfortunately, it was 3am in the morning. I told myself that I would visit on my return trip to Daniel's Really Good Fresh Jerky in Quartzsite, AZ. I had left my hotel room at 6am, but I had gone on a hunch that Daniel's Really Good Fresh Jerky would open at 8am. From Glendale, AZ to Quartzsite, I arrived at the perfect time. They are open from 8am to 9pm (See Photo). I was greeted by a lady who was cleaning up the store. When you walk in, you'll notice a huge selection of hot sauces, snacks, and to the left side, THE WALL OF JERKY! You can sample a few from Teriyaki to XXX Hot Beef. They have a 3 for $20 Special on jerkys. Lets say...I GOT A LOT! The XXX Hot Beef was HABENERO HOT! I almost ran to my truck to get water, but I drank my tears! I asked for another Teriyaki Jerky to calm my palettes. Geez, that XXX Beef Jerky was hot. When you drive through the I-10, you better stop here. When they say, "Really Good" versus "GREAT", you know they are hiding something. So, when my Dodgers are on the road to AZ, its time to stop by and grab some jerky and a couple of hot sauce. I was on my way back to San Diego yesterday and stopped in Quartzite to get gas. I happened to see this jerky store, so I stopped and went in. I love beef jerky. Place is very clean and well kept. There was a nice selection of hot sauces (with odd but funny names). Jerky is $8/bag, $22/3 bags. Not a bad price. They also had someone manning a station where you could get samples of jerky. So i saw the signs for jerky on the freeway back from Arizona to Cali after going spring training to Spring training to see the Dodgers.... picked up the sweet and spicy, the xxx hot and carne asada jerky packs.... The XXX hot is like it says mellow at first and then bam.. the heats kicks in... probably one of the better hot jerkys I have tasted and it actually delivers the heat..... The sweetand spicy was good, nice nad tender...maybe a lil mo spice would have been better... the carne asada wasa kind of plain...jrky still good and u get a mety taste tto it.. def will pick up more next im go this route......place is really clean and has a ton of hot sauces and a bunch of other snacks...def worth a stop if your in the area!!!!! read more

It's a really cool place, a lot of neat things to choose from. They have hot sauce, dried fruit, chocolate, sodas, and of course jerky. Workers are real nice, building is real clean. My only issue is the price. I get it, they are in Quartzsite. But $8.00 per jerky is a bit pricey. But they are good. I tend to like the sweeter taste. So I recommend their Whiskey BBQ, and Teriyaki. But they do have a sample station and recommend you try it. I go back and forth from Cali and Arizona a lot, and don't stop by here that often. But if you're in the mood for something different, this is a must stop location. read more

We make an annual visit to Quartzite for the rock & gem show but never stopped in to get jerky at this place. The jerky is pretty good but I wouldn't say it's worth the cost. Daniel was pretty rude and offensive so we'll be returning for our annual gem show but definitely NOT to Daniels jerky. Buh-bye. read more

Friends or family must have written the "great" reviews. Not worth the stop unless you need a restroom break. Pricey and the quality isn't worth it. Normally 4 males could easily demolish what we bought, but nope of the 3 bags of jerky we got we didn't finish any of them, and 2 were absolutely horrible. Our wives also wanted pumpkin seeds and those were like eating slivers of wood, plus you couldn't taste even a smidgen of salt.
